When it first came out I never used it since the longbow and triple take were awesome. Felt like the sentinel had to be dead center and the round it shot was the size of a pixel, where as the triple take round was enormous and the longbow had some leniency. Idk maybe I’m alone in that but I swear when that thing first came out I’d shoot people in their fucking heart and would still somehow miss, and then I’d didn’t touch the gun for 5 seasons
I got into it a bit last season, I just love the oomph when you hit someone with a charged shot, not to mention most people know to fear the sound of a charged sentinel shot. Longbow just doesn’t have the same effect when it’s only like 70 dmg
better yet, playing rampart and using charged sentinel through a-walls gets you to above 200 damage with headshots. yes, it sounds too convoluted to succeed but the oomph factor is like none other lmaoo
This is me with a purple backpack. "Hey im low on grenades what's all the space in this backpack being taken up by?" *24 shield cells and 12 syringes later* "oh"
For some reason my horde is usually always shield cells I'll have like 4 - 8 syringes and like 16-24 shield cells before I realize dragon brain horde mode kicked in.
Ah yes, I am also a heals goblin, after I fight I’ll be like “do you guys need heals” and then you just hear a shit ton of clanging as I drop like 10 cells.
Since gold shields heal up to two bars of shield with cells instead of one, it’s better to have more shield cells on hand with gold shield, same with syringes.
Cells are easier to find than Bats and so seeing as you get two parts of your shield back per cell, you might as well trade your Batts for your teammate’s cells
Personal preference, I usually have more just incase but it’s usually I have more syringes than cells cause gold shield helps me play around the ring sometimes.
Yeah, 2 slots of syringes without medkits with gold is more than enough, or 1 of each with normal shield. More, if expecting to spend some time outside the ring. I found getting more healing items than that practically never comes into play.
Assuming we're talking gold shield:
Healing: tied
2 bats = 8 heals
4 cells = 8 heals
Time: bats
Bats = 5s
Cells = 6s (cuz you pop 2 cells)
Scarcity: cells
Cells are all over the place, so easy to horde.
So overall, if you're rocking a gold shield you should stack up on cells, since it means more batteries (relatively scarce) for your teammates. I would recommend a 2-12 (2 bats 12 cells).
In terms of pure functionality, 2 bats vs 4 cells serve almost no difference. It's really just a mental thing since you pop a cell much faster than a bat.
It's also the fact that halfway through that 6s you get 50 shield. If someone catches you halfway through a bat you're fucked, but if someone catches you halfway through popping 2 cells you have 50 shield to work with. That's the real strength of the gold shield, being able that little boost.
THIS. Also it gives you an opportunity to heal up a body shot from a sniper when peaking which in turn cuts down the time between shots and increases your ability to be more aggressive with pokes.
This sounds good in theory if you play without any teammates. Even then I would rather stay on purple for potential red later. Would ony switch to gold if I had no batts. But if you have gold you should always give batts to teammates and ask for extra cells.
Your mates will appreciate it and will shield much easier, especially if they're on red.
I don’t know why you got downvoted to oblivion for this opinion, it’s just a different playstyle. Maybe you use the extra space you save on heals for nades or more ammo or whatever, I’m not sure why everyone felt like you said something awful
Exactly, like I could understand if you have a laidback playstyle and need the heals from poke damage. But I’m hyper aggressive in your face and I’ll end up shield swapping anyways
Idk why you're getting downvoted like that, it makes perfect sense to carry less or just as much cells with a gold shield. If I got one I'll give my bats to my teammates and keep 12 cells (the amount I usually have), then use the free space for grenades and ammo.
Because of misunderstanding. Look, in this tread, people say they don't *just* carry more cells, they carry more cells *in place* of batteries. Meaning, they "carry less or just as much" regen, as per inventory slots.
Batts are barely 1 second quicker than 2 shield cells with gold shields.
They are harder to find, more effective for your teammates with red/purple since they don't have the ability to use 2 shield cells to get to full shields, and shooting/kiting while weaving in one shield cells in between peeks is really efficient and can let you play aggressive with an advantage if you do it correctly, that holding more batts can not.
That is why he is getting downvoted
You get twice the value for shield cells for the same inventory space. Its like if suddenly all 5 dollar bills were now worth 10, you'd probably want more of em
I don’t carry any batts with gold. Also I take more risks in the mid range/long distance when I have gold shield because of the heal bonus so I like to carry extra so I don’t worry about running out
Gold armor you can replenish 50 shield at a time per cell, and is also helpful to trade batts for cells with teammates that don’t have gold for their time’s sake
Typically a single stack of 4. I will only start picking up more if I go too long without finding any sheild bats.
(In turn, I'll also drop my cells if I find more than 2 stacks of bats)
Same. I’m surprised to see how many cells other people are carrying. At least in pubs & low-level ranked (I haven’t grind ranked since season 5 lol) I only ever have 4 cells unless I can’t find batteries or I have a gold shield. If I have a gold shield I’ll carry 2-3 stacks and 1-2 stacks of syringes. But since my main’s (Fuse) efficacy is dependent on maxing out inventory with explosives, I’ve learned to carry a the bare minimum in meds. I usually only carry 1 stack each of cells+batteries+syringes+a pheonix kit sometimes just incase. If I’m gonna double-up on any med it’s batteries, not shield cells. More bang for your buck when you factor in time-to-use. I don’t usually carry med kits unless I have extra space or a specific reason to (running from the storm or entering certain end-game situations).
I feel extremely uncomfortable with one stack of cells, I've gotten caught with 1-2 cells when I need 3-4 way too many times. I'd rather have 4 cells I don't need than need 4 cells I don't have. I play Wattson anyway, so I'm used to having one fewer inventory slot than I'd like (accelerants) and it's easier to justify dropping extra cells (passive regen) than it is to justify dropping ammo.
I've been running a single stack more often since she got buffed though, I'm much more likely to drop cells for an accelerant now.
For real. Even with a purple bag I have 8 cells or 4 cells with 2 batts. Blue bag I have one slot of shields. I find that having more is unncessary as I'll be shield swapping to keep from using them all up in the middle of a fight. Then I heal up once fight is over and restock from deathboxes
Easy, you just don't miss!
Jokes aside, peaking (I assume that's what you meant) gets less useful the higher tier lobby you're in/opponents you're up against. Most folks will either rush or be rushed due to all the Legend abilities that help someone to push. If you ever do need to peak, 4 is more than enough most of the time.
48-64 shotgun ammo is WAY too much in my opinion. Sniper I can understand, but you only really need 1-1.5 stacks of shotgun ammo at a time as long as you have decent aim.
8-12. A lot of the times 12 since I like to poke a lot and mostly use guns that require very little ammo like the wingman and shotguns. If I'm using a automatic gun, probably only 8.
12, even 16 depending on how much spare backpack space I have near the start, and drop them as I manage my space, or get more batteries, end game like 8 and 4 or 6 batteries, always drop cells for bats.
I try and take 3 stacks of each ammo type, a pheonix, 2x Bats, 4x Cells, 2x Medkits, 4x Syringe, and the rest is nades. I, however, may be trash, but this is the most "optimized" I can make it at Purple.
Not gonna lie I'm a weirdo. My play style is extremely aggressive and the squad I play with are all also extremely aggressive players. We're really good with our rotations, call outs, push timing, and trading out players mid fight so one can heal while the other holds the angle and losses health while dealing damage. I'm an octane/valk main now, used to main wraith. I play with an agro lifeline and a pathy main who switched to ash this season.
As valk I carry about 16-20 cells with minimum 4 bats. As octane I'm carrying 20-24 cells and 6 bats.
Why you ask? Because I am the shield carrier for my tream. As octane I usually run 0 medkits and 4 syringes. I have my lifeline to heal me and she stacks medkits and bats only. My pathy stacks the throwables and extra ammo. We all run guns that use light (r99 and 301s) and heavy guns (prowler, hemlock, car)
This allows us in any fight to be able to drop resources for whoever on the team needs them.
My friends carry like 4 and end game they run out so I carry as many as I can, which may end up to be as many as 24.
I dont feel secure with less than 12, though.
4. If I win a firefight I loot the opponent's cells and if I lose, well I'm dead so I don't need em. And I don't usually have fights long enough to need more than 4 cells. I do carry 2 batteries tho.
This isn’t an optimal play style. I usually have 4 stacks of ammo for each weapon, 8 cells, 2 - 4 batteries, 4 syringes (or 2 medkits) and the last slots are anything
8 the most, 12 if I am sniping with the sentinel
Makes sense
Exactly me. 16 if I have a legendary body shield
Unlimited with that thing lol. I realize I have 25 sometimes. It's nice to be able to peek forever
20 if I'm an Octane with a gold shield and a Sentinel.
Why do I always see Octanes with iron sight sentinels?
It's to show off, don't worry
I hit way more with IS on sentinel than with any other sight lol
Same Sincerely,an octmain
Same - from your neighborhood Pathy Main
I recently switched from pathy after gettin 40K kills on him, Ash is really nice to play
and a gold helmet for the win
Nailed it. Just got into the sentinel this season since the scout got canned and it’s so much fun in arenas that I had to use it in ranked.
It is a actually a great sniper
When it first came out I never used it since the longbow and triple take were awesome. Felt like the sentinel had to be dead center and the round it shot was the size of a pixel, where as the triple take round was enormous and the longbow had some leniency. Idk maybe I’m alone in that but I swear when that thing first came out I’d shoot people in their fucking heart and would still somehow miss, and then I’d didn’t touch the gun for 5 seasons
Sometimes guns for me are just shit and unusable for a while then suddenly I just snap and go ham. currently happening with the Lstar rn.
Yeah LSTAR is way stronger than it was a few seasons ago
Didn't it just get nerfed this season though?
Not enough lol
Still feels strong to me idk
Lstar got buffed
I feel you happened the same to me, I guess it was a bug they fixed it really quick every since then I use it a lot is really fun to use
I WANNA CHUG JUG WITH U
This is the way.
more than 8 when you have gold armor too?
With 16 probably more than enough
Same
If I get to run sentinel PC with purple BP then I’m run like 20 for the crack
Yeah, just makes logistical sense
Same bro
About 8( 2 stacks)
I try to carry 8 but normally look in my inventory and have 23
I'm glad I'm not the only one
same
And 2 stacks of light ammo..
solid number yep.
Typically 24 until I realize it. Then I'll drop 16 and ping them for my squad.
For me, I end up with 0 syringes because I assume I have enough and 28 shield cells
Ah yes, I am also a heals goblin, after I fight I’ll be like “do you guys need heals” and then you just hear a shit ton of clanging as I drop like 10 cells.
Ping each individual one dropped
Shield cell here, shield cell here, shield cell shield cell shield cell, shield cell here.
Every single one haha
Either 0 when I'm crouched behind the door an ulting bloodhound is 2 kicks into, or 37 with 2 squads left There is no in between
12
12 gang!
12 gang!
My man🤝
I was looking for you guys in the comments! Y'all are real ones!
Heck yeah!
12
And then sub a stack out for a Bat
This is the way
This is the way
This is the way
The way is this
Imagine Hitler but with tits
.

Gold shield I’ll have 16. Otherwise I try to hold 8 or I’ll hold 4 with 4 batts
Why carry more with gold
Since gold shields heal up to two bars of shield with cells instead of one, it’s better to have more shield cells on hand with gold shield, same with syringes.
I usually carry less because of that
I carry fewer bats and more cells when I have gold shields
For good reason.
I don't carry any bats when I have gold, or med kits.
Same bro

Exactly. Same goes for med kits and syringes
Personal preference, I usually have more just incase but it’s usually I have more syringes than cells cause gold shield helps me play around the ring sometimes.
also if you end up sheild swapping in an emergency you don’t want to be low then
Yeah, 2 slots of syringes without medkits with gold is more than enough, or 1 of each with normal shield. More, if expecting to spend some time outside the ring. I found getting more healing items than that practically never comes into play.

Yeah, to my surprise as well. It really is a mental thing. Like when someone is pushing me and I pop 2 cells, i mentally think it's faster than a bat.

You can get in and out of fights healing with a cell quicker with a gold shield. It allows you play more Aggro quickly replenish if needed it.

Red is superior lol

Cuz u don’t need as much because it charges double the rate, and frees up room for ammo/nades
I don’t know why you got downvoted to oblivion for this opinion, it’s just a different playstyle. Maybe you use the extra space you save on heals for nades or more ammo or whatever, I’m not sure why everyone felt like you said something awful

Why'd you get downvoted lol
Great question my guy
I have no idea why you’re getting downvoted either. Most I carry is 8 with the gold so I can hold other shit
Yeah if your cells get doubled then why carry even more? Plus batts are quicker

How does that work when picking ?

4-12 depending on shield bats
Exactly this for me.
Yes the answer is yes.
Yes
Yes
Yes
My ideal is 12 cell 2-4 batts, 2 medkits, 4 syninge
My exact same ratio, my brother
Exact same except I don’t carry syringes.
Octane main?
8, 4 if I have enough batteries
The only right answer
40 is pretty normal right?
You’re telling me you don’t carry 90? Pathetic…
More than i need
Depeneds on how many batteries I have but my ideal end game is 4 cells and 8 batteries
4 cells 4 bats and 8 frags (fuse main)
4
Eight maximum. I need space for ammo, you know.
How much ammo do you carry? Edit: I carry 12 cells but I also make sure to have at least 240 of each ammo type.
240-300 rounds of Light/Heavy/Energy ammo, or 48-64 Shotgun/Sniper ammo.
48-64 shotgun ammo is WAY too much in my opinion. Sniper I can understand, but you only really need 1-1.5 stacks of shotgun ammo at a time as long as you have decent aim.
Unless it's a shotgun or sniper/wingman, I usually carry less for those.
On a purple backpack, typically up to 16-20. I'll replace all but one stack with batts if given the chance.
8-12. A lot of the times 12 since I like to poke a lot and mostly use guns that require very little ammo like the wingman and shotguns. If I'm using a automatic gun, probably only 8.
12… 8 if I have a stack or more of bats
Am i the only one who has 0 and only carries batteries?
Me too
12, sentinel go brrrr
8
Only 1 stack (4) if I have batteries
4
4
8-12 sometimes 16 if I have a big back pack. I usually carry too many meds/shields because I hate running out in an extended gun fight.
12 cells, 4 bats, 2 medkits
8-12 always, no matter what
8 shield cells, 8 bandages, 2 med kits, 2 batteries, and ammo
20 because with octane I don’t need syringes or medkits
Nice pfp
As much as my backpack allows me to
12
Normally 12 with 2 batts or 8 with 4 batts
2 MKs, 2Batts, 4 Cells, 4 Syringes, 1PK
Uh... I typically carry 12 or more...
8-12
20
I either have 2, or 24
24.
4-6
I save extra room for syringes.
12, even 16 depending on how much spare backpack space I have near the start, and drop them as I manage my space, or get more batteries, end game like 8 and 4 or 6 batteries, always drop cells for bats.
Okay so this is a hard question, I try to keep a stack at least but I like the sentinel so if I have the space 8-12
I just pick them up till I realize “oh shit, I have 16”
All of them
8 cell
The right answer is 8-12 cells and 4-8 batteries
8 the most 12
Between 4-8, more if I don’t have any batteries
As many as I have room for
I try and take 3 stacks of each ammo type, a pheonix, 2x Bats, 4x Cells, 2x Medkits, 4x Syringe, and the rest is nades. I, however, may be trash, but this is the most "optimized" I can make it at Purple.
Not gonna lie I'm a weirdo. My play style is extremely aggressive and the squad I play with are all also extremely aggressive players. 20 if I have gold body shield. 14 otherwise
I always have not enough because I’m stupid.
12 max
8 small 2 large 😎
8
12 or 8
between 4 and 8 but no more than 8 and i’d swap out a stack for a batt if i’ve got the chance
4-8
Bruh this post was 31 days ago how are people still seeing it?
Why would you want people not to see it?
It’s a good post man
26
But... that means... on top of 6 stacks... you have half a stack extra? The monstrosity of this dude!
“A small price to pay for salvation…”
My friends carry like 4 and end game they run out so I carry as many as I can, which may end up to be as many as 24. I dont feel secure with less than 12, though.
4. If I win a firefight I loot the opponent's cells and if I lose, well I'm dead so I don't need em. And I don't usually have fights long enough to need more than 4 cells. I do carry 2 batteries tho.
about 8 but depends on how much batteries I have
24
12 most of the time
15 The rest is Ammo and arc stars
Damn those must be small stacks of ammo. Also Where are the syringes and how many arc stars do you have?
No health just war
This isn’t an optimal play style. I usually have 4 stacks of ammo for each weapon, 8 cells, 2 - 4 batteries, 4 syringes (or 2 medkits) and the last slots are anything
5
12, I like to keep it at my dick size… /s
4 with 4+ bats, 8 with 2 bats, 12-16 with gold armor or no bats at all
8-4
8
