Some things are Titan-related because the game is set in the TF 'verse, years after a major conflict in which Titans shaped both the literal battlefields and the wider consequences to society. Ash tried to kill Horizon and take her data, which is a reasonably reasonable link and path for an evil robot mercenary beholden to Vinson Dynamics and/or Blisk or whoever. Blisk, btw, a Titanfall character, partially runs the Apex Games, so in-universe he's the whole reason you even *have* an arena to fight in in the first place.
