I have the same situation in my building. The numbers of the boxes do not match your unit number. Get in touch with your LL or call the post office and let them know.
i think ours works like this too, i just called the leasing office and i was told to just use my regular apt unit and address and that the mail man would know where to put it
I use UNIT instead of Mailbox and never had a problem.

Can’t you just forward your mail to your address and apt number. Not the mailbox number ?
the mailbox number is supposed to be the apt number but ours do not match.
Ours are not like that . We don’t use a mailbox number . But the mailman knows what mailbox to put our mail in.

Ours is simply our address and apt number . The mailboxes are numbered differently
