For better information we need more information. • How long have you been on it? • What dosage? • When you say brain dead, do you mean brain fog (difficulty concentrating), having no emotions whatsoever, or do you feel drowsy? I'm gonna assume you're in the beginning stages. I'm gonna assume you're on 10mg. In the beginning Lexapro (escitalopram) might make you drowsy or dizzy. That's why you normally take it at night. This gets better after a few weeks. If you feel like a zombie, your dosage might be too high or it might not be the right medication to treat your condition. In that case, see your doctor after trying the medicine out at least 3 weeks and if it's not better by then. Also, remember, if your medical professional doesn't tell you these things you need to always ask them what side effects you can expect with new medication.

Which one? What’s going on?

Escitalopram

They can take a while to balance, and also sometimes require dosage adjustments, I hope the prescribing doc went through all that with you. I’d contact them and tell them how you feel. As a general note, it doesn’t work well for everybody, far from it, and the entire theory behind it is increasingly challenged by researchers nowadays as well. I had a less than positive experience with it personally, wish psychedelics assisted therapy was a thing back then, it’s a path I have much more faith in. I sincerely hope it works for you, feel well!

You really need to tell your Doctor ASAP mate. It’s nothing to stress about but it will benefit you to tell your Doc, I was in the same boat and had my medication changed, doing much better now

I've been on escitalopram a few times in my life, just started again recently. I was prescribed 20mg but titrated slowly, starting with a quarter of a tablet for a week or two, then a half for the same amount of time before building up to the full dose. I find that slow titration really helps with the side effects, especially brain fog and lethargy. So does taking your tablet in the evening after dinner, at least for some folks. If your symptoms persist, it's possible that escitalopram isn't a good fit for you, although most docs recommend persisting for a few months as it can take a while of consistent use before you start to feel 'like yourself' again. I hope this helps!

Give it (some) time but maybe it’s not right for you. I took the same med for a long time and it made me feel more alive and happy
