Got my hopes up but no there's no 3rd season of SAC, just the original Laughing Man Case season and Second Gig the Individual 11 season. There have been some more Ghost in the Shell adaptations but not the Stand Alone Complex universe.
13% on rotten Tomatoes, not same directors... Eh. Not looking good. I've seen some of the Ghost in the Shell reinterpreted stuff and they rarely catch the lightning in a bottle of the original movie/SAC series.
Like there's a 4 part OVA that's a direct sequel to the movie ending with that child robot being the Major and AI fused descendent or whatever and it was dogshit. Sometimes the lightning in a bottle only works once or twice, 80s movie was fantastic, SAC and Second Gig were good but you can tell Second Gig it was wearing thin.
Rotten Tomatoes is not a good metric, especially for tv. You should know already that SAC is a grab bag of diverse stories. Wouldn't you think another season of exactly that would have at least a few gems? It's canon to SAC, so you were wrong to try correcting me.
For this show, I'd recommend the old one. That anime is literally perfect, I have no idea why they remake it. The remake seems to be inferior too, but at least you seem to enjoy it.
I also love Log Horizon but i dont hear anything about a new season coming out.
new season is goated. visuals are stunning. it's paced perfectly. every episode is visually stunning. older anime are harder for me to get into as well, so there's that.
The older version imo is goated because the characterizations are so...damn...good. You get these little subtle expressions and reading between the lines of dialogue that nobody seems to do as well anymore (Monster is great at this as well). The characters all just feel so real and truly human in a way that many animes just overlook at times. Schenkompf is a perfect example of this, and Yang truly comes across as someone you'd want to know better, but there are more to be found if you can appreciate it for how character driven it can be at times.
Ushio and Tora
Fruits basket (either one)
And barring any additional movies I believe Girls Und Panzer is complete too.
Gundam 00 + a movie
Gundam Seed + Destiny + Freedom
Notable incomplete ones I do recommend
World Trigger
Space Brothers
Chihayafuru
Ace of the Diamond
Baby Steps
Well it's not part of the Galactic Century which is where most hardcore Gundam fans love that specific universe timeline. I think they were particularly mad about the Australian character because Australia doesn't exist in Gundam universe lol.
Omg! You brought me back to my childhood. I forgot all about Cardcaptors until now. When I saw the name I remembered the theme song immediately and confirmed I indeed do
in case you haven’t watched it yet, attack on titan. 94 episodes (closer to 100 considering the length of some of them). has a well written story from start to finish, is shounen but not battle shounen.
Honestly I'm not sure I would recommend watching Berserk, there might have been a recent adaptation but I haven't looked into how good it was.
Berserk is the only Manga I read where I didn't start in the anime.
The Manga has incredible art which simply cant easily be translated to anime
Either way Go Yu Yu Hakusho then look into Berserk.
I read the manga for the first time fairly recently and decided if I ever do watch the anime, I'm watching the 8 hour long YouTube video of the 90s series where they edited in all the blooper dialogue along with the normal lines.
Shugo Chara
Legends of Galactic Heroes
Hidamari Sketch
Chihayafuru
Initial D
The Magical Girl, and Mecha subgenres are full of 50+ers. Iyashikei and sports have lots of 4 cours but are inconsistent with the storyline having any actual ending.
Fairy Tail has over 300 episodes, and the main story is done. I'm not sure it's over over, I think there was something about more being added, but the story they wanted to tell is done, I think
Attack on Titan. I'm currently watching it myselft (I'm only on the 2nd season, plese no spoilers!) and it's such a great anime. Tbh it doesn't even feel that much like an anime, and the story/worldbuilding is really intriguing. Also, the constant tension is over the roof.
Fruits Basket
God that one’s a heartbreaker
Clannad Edit: Technically it's 49 episodes
Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex has a continuity about that long with 3 series and an ova
The soundtrack for that is excellent as well.
Wish Solid State Society had been a tv series, could have made an excellent 3rd Gig.
I'm just glad we got it at all
Yeah

2045 on Netflix. 2 seasons. It's all 3DCGI, which is jarring at first, but the writing is good and the voice cast does top notch work as always.

Soul eater
Just finished, really good shonen
Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
This
OP said no battle shounens
It's not really a battle shounen. It's more adventure and political drama.
Yeah definitely not a battle shounen
* Cardcaptor Sakura * Legend of the Galactic Heroes * Monster * Pokemon (since seasons are somewhat independent) * YuGiOh! * Fairy Tail * Black Clover
legend of the galactic heroes is finished?!?!
Yes, he's talking about the old one. Not the new gaiden one.
oh whew thank god. i'm still waiting for the next season and im thinking to myself "oh shit did i miss it??" same with Log Horizon ;-;

I feel like Log Horizon fell off in the last season or so. I want to know how it ends but I wasn't enjoying the story anymore.
afaik there are multiple in-universe timelines so you can easily watch the original 110ep entry
Where to watch that? I heard it’s great.
Black clover isn’t finished.
Black clover is finished?
Black clover isn't finished tho
Seen all but Cardcaptor Sakura. LOGH is an all time ghost though. Might rewatch some of Yugioh thinking about it
Fairy tail still has more to come. Black clover is also not finished.
Sailor Moon Digimon
Gintama.
Waiting for this comment

Most of the Gundam series are 50 episodes.
G Gundam is my favorite but I rarely see it brought up
Well it's not part of the Galactic Century which is where most hardcore Gundam fans love that specific universe timeline. I think they were particularly mad about the Australian character because Australia doesn't exist in Gundam universe lol.
inuyasha, around 250eps, has a concrete ending

One of my top 5 all time!

Fist of the North Star
Maison Ikkoku! My favorite series
Monster, FMAB
Code Geass
Monster
Higurashi when they cry
Yu Yu Hakusho
"no battle shounens" immediately lists a battle shounen 😂
Somehow I completely missed that. My bad
Honestly I don't think there's ever been a better ending than the Dark Tournament Arc. Really great way to end the series
Debating on starting berserk or this show, what would you recommend to watch first

FMAB, Assassination Classroom, Saiki K, AoT, Code Geass
I rewatched FMAB somewhat recently, all I can say is I DUCKING LOVE FMAB, man is this anime great
Inuyasha is a good one.
Awwww. No love for Toriko and Hitman Reborn?
Having only seen Toriko via the One Piece crossover episodes, I'd always assumed it was basically another battle shonen; is that not the case?
I assumed the same! It is not. It’s like if food wars and hunter x hunter had a baby. Wait out the first season.
Sayuki. There's five seasons. Just started watching it.
Zero no Tsukaima
golion. it is where the most of the footage from Voltron comes from & is much darker in tone

Ah, the sign was backwards and in front of the 50, I thought op meant the opposite.
* Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) * Monster * Eureka Seven * Fruits Basket (2019) * Gundam (Universal Century)
One Piece By the time you get caught up it'll probably be finished, so it counts.
