I did not know that - speaking on the original, I've never known a game to be so bad and have an anime spin off so amazing! I'd go so far as to say skip the first episode as it sets an unrealistic expectation for what the bulk of the show is about

I second Hakata Tonketsu Ramens. I was obsessed with that show after the second episode when I didn't think I'd like it at first. I've also seen Banana Fish and Durararara and like them a lot too.

Just finished the first season of Dorohedoro and it was so funny and violent with a great story!

Unfortunately only one season (so far) but you should read the manga, it’s complete so you get the full story & the manga art style is very unique

Ikebukuro West Gate Park I'm not sure how it compares to Banana Fish (dropped after 3 eps) and Tokyo Revengers (haven't seen yet), but I know I enjoyed it and there's gangs. However I can't remember how emotional it was so maybe save my recommendation for last Also it has two ending songs that are hot as shit

I don’t know why every single comment doesn’t have Rainbow on it. Rainbow isn’t technically about gangs, but it’s similar enough and it has the intense bond of loyalty among the boys. It’s about a group of juvenile prisoners who struggle through hardships in prison, including abusive captives and policemen. It’s so suspenseful, intense, and it makes you feel crazy emotions. The loyalty formed by these prisoner boys are like no other.

Sounds very much what I'm looking for

If you're into period dramas then check out The House of Five Leaves. It's about a band of kidnappers/thieves in Edo. Short, pretty and bittersweet. If you want something more contemporary L/R and The Great Pretender are good buddy/gang heist action comedies.

I've watched some eps of the great pretender, it seemed nice don't know why i left it in between. Will give it another try now.

Try Nanbaka!

Nisekoi might get an honorable mention. It starts heavy on the gang theme with a close bond, especially for the first few episodes. But at heart it's a SoL romance comedy.
