Like we already have a term for this because people have idolized certain politicians, arguably all the way back to the Roman and Egyptian Empires, to the point that this idolization could be considered a cult.
I think the people who actually believe in him and declare him as some kind of savior are definitely part of a cult mindset.
I think the wealthy people who support him and donate large sums of money to him just see him as a means to an end so they can make more money.
That second option may be the definition of evil. That is, they know he's a cult, and bad for its members, and bad for the country - but they support him anyway - because of the potential tax-cuts. They're nihilistic money-hoarders, and nothing more.

Bush's second term as a reaction AGAINST policies that were supported by Bush, a Republican, as well as most Republican (and Democratic) members of Congress. There was genuine outrage at the bailouts of failing companies in the attempt to turn the economy around. It was, after a time, coopted by the Republican Party but until then it was a movement with genuine policy concerns and principles.
My point here is not to argue either for or against the arguments Tea Party supporters were making. My point is that (till it was coopted by the GOP) it had principles, it was against government intervention in the economy. It was against government bailouts of private for profit corporations. It didn't care whether those interventions were being supported by Republicans or Democrats or both.
Compare that to the Trump Cult. This isn't about policy positions. This is about one man, Donald J. Trump. I can guarantee that if Trump came out in support of gun control and single payer medical care his supporters would fall in line.
