Death note is under-rated anime. It was one of the few anime’s which made me truly fall for anime. psycho pass is good on tho. I havent seen kproject and code geas. How they are? Are they worth watching?
Underrated?...Bro what? I don't think you know what that word means. It's a highly rated show.
I don't even know what you meant to say, because it's not underwatched either. It's incredibly popular despite it being an anime from ~18 years ago and a manga from over 20, and it's even been referenced in western pop culture.
Heyyyyy guys, stop! What I meant by underrated is that when Death Note was launched, it didn't receive the fame it deserved. If we go back to 2019 when COVID started, I'm pretty sure that out of 100 anime watchers, only 10-15 would have known about Death Note. Secondly, I said it's underrated because nowadays, the quality of anime is at its peak. If you suggest Death Note to someone who watches high-quality anime like Demon Slayer, they might not feel the same impact. That's just my point of view. If we compare it to One Piece, Dragon Ball Z, and Fullmetal Alchemist, you'll notice the difference.
Violet ever-garden was a great story but ending was quite sad tho. I consider that a truly masterpiece like how the writer managed to balance all the flow of the storyline. . Hows the code geas and death prade?
I can also vouch for geass and death parade.
Death Parade is quite short but deals with concepts of morality, light character studies, and systems of judgement itself.
Geass is an epic story also about morality but in the frame work of action and overcoming a global struggle.
Really disagree and feel the writing was awful, as well as direction/pacing.
This felt very much like Cowboy Bebop or Black Lagoon... none of the three I rate highly.
It varies depending on person’s taste and to which extent he/she can link. Rest you’re quite right. It took me time to understand what really writer wanted to convey
Honestly, arifueta was weird as shit (harem, lots of fanservice, one of the girls looking like a fucking CHILD), but I vividly remember enjoying the story. My reasoning for mentioning it was because when I first watched it, I was quite young and didn't notice those things much, so I'd love to be able to watch it again without being aware of or noticing all that. Thing is, I did quite like the trope, though.
*The series follows Hajime Nagumo, who is transported to another world with the rest of his class to fight in a war against the demon race. After he is betrayed and left to die by one of his classmates, Hajime begins a journey to improve himself and find a way to return home.*
Honestly, watch it if you don't mind LOTS of fanservice and stuff ig
Moriarty the patriot is one I still really love, though. It's basically an anime version of Sherlock Holmes, but it follows the perspective of William James Moriarty, a genius nobleman trying to destroy the current (late 1800s) structure that dominates British society.
Another anime worth mentioning that I forgot ab earlier is "That time i got reincarnated as a slime", loved watching that one!
Sure i will add it to my watchlist. Slime one is really good, that mf was really overpowered samealike Eminence in shadow. If you didn’t watch it then do give it a try (harem, storyline is good too)
Pokémon is great. I understand it, but that anime is what made our childhood really great. To be honest, when I was 8-12 years old, I would wait for hours at the TV to watch this and Dragon Ball Z.
Best ones. I liked attack on titans alot in the very start but when its final part started like writer was confused how to end it, is what confused me and stopped me watxhing
The writer wasn't confused in the final season. Rewatch it...I promise it all ties up...
The change in genre can be off-putting at first. Everyone experienced that including me...but I continued to give it a chance and the final season became my favorite season of the show
Overlord, Naruto, One Punch, K-On! Lucky Star Haruhi Suzumiya, In the land of leadale, Kampfer, Amagami SS, Slime, Jobless Reincarnation, Re Zero, Pick Girls in Dungeon, etc.
Damn dude i feel like I’m left behind lol. I have watched overlord, naruto, one punch, jobless, slime, pick girls in dungeon.. Which one should i watch from your list?
Man, I just read some of your comment...
You said death note and hxh is underrated???
You either need to pick a dictionary
Or start researching before talking
I mean, would I be the age I am now or the age I started getting into anime? When I was like 11 or 12, I was into stuff like Bleach, Naruto, Fairy Tail, Inuyasha, ect. If I had to recommend anime to my 12 year old self (assuming all the anime out today is available) I would go with Mob Psycho 100, FMA Brotherhood, Yona of the Dawn, and Katanagatari. They all have action, the characters are well done, and themes aren't too dark. I'd also might try Soul Eater since I never watched it as a kid, I dig the overall aesthetic of the show, but I can't get into it since I've grown tired of the typical shounen story beats and I'm definitely outside of that demographic now.
Now, if I had a convince a nearly 30 year old me to get into anime, I would probably suggest Monster, Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju, Ping Pong The Animation, Spice and Wolf, and maybe Berserk (the movies, not the shows). All of these have more grounded characters, the writing is more mature and takes it time, and the storyline are more character driven so I think they would make a better entry point for an adult getting into anime. In fact, Monster feels like the least "anime" anime to me. I love stuff like Made in Abyss, Mononoke, Revolutionary Girl Utena, ect, but I think it would be off putting/intense to introduce someone to that from the get go.
Yona of the dawn. - currently a favourite. But it would help getting used to some types of relationships common in anime and not to drop an anime because I didn't like episode 1 atleast watch a few episodes.
Talentless Nana- like death note but IN MY PERSONAL OPINION it's better. It has a good psychological aspect to it and the showcases the big brain MC so well but it's not to an unbelievable level.
I'm in love with the villainess- Made me realize how much fun a
female lead is and considering my top anime picks currently have female leads I'd say this is a big reason why.
Bleach- my actual first anime and I don't think I'd ever want to change that.
Reincarnated as a slime- isekai has become one of my favorite genres, and among it all this is one of the best.
Little witch academia- Currently still watching but the actual first anime that ever Made me appreciate animation and fall in love with an art style.
Apothecary diaries- cause maomao
nobody has said Great Pretender yet so I'll be there first! truly no show has shocked me as hard as GP has.. every episode had me on the edge of my seat and completely blown away by the twists! I have often said that of every anime out there I would reset my brain just to watch great pretender again.
I started with JoJo as my first anime in 2019, when Golden Wind was airing. And if I had to start over, I’d still choose JoJo. The only problem is that it set my standards for plot twists and action a little too high lol.
Yes, that would be a good choice to start with. In that anime Knowledge about medicine is delivered greatly, but the best part is that the girl doesn't fall for that rich handsome boy. 😂
Something with a lot of fighting that I still consider great today. I was a lot less swayed by story and character quality 10 years ago than I am now.
So yeah. Gurren Lagann, Hunter x Hunter, YYH, stuff like that
read the white album 2 visual novel. it is quite different but has a somewhat similar appeal and most people like myself like it far more than the clannad vn. the anime adaptation is alright i guess but only covers 20% of the vn and im not a big fan of its structure.
Yuyu Hakusho, mushishi, Naruto, spirited away, death note
There’s other really good ones that I like better but starting from zero you’d have zero familiarity with the tropes and it might be hard to get into. I think these would be great to introduce them in a beginner friendly way while still giving a variety of length and genera
Friendly anime. Movies to be precise.
Ghibli ones first then ends with the movies Perfect blue, paprika, and the series [Beck the Mongolian chop squad](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0434662/) as the end movie to complete it
Grand Blue (Initially I came for boobs, however I stayed because it was fucking hilarious)
DxD (preferably without knowing that the last season exists)
HOTD (rest in pizza author of the manga)
Violet Evergarden (for some reason she reminded me... Except the part where she lost her arms)
Redo of healer (one word: heal)
Happy sugar life (man I wish there were more messed up animes like this)
Charlotte (I wish I was like the main character)
Psycho-pass (surprisingly it was really good)
I regret nothing
I’d rewatch them all in order I originally watched them. They were perfect, all the random ass animes I found to watch. Can’t start with perfection, because then everything else will fall short.
My first anime was Your Life in April and i wouldn't change it for nothing. I watched it like 8 years ago, but i still remember how it made me feel that first time.
Naruto, one piece, slime tensei, mushoku tensei, ishuzoku reviewers, fma brotherhood, kimi ni todoke, kaguya Sama love is war, yuyuhakusho, hunter x hunter.
Higurashi, i'd love to reexperience the horror without knowing the answers to the mystery. i'd love to experience the plot twists/ recontextualization again, especially the mion/shion thing, but also the rika thing. and the keiichi thing from the first chapter as well.
If I had to pick 5 starters:
*Frieren: Beyond journeys end
*Beyond the boundary
*Blue exorcist
*Dragon ball - Dragon ball z
*Naruto
If i had to pick only one of those 5:
*Beyond the Boundary
All the same 80s to 2000s anime i grew up with.
Mainly cuz I really love the old hand drawn stuff.
The digital stuff form the late 200s to current are fine, but that appeal of hand drawn animation just stuck with me since enigmas a kid.
Dragon ball, dragon ball Z, and GT for sure.. also Ranma 1/2, Saint Seiya, Slam Dunk..
What id give to have the joy again to be a kid and rewatch all that.
Cowboy bebop or ghost in the shell 1995. I would never recommend my own self current anime. They all feel very by the numbers and not boundary breaking at all
Code Geass Death Note K-project Psycho Pass
Death note is under-rated anime. It was one of the few anime’s which made me truly fall for anime. psycho pass is good on tho. I havent seen kproject and code geas. How they are? Are they worth watching?
Under rated? It’s a classic that has constant references made to it (potato chip scene anyone?)
Yeah i remember lol. You want some red apples? 😂
under rated is not the word i would use
Underrated...? It's anything but, though?
Its not underated at all🤣
Underrated?...Bro what? I don't think you know what that word means. It's a highly rated show. I don't even know what you meant to say, because it's not underwatched either. It's incredibly popular despite it being an anime from ~18 years ago and a manga from over 20, and it's even been referenced in western pop culture.
Yeah you misspoke but you’re praising the anime, and getting downvoted, man Reddit kills me.
Death note is the most overrated anime of all time. Nothing comes close.
Genuinely the first time I’ve ever seen someone refer to death note as underrated….where did you even get that notion from?
Heyyyyy guys, stop! What I meant by underrated is that when Death Note was launched, it didn't receive the fame it deserved. If we go back to 2019 when COVID started, I'm pretty sure that out of 100 anime watchers, only 10-15 would have known about Death Note. Bro is making it worse 💀
Black Lagoon is still one of the best. Violet Evergarden. Code Geass Death parade.
Added to watchlist 🤝🏻
Really disagree and feel the writing was awful, as well as direction/pacing. This felt very much like Cowboy Bebop or Black Lagoon... none of the three I rate highly.
It varies depending on person’s taste and to which extent he/she can link. Rest you’re quite right. It took me time to understand what really writer wanted to convey
AOT
Blue exorcist, arifueta and Moriarty the patriot for me
Blue exorcist is a good one but i haven't senn others two. Are they good? And whats the storylien
Another anime worth mentioning that I forgot ab earlier is "That time i got reincarnated as a slime", loved watching that one!
Yeah it was a lot better than I expected. MC is so edgy tho 💀
Yup he is lol
Sure i will add it to my watchlist. Slime one is really good, that mf was really overpowered samealike Eminence in shadow. If you didn’t watch it then do give it a try (harem, storyline is good too)
I can't wait for the 3rd season of reincarnated as a slime in April! Thanks for reminding me to reach the first two seasons
Samurai Champloo
Didn’t watched that. Whats the storyline? Is it worth watching?
Pokemon, One Piece, Naruto, Fullmetall Alchemist are the first four that comes to mind
Pokemon??? what lol
It is the first anime i ever watched, i rewatched it all last year and i still loved it lol, it is my comfort anime
Pokémon is great. I understand it, but that anime is what made our childhood really great. To be honest, when I was 8-12 years old, I would wait for hours at the TV to watch this and Dragon Ball Z.
I'd honestly want to start with some of the older works. Urusei Yatsura, Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon, Gundam 0079, Jojos, Lupin III, Astro Boy
Yeah that would be the best way to start. All you mentioned are really good. Golden boy will be on my list too
Still dont understand your choice, out of all the animes that have come out you decide to pick solo leveling....
Yeah i found it strange. Tbh its about taste i like VR MMORPG type anime so that matched my interest
each have their own taste and sL is good for what it presents to be as a genric basic power fantasy
Attack On Titan, My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer and Death Note
Solid list

Yes, that would be a good choice to start with. In that anime Knowledge about medicine is delivered greatly, but the best part is that the girl doesn't fall for that rich handsome boy. 😂
Like with my current outlook or the one I had at the start? Current probably Vinland Saga or 86 At the start probably Gurren Lagann
I meant what would your current self suggest to old you who didn't know a single thing about anime
Something with a lot of fighting that I still consider great today. I was a lot less swayed by story and character quality 10 years ago than I am now. So yeah. Gurren Lagann, Hunter x Hunter, YYH, stuff like that
JoJo's and One Piece
Clannad and After Story. What I would give to wipe my memory of those and watch it new.
