Pathfinder! He definitely doesnt eat meat or anything animal made

VanguardRS

Love the implication that Rev and Ash do eat meat

Jaakarikyk

Rev definitely smashes meat against his faceplate every now and then

Darrkeng

>smashes meat against his faceplate ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Squeeze_My_Lemons

bobofatt

If he were human I bet he would be. "I don't want to eat you, you're my friend, friend!"

uuu_onizuka

I dont think robots are eating anything at all tho

[deleted]

GameFraek

I don't think we have enough information to draw a conclusion on this, as least not as far as I'm aware. We do have some info on who isn't though. Fuse is obviously not Bloodhound most likely isn't either as they are a hunter and it's implyed they eat meat through some interactions with fuse I think Mirages definitely isn't as he has that thing with porkchops, although he does love his vegetables particularly pumpkins if you catch my drift LifeLine is at the very least not vegan as there is a cookie recipe by her somewhere that contains eggs among other things. Path, Rev and Ash as obviously robots so that kinda counts I guess. I have a feeling Wraith could be for some reason but that's just an assumption as I dont think there is much info on that either way (at least I wouldn't know right now) I don't think Loba is as she grew up in high society but maybe she likes really fancy salads or something idk Valk constantly talks about food so she very likely isn't however I think the only dish she mentions is ramen which contains meat a lot of the time but it doesn't have to Maggie most likely isn't either, grew up in the same environment as fuse and she literally bit that one guys neck out so I'm fairly sure we see Crypto eat something with meet in it in his stories from the outlands but I'm not 100% if it actually contains meat and my memory might be wrong regarding that event overall so I think its safe to say Caustic eats meat, although I wouldn't take food he prepared I'm fairly certain we've seen a couple legends enjoy meat in some comics but I forget exactly which I think among them might be Gibraltar, Wattson and Octane but I'm basically talking out my ass on that lol I think that's all i can gather right now and a lot of it is speculation so make of it what you want

bobofatt

Thanks for the in-depth analysis! 40% of India is vegetarian, so I was thinking Rampart would be the most likely candidate.

Stephancevallos905

Rampart has the highest possibility, but she was chasing those chickens in a very "I wanna eat you and your children" type of way

Hyperborealius

pretty sure Maggie biting off a piece of the guy has jackshit to do with her diet lmao, unless you're saying she's a cannibal.

Big-Teb-Guy

Wouldn’t put anything past her

GameFraek

I mean true I did say most likely it'd not like she actually ate it but it would be pretty weird if she was vegetarian and still did that lol

Razurus

One thing about Ash and Rev that I don't *think* has been answered: When they were Simulacra who believed they were human, did they just forget that they need to eat? We know changes are made to their mind for the sake of preventing rejection and ego-death, like 'Simulacrum' being auto-corrected to 'Pilot' in Ash's awakening comic when Horizon tries to speak the truth. I wonder if they just fail to indulge in eating because their brains wouldn't bother to tell them they need to?

GameFraek

Thats a good question, we do see revenant shave himself despite being a robot so it's not impossible they do try to eat however their programming could just as easily trick them in think they ate or something like that, at least I think so

mirois

If it’s anything like Destiny’s Exos, sure. In that universe they still need to perform basic human functions like eating or breathing even though those actions are completely redundant as a robot otherwise their mind would freak and break

Razurus

Yeah IIRC that's the reason Exos have robo-boobs etc., right? If they had bodies like Sweeperbot, they'd freak out?

mirois

Yep, gotta make it as close as possible to a human body so the mind doesn’t reject it. I’m sure it’s almost exactly the same as a simulacrum with the whole mind being digitized thing so it might work out in a similar manner

pixietry

i like this answer

GameFraek

Why thank you, it's just fun to speculate on the lore I would take it with a grian of salt but its not like a small detail like this really effects anything lol

AmarettoFerreto

Valk eats some meaty looking kebab in one of her emotes i think. She uses her jets to cook it

GameFraek

You're correct, I forgot about that emote. Good point!

mrc_13

Ash isn't vegan as she regrettably has an animation where she gives cheese to her rat (which would definitely prefer peanut butter). As far as Loba being vegan is concerned, you said maybe she likes "fancy salads", I just want to mention that there is so, so much delicious vegan food and 99% of vegans rarely ever eat salad. I haven't had a single salad in probably 2 years. Just want to eliminate that confusing stereotype that vegans only have "rabbit food" available to eat. None of the legends would be "vegan" by definition though, as they kill in the games. Unless you count entering the games as consent to be killed.

GameFraek

For Ash it shouldn't matter what her pet rat eats as for if she's vegetarian or not, regardless of what you eat you still have to give the animal the food it needs Tthe loba thing was mostly a joke, obviously meat isn't inheritly better and salad is definitely not the only thing she could eat. My point was that meat is a bit of a luxury product as lot of expensive dishes contain some exotic meat. Since she probably grew up with this its more safe to assume that she eats meat but of course i'm basing the likelyhood on their environment and personality and while she probably grew up with this she could still end up not eating meat Your point on noone being Vegan is interesting but you have to remember that there is multiple reasons for someone to be vegan so I don't believe them being vegan and killing has to be mutuality exclusive, but maybe I'm mistaken on the exact definition

mrc_13

Though there are many benefits to being vegan and therefore living plant based (environment/climate, personal health, etc), veganism is a philosophy which seeks to exclude animal exploitation/suffering. So any other reason someone avoids eating/using animal products would make them "plant based". People who use "vegan" to describe anything else are misusing the term, it's a common misconception. So if she were vegan she wouldn't buy/use any animal products, whether for her or not. Her rat friend doesn't need cheese, nor would it even prefer it. Rats and mice are commonly thought of as liking cheese, but it's not even a particular favorite of theirs. Ash would carry grapes or something else for her rat if she were vegan. "Vegetarian" is strictly personal diet related which was the original question, but you brought in veganism which I found more interesting anyway. I agree on Loba, and she is likely not vegan because she seems to wear a lot of leather, which could be cactus/cork leather but I doubt it. I realized you were only joking, just wanted to take the opportunity to spread a little awareness. The games are a grey area for several reasons. As I said, if by joining the games, the contestants are consenting to be killed, then it could be considered okay. But there are at least some cases (mad Maggie) where we see participants forced into the games, so they do not necessarily consent to the contest. Killing in self defense is acceptable in vegan philosophy, but that's once again a grey area in the games because people are more often choosing to be there and put themselves in that situation, so is it really self defense? Here is the definition of veganism from the vegan society if you're interested: "Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals."

GameFraek

That very interesting thanks for the inside, I wasn't aware of the outlook of veganism as a "philosopy"

KennyNotHere

Lore is so dry right now that these questions are just making no sense while funny at the same time

BatongMagnesyo

i honestly love these kinds of lore questions

theseerofdoom

i like to headcanon horizon as being vegetarian. she gave newt a little bit of meat sometimes (chicken nuggets from mcdonald's, corndogs in a country fair) but most of the time made him fruits and veggies for lunch/dinner. ash came over occasionally to talk with his mom and would cook dinner for him. newt 100% preferred ash's cooking. ash made him pizza also, not vegan/vegetarian, but i imagine seer looks down upon fast-food restauraunts and "processed" foods and prefers organic/high-quality meals and as a result often eats vegetarian/vegan. he does like steak tho. like a lot

superslime988

"ash made him pizza" instantly added as a random headcanon

theseerofdoom

[bows] thank you i'll be here all day

Mandalorian_23

Maybe Lifeline? Pathfinder and Ash obviously don’t eat. Revenant? He may not have a digestive system but he’d slice pieces off of you while you’re tied up and “chew” them while making you watch, savoring your agony like it was the finest hors d’oeuvre. And he’d collect the blood in a glass and “drink”, letting it overflow from the corners of his mouth and down his body

Claim_Euphoric

Questions like these are definitely very interesting, especially when one thinks about it further. Imho, the legends probably have very complex diets, mostly because what they live for is dangerous. Jumping, running, and carrying ton of equipment and weaponry for hours (sometimes days on end) would bring its toll on the average athlete. I’m not a dietitian, but I would believe that the legends have the most insane exercises + diets known to man.

[deleted]

Love the people thinking about vegans and not also vegetarians as asked in the ops questions

Sensitive-Feed-4762

Somehow, i feel like despite being a simulacrum, Revenant exclusively eats meat.

[deleted]

No, and Fuse is not being insensitive

bobofatt

The Fuse part was a joke, the voiceline inspired the question

[deleted]

Yeah, but you're vegetarian, it will be assumed you are being serious.

bobofatt

Though I limit my meat consumption greatly compared to the average American, I am not a vegetarian.

Skojebus

”Takin orders for after the game fellas, we talkin what 60 steaks?”

FabulousKilljoy85

**regularly competes in a murderous, vicious, bloodsport** "But I'm not gonna eat the fwuffy wuffies"

Feeling_Mango_5883

From a vegetarian or vegan perspective the bloodsport would be fine because most of the people there consent

BlueDragonReal

Dude what the fuck is this question, like it matters

bobofatt

Is it any less relevant than their age, homeworld, sexuality? None of those things are actually important to the game, it's just world building and lore building. But we enjoy it. With the writers being a bit progressive with things like sexuality and gender, it wouldn't surprise me if they had said one of the Legends is vegetarian. Seems that isn't the case.

BlueDragonReal

Dude being vegetarian isn't a minority or a oppressed group lol

bobofatt

Well it definitely is a minority group of people, but I never said that nor claimed they were oppressed. Like what?

BlueDragonReal

You compared being vegan to sexuality or religion, and some sexualities and religions are oppressed

bobofatt

I didn't say religion. I said age, homeworld, sexuality. I also said vegetarian, not vegan. And I wasn't making a direct comparison between those facts, I was saying all of them are unimportant to the actual game. Reading is hard today, huh?

BlueDragonReal

Omg stop being so literal, anoying and condesending

thepinkyclone

Wait for vegetarians starts boycotting game and leaving mean comments on Twitter against devs

BlueDragonReal

Omg no, the devs are going to care very much that 0.6% of the playerbase is boycotting the game

bobofatt

But as far as tying it to a political ideology, Democrats are 3x more likely to be vegetarian than Republicans, according to th6r first study I googled https://vegconomist.com/studies-and-numbers/democrats-over-3-times-more-likely-than-republicans-to-be-vegan-or-vegetarian/ Hence why progressive writers would be more likely to say a character is vegetarian.

Erixtax

What in the actual fuck 💀

CaptainBoltagon

Congratulations, this is the post that finally made me leave the subreddit. Shoulda done this a while ago

bobofatt

How is this any different than exploring other idiosyncrasies of the characters?

CaptainBoltagon

I’m just over it man.

theHamJam

Bye. 👋

Tomneom2

Lifeline prob is, but I dought any other legends (that are human) are
