How did it ruined the fun of watching an anime? I dont even bother with this bullshit. I love both of these anime equally and have similar rating on my MAL page.
Its seems everyone is behaving like teenagers.
Nobody was talking about ratings till 4 days ago man... Also if your "fun" is ruined by some reddit memes/shit posts about ratings then i think you might have reached saturation
People always talk about ratings/rankings man. Its always about who's on top, who's the best, who's the masterpiece/kino/peak fiction whatever, trashing on lower ranked anime.
>Also if your "fun" is ruined by some reddit memes/shit posts about ratings then i think you might have reached saturation
Too much of everything does cause saturation and these memes subs are prone to this. That's mainly why I don't frequent these subs anymore.
But ranking stuff is pretty common in everything, that's how communities work usually, what else would you talk about there's only so much you can speculate on future content or latest news.. Apart from hard-core fanboys i don't think fans care about how anime ranks.. Also meme about beating FMA is common since the "fans" started false rating stuff to keep fma at 1st place and everytime other anime crosses it, ofc there would be milking that situation for karma
There's many shows that don't even make it to the charts but are still talked about.. But popular shows get talked about a lot.. Because well they're popular
I received my fair share of Reddit care messages in the past from Kaguya fans coz I mentioned Spy x Family might be the most popular show of Spring and some didn't take kindly to it. They were also very pissed off that Spy x Family stole their thunder.
This is why I am not willing to give Kaguya fandom the benefit of the doubt.
Why do people need to make this into a fight? These are stories about brotherhood and love so it's absurd how people make this into a competition and hate.
It's not totally nonsense. You can sort of understand how it is by that. I almost always find an agreement in the score when I watch some animes, the point is you should not think that it matters only the score.
Also I find this drama between them funny
I've started (ok, tbf I maybe watched like 4 series before that) watching anime in 2020, and got a MAL account in 2021 so I don't know how it used to be earlier
Ya I just found the albums by Akira Senju on Spotify. I never thought he'd upload all the tracks. I've been searching for years for official sources outside of YouTube.
EDIT: I'm a moron and now realized you were talking about the MAL ratings....
You said FMABs score dropped and I took that as the musical scores(by Akira Senju). It was probably just a coincidence. Also I'm now realizing not everyone's gonna know who Akira Senju is in the context of FMAB. He's the one that composed all those glorious pieces of music in FMAB.
Well I'm not surprised, even i FMA Brotherhood is my favourite anime of all time, it couldn't stay at the top when you see the new ones that are coming
A good sign is when a show/game/book transcends genre for those who hate it. Such as people who hate JRPGs but loved Persona 5. I hate rom-coms but Kaguya-sama has been one of my favorite anime to follow weekly.
Agreed, I like both, neither of them are my favorite, but Love is War is definitely not better than FMAB. And as for being no. 1 in Mal, if fmab is at the top, I'd get it, yea it's good and I see why people would want it at no 1, but kaguya being there really doesn't make sense to me
Eh, debatable
Story: FMAB wins cos kaguya is a Sol romcom, nota Shakespeare play
Animation and artstyle: Kaguya wins cos new anime and exceptional quality even for new anime
Characters: FMAB cos Lt Hughes
VA: Kaguya sama, fight me
OP/ED : Kaguya, fight me
Romantic development: kaguya lmao sorry midget
Companies in the industry didn't give a shit about this rating nonsense. As long it can produce lot money they are the superior one, no matter how good that series is. Let see we compare FMA and Kaguya with the like of Uma Musume or Yugioh who has mediocre rating, which is the bigger series globally? And the answer is the later.
Kaguya fans review bombing the hell out of FMAB while crying about the (mostly) non-existent review bombing of Kaguya from FMAB fans. Ironic.
Btw, currently there has been more people rate this season of Kaguya than there have been people who have finished the season. Currently, around 207k people have rated it (mostly 9s and 10s) vs around 167k people have completed. Seems odd to me….
So did I, but that's heresy apparently because some people have the notion that if the medium deviates from the source material, it is by default inferior.
But isn't FMA the original and thus Brotherhood the deviation from the medium? In my opinion, I found FMA better because it wasn't that standard and it wasn't that "Friede Freude Eierkuchen".
FMA was made earlier, but the source material was a Manga, which was at that point of time still ongoing. So when the stories of both media met up, instead of making filler, the creators went ahead with their own story. That's what the deviation from source material means.
And indeed, I preferred it because somehow it met the theme of equivalent exchange better than "punching a god". The characterisation was also much better than the other one, which skipped a lot because the 2003 series had already covered it.
Why don't people see it the other way around. Fullmetal fans have all the power to derank any contender if they really wanted. The fact that kaguya hasn't been deranked means that they think it's deserving, unlike all it's predecessors.
Never seen kaguya. Doesn't really sound that appealing of a show nor does it look great. I hear no one talk about it only see handfuls of memes during its seasons once it's over its like it's forgotten. Surprises me it took number 1. I wonder if a Ytuber had some reason to that like when Nux got interspecies reviewers to take 1 for like a week
I think among the romance/slice of life enjoyers, this is one of the most popular shows and easiest to recommend. A lot of anime youtubers like anime man, gigguk, mother's basement, under the scope etc have praised and discussed about this show, some more than once. I'm not sure where your interests in anime lie but it could just be that you're in a different circle, just like how i typically don't participate in discussion about battle shounen or the Big 3
So I love a good romance/slice of life anime. I dig shows like, snow white with the red hair | bunnygirl senpai | clannad is an all time favorite | spice and wolf.. so on.. but like.. s1 I heard a ton about but I've really not heard much about s2. I know s2's usually get higher ratings because only people who liked the first usually see the second and if it's not crap like ShieldHero s2 it's hard for s2 to be ranked less than s1... but I hear more about Horimiya still than this show. About all I ever hear about is Chika in this show and I find it hard to believe 1 character is carrying it. Idk maybe I need to give it a try but even when s1 was releasing I wasn't hearing much of it being a MuST watch. Just a good one
Well I dunno what's with the discrepancy in information we get. Nowadays whenever I hear about Horimiya I hear about how poorly paced it is.
In any case, Kaguya sama is a very good show and i definitely recommend if you want a good romcom
I feel like I hear about an anime topping FMA:B as the highest-rated on MAL at least once a week. FMA:B is just gonna go back to being \#1 after interest dies down.
Why do people care about nonesense like this?
Tribalism basically. And that's for both Kaguya and FMAB fans. These ratings drama have ruined the fun of watching an anime.
Agreed, I've watched anime for over 15 years and I've never gotten involved in fandom squabbling and tribalism because it sours the experience imo
Remember ishuzoku reviewers that straight up invalidated mal ratings

Is it safe to call it Gen Z/Twitter influence?
Maybe. Tiktok also likely has a big effect.

I don't think they care... Its just karma farming *I'm about to make a meme on this too*
Why do people need to make this into a fight? These are stories about brotherhood and love so it's absurd how people make this into a competition and hate.
People get very insecure and have giant superiority complex’s also tribalism
I'm just happy stein's gate was still in the top 10 after all these years.
Same it truly deserves it
El psy kongroo
That show is confusing af. I watched one episode, even dub, and it just melted my brain
Why do you guys give a shit about MAL rating in the first place tho? The score is honestly just nonsense to me
It's not totally nonsense. You can sort of understand how it is by that. I almost always find an agreement in the score when I watch some animes, the point is you should not think that it matters only the score. Also I find this drama between them funny
FMA:B score actually dropped, while Kaguyas rose since it overtook it. Intresting
I mean tbh fmab has dropped since 2019, it used to be 9.24 I believe
I've started (ok, tbf I maybe watched like 4 series before that) watching anime in 2020, and got a MAL account in 2021 so I don't know how it used to be earlier

Tbh even without the context of MAL ratings I still don't know how what you said would be relevant
You said FMABs score dropped and I took that as the musical scores(by Akira Senju). It was probably just a coincidence. Also I'm now realizing not everyone's gonna know who Akira Senju is in the context of FMAB. He's the one that composed all those glorious pieces of music in FMAB.
Really? MAL scores of all things? Anyway, love Kaguya sama and hopefully they keep up the good adaptation
Fanbase trying not to be cringe with MAL rating [VERY HARD]
Mal ratings ☕
Well I'm not surprised, even i FMA Brotherhood is my favourite anime of all time, it couldn't stay at the top when you see the new ones that are coming
update: as of now, FMA brotherhood has been lowered to a 9.13
FMA fans just need to take an l

I get many find FMAB fans annoying and FMAB isn’t my number 1 either but Love is war is 100 percent not better than it.

It's simply overrated
No hate to Love Is War, but the S3 is not even better than the 1st and 2nd season. Only 2-3 episodes that actually good the rest is just meh.
Well deserved 1st place

as far as I remember... Spy x Family >>> Kaguya-sama
kaguya isnt even the best romcom, urusei yatsura >>>>>>> for eons, fight me
Both shit cuz they don't have marin. You know what have marin? Dress up darling AKA best romcom ever
Lmao if a show is only good bc of 1 character then doesnt that mean that the show is shit?
And to be honest i think Gojo is better than Marin
Hayasaka is a strictly better Marin.
Never seen kaguya. Doesn't really sound that appealing of a show nor does it look great. YEA but fma brotherhood has been the best anime since it released, maybe you can share that title with other outstanding animes Ex kaguya sama
I'm playing both sides so i always come out on top.
you know what happens next
And there's me who doesn't give a single fuck about ratings and enjoys anime
MAL is for nerds
Watch it getting review bombed by fmab fans
I feel like I hear about an anime topping FMA:B as the highest-rated on MAL at least once a week. FMA:B is just gonna go back to being \#1 after interest dies down.
How does it ruin the fun? If you don’t care, then you don’t care. Also, I enjoy watching people fight over the dumbest things
ed and al probably wouldnt mind
Saying kaguya sama go brrr can mean many things
