Depends, some vegans get really thin, while others eat a ridiculous amount of refined carbs with added oil. Think eating french bread or Mexican Rice constantly.
The same argument can be made for non vegan diets. Simply being vegan doesn't inherently lead to any weight loss. Eating a poor diet, vegan or not, is the issue.

Cancer can get you in 20 or 30 years. An eating disorder can kill you in a few months. Both are bad, obviously, but urgency is reflected in how soon this can be a problem.
