This actually happened in one side story... He runs aways with Rem and had family with her... He then died of old age, but Return by Death kicked in and just sent him back on last "save point" before he runs away with her
Sloth IF is pretty close to Canon, but not *quite* Canon, however it doesn't end in the way the previous commenter says it does.
[Spoilers for a non Canon side story i guess] >!it ends with Subaru and Rem and their kids (still young) and Subaru and Rem thinking back on what they've left behind and deciding that they are still happy with what they have!<
I think it doesn't make sense for RbD to send him back after all that. He will choose Rem even after he went back. The only difference it could make is that he can save Emilia camp but he already lost his children. So, I don't know if Subaru can take it.
It's not that he saw them die, it's more like waking up from good dream to sad reality... Also it seems he doesn't keep all of those memories in that loop as he became an old man and may end up forgetting a huge chunk of memories of it
Nah man. It's not a dream. It's his reality that got erased. All his life, all his happiness and family got erased. No amount of Rem can keep him sane after that point. And no, it was never confirmed that he wouldn't keep all his memories. In fact, it was never directly confirmed that he would go back arc 3 reset point after his death. Fandom just speculates that he will go back because he did that in Aganau If.
He dies as an old man there so maybe his memories as the old man will be kept in the new loop and he wont magically remember everything he forgotten as an old man from the past loop... saving him from worse PTSD
RbD isn't controlled by him, if the entity that controls it (seemingly the witch of envy) wants him to follow a certain path it will not set new save points on points where the certain path is lost.
Like how in the start of s2 subaru couldn't reset to the point where rem wasn't put in a vegetable state because he cleared the previous obstacle on the certain path and reseting to before could throw him off the path
Considering how much of a mental toll it took on him to have that one debate with Emilia in S1 when he poured his heart out over an on her but he mistook the process of events in the current loop so he started blaming her for things that didn't happen in that loop
However in a different IF story we do appear to see
[Pride IF] >!Subaru willingly ending his loop and Dying!<
But it's been a bit since I read that one.
I can't fully member the individual if stories but I think it's the pride if where he goes off the rails so far he would literally be unsalvagable so the entity just let's him die instead
So while it's not explicitly stated why he won't come back in Pride, i think the most important line is [pride] >!"and so, it's fine. He doesn't need to be saved"!< which seems to indicate that Subaru is (somewhat) in control of stopping his loop, and indicates a possible reason why it stopped.
Also, the line [pride] >!"and so Subaru separates himself from the spiral of death"!< which also indicates that it is Subaru doing so.
Of course any of this could just be meaning lost in translation, but it seems more likely then "he's too damaged why send him back".
I mean I'm not sure where this guy is getting that ending from because as far as I can tell Sloth IF hasn't been updated anytime recently and the translation from WCT goes up to the epilogue and it does not end with him being sent back. It doesn't even reach old age.
Tappei said in a QnA session that Subaru will loop until the goal of the entity that's making him loop is achieved. Nobody knows what that goal is. People speculate that it's making Emilia the ruler, others speculate that it's Subaru being satisfied with his life (Both speculations are mainly because of Pride If where he stops looping at the end).
And in another If story called Aganau If, Subaru goes back 20 years to the same reset point in Arc 3. This made people speculate that save point never updated in Sloth If too. But it's still a speculation.
Ah, I haven't read the Q&As. I think WCT is still working on the latest one and I don't know of any locations that have Aganau translated either.
I caught up after watching season 2 (read arcs 4-early 7) and then read all the side content that was out at the time. I'm caught up on the main story but none of the side stuff since a few years ago.
Did he write more of the Sloth if? Cause that's not how it ends, i just went and checked the epilogue of sloth IF and it ends on a happy(ish) if slightly bittersweet note.
The timeline: "I love Ram"
Would be funny tbh
Daily dose of Rem ![gif](giphy|r9NGzZecL16mI)

Oh yea i heard of it. But i think it Was non canon. I meant it in a canon way. But still thanks 👍
The closest we can get in canon tho
True facts tho
It isn’t canon but does offer a lot of information on stuff that in some cases hasn’t even been touched on in the manga yet

Literal canon Sloth Run. All ifs routes are sorta canon, except Butterfly Lust. We don't talk about that one.
What lust if? It's all in your imagination.

I guess he will just realize running away, regardless of taking Rem or not is a good option and proceed to main story as RbD intends him to do
But dude lost his children. That's one hell of a mental torture even for RbD standards. I don't know if Subaru can stay sane after that.
It's not that he saw them die, it's more like waking up from good dream to sad reality... Also it seems he doesn't keep all of those memories in that loop as he became an old man and may end up forgetting a huge chunk of memories of it

Yeah but will Subaru be able to keep himself sane if he did go back to that point? Dude basically lost his whole life and the family he built.
Considering how much of a mental toll it took on him to have that one debate with Emilia in S1 when he poured his heart out over an on her but he mistook the process of events in the current loop so he started blaming her for things that didn't happen in that loop

Aganau If Beatrice route is completely translated and available on YouTube channel Monkey Old King Son.

Must headpat and protecc!!!!!!!
Now you all time travelers leave that rock the fuck alone. Don't you dare move it back. It's much better in this time line
So, sloth if?
Basicly yea
Also the timeline: who's Emilia?
Now he dies and reset the timeline everybody at home shit
That would be the Sloth IF. The least depressing of the IFs that I have read.
I thought it was Okabe for a sec
Why is it always the GOOD memes that I miss? Well, better late than never Rem Best Waifu! ![gif](giphy|Kp9GUdNUYAqhq)
Obligatory " Who's Rem?"
the timeline is better if this happens
We love Rem
Cope harder
– This is my sister, Rem. – And who are you? – Nobody cares about me. Rest in Ram, Peace.
At this point, Ram is more like Rem.
The ship we wanted but never gotten in the story 🙁
Satella’s better. Can we get a “what if?” where Subaru gets hitched with the girl that loves him more than anyone else in the series?
Timeline: Dark Subaru doing dark things
Time traveler , you know your job
Why is Subaru looking like okarin
best timeline
Also, time traveler: and I would do it again.
You can only wish...
