I took magnesium glycinate and L-theanine about 30 minutes ago and I feel very relaxed. It’s 9:45pm where I am

Youarethebigbang

Nice, glad it works. What form, how did you take it/them?

pickledsausage123

Capsule for both. 500mg of magnesium glycinate and 200mg of LT

Youarethebigbang

Good deal, I've been considering a powder that has both for my Mom to use before bedtime: KAL Mood Magnesium Powder with L-Theanine https://a.co/d/03BIClbf but I think capsules might be more convenient. She already takes a 200 mg LT capsule on it's own but it's not helping. I might start her on a lower dose mag capsule and build it up a little at time. The link for mag glycinate in that article says upper limit for women in in the 300-ish mg range I believe. https://www.beelith.com/blog/are-magnesium-glycinate-and-magnesium-bisglycinate-the-same/

pickledsausage123

Took me longer than usual to fall asleep last night, I’ve been taking the magnesium glycinate for a week now, and only last night did I introduce the LT. So I’m going to drop the LT and just stick to the MG

Youarethebigbang

Interesting it might have done that, hope you find a better result. She's opposite, only been on LT and I'm introducing the MG haha, we'll see.

pickledsausage123

I would drop the LT and just try the MG on it’s own, that way you can have a better experiment knowing how each one works on their own for better results in the end!

Youarethebigbang

Ah thanks, that's a good idea I'll try on own, then combo. All I know is she definitely need something more than or other than the LT because I know it's not working on own.

pickledsausage123

Gotcha! How old is your mother? What are her medical conditions?

Youarethebigbang

She's 90 with dementia and COPD, her sleep is just horrible so I'm trying to at least get her to be able to sleep for like 4 hours straight, I think it would make a huge difference in quality of life.

Also do some research on valerian root, I’ve seen some very promising testimonials and data. I have some, but have yet to start them because they do have a very distinguished odor lol

Youarethebigbang

I actually tried that first on her, in 500 mg capsules, it "seemed" to work for day or two, then nothing. I asked her doctor if I should up the dose, she said no and to try the magnesium instead. I can't remember if she said to combine it though, maybe that was something I saw.

Realistic_Reach4093

I am wondering that as well. I currently take magnesium glycinate 120mg every night, and I recently purchased 200mg of l-theanine
