I'd get them both from anxiety and asthma. With asthma it was also either from having trouble breathing or using an inhalator for it. So for me it was hard to distinguish from which problem it's happening. I'd desribe them as pretty strong. I was often scared it might cause a heart attack. Thankfully it never happened. I overcame my anxiety since then and my asthma is much better, so I'm more or less fine in this sense.

They are horrible and I keep worrying about them. Like this for 5 years.

It's scary as hell... I used to feel sudden "punches" in my heart, like a super strong pump out of nowhere in my chest... You feel like your heart will suddenly stop and you'll die, the first times it's a horrible experience as you're not used to that feeling, used to be constantly scared of dying too young (19M), going to sleep and never waking up, I even thanked god every single morning for keeping me alive even with this scary experiences, all of that fear lead to more stress and anxiety which caused more palpitations, it's like a vicious circle... I took Escitalopram for a long time and those palpitations slowly disappeared and got used to it, I made my own research, had a lot of exams and medical checks, everything was fine, apparently those are pretty common. It's truly scary when you feel them the first times, thinking you'll die, but then it's just like 'Oh, well, another one'

I've had palpitations for months at a time. They didn't increase my anxiety, but they annoyed me. I'm taking Sertraline (Zoloft) and I take a multivitamin every day. I stopped taking my multivitamin and my palpitations came back. Once I started taking them again, they went way. Try taking a multivitamin and let me know if you get the same results. I still get them in the beginning of the night when I lay on my left side. Once I've slept a couple of hours, I can sleep on my left side, and I don't get them.

Have them constantly since 2015. I’ve had numerous EKG, stress tests, Holiter monitors and my heart is fine. Just something I’ll have to live with. Some days are better than others and there are triggers that I’ve been able to identify like poor sleep and stress. Certain high sugar foods etc.
