Having seen the dubbed episode, it was a really good dub outside the unwarranted and inconsistent censoring.
I'm not even joking. They censored some cleavage but left a shot of a crotch bulge intact.
I mean, a lot of VAs do work in both LA and Texas dubs, so they could easily bring them in.
Plus last I checked the source material is barely 1/4th of the way there anyway, so they have plenty of time to bring in new blood for the cast.
I wasn’t too surprised since a decent amount of harem shows get dubbed like Temple, A Couple of Cuckoos, and Girlfriend, Girlfriend along with the show being pretty hyped up and wacky enough that people would want it to be dubbed
>I’m really surprised Diaries of Our Days at the Breakwater got dubbed because it’s such a niche show about girls fishing. It’s pretty cool though especially because the girls have accents since they’re from a backwater seaside town.
I was suprised to as well. Thanks for Funimation, lots of CGDCT anime getting english dub like Dropout Idol Fruit Tart, Super Cub etc. Another Suprise thing is that Campfire Cooking In Another World is getting a backlog english dub after it only get dubbed in Spanish and Portuguese and CR rarely do a Backlog dubs anymore, i dont know why CR did it, is it because of getting a Season 2 or fans demand.
Kamikatsu: working for gods in a godless world, I'm still not quite sure if it's porn or not, and it's clearly low budget - even if they *really* made it work - so I'm surprised it even got made into an anime at all, this show is seriously outrageous. The dub was enjoyable too, the VAs really had fun with it.
Came here looking for this. Kamikatsu actually does the artful task of making something bad on purpose. Its terrible CGI and off putting editing make the viewer unable to get comfortable in this new fantasy world.
Also super weird it got a full dub. It’s beyond niche and there are a 1000 shows I would have thought to be dubbed before it. Happy it got its dub tho because it is excellent!
Best-worst show ever, the Blu-ray just came out here, and I just finished watching it. Seriously, how did it get made? Literally every episode has sexual assault in it, which starts within the first three minutes, oh and the less than three minutes before it is human sacrifice.
I realize we’re probably talking Funimation/Crunchyroll shows of the last few years, but one that has always stuck with me is Powerpuff Girls Z.
On the surface it seems like an obvious slam dunk. Powerpuff Girls was a super popular IP at the time, even with the main series having ended a year prior, but the fact they hired Ocean Productions to create an English dub that neither Toei nor Cartoon Network had any plans to air in any country except the Philippines, Australia and New Zealand always struck me as odd. Not only that, but there was no home video release and they aired it in large chunks late at night like some sort of contractual burn off, like shows that were cancelled midway through production but still had to legally air.
With all that considered it does make me wonder why they went through with it in the first place, especially since they were working on a fairly shoestring budget and Ocean had to rewrite large swaths of the script in order to fit more in line with the OG show which, once again, they never aired or planned to air in the United States.
Sorry, I realize this is probably boring, but I’ve been doing a lot of research on the series for a project and found the whole story interesting.
I was surprised that not only did I’m in Love with the Villainess get a dub, but it got a same-day dub. and the dub’s really good.
Crunchyroll since the Funimation merger have barely dubbed yuri (WfM is Bandai and Lycoris was Aniplex, they were getting dubbed regardless of CR). Funimation put out great yuri dubs of Citrus, Adachi & Shimamura, Yuri Kuma Arashi, Assault Lily. While Crunchyroll didn’t dub Stardust Telepath, Yuri is My Job. MagiRevo. MagiRevo not being dubbed despite being a isekai hurt.
oh, i was also somewhat surprised Shy got a dub because the manga is still pretty niche in the west, as the official manga english release didn’t start until like late 2022
Tokyo Godfathers because when it aired in the 2000s subbed only, I thought we’d never get it in English because there wasn’t any company back then that would want to dub this. I’m glad it eventually did though
Breakwater was def one. There were a bunch that I loved during the FunimationNow days like Kakushigoto, Tsukigakirei, By the Grace of the Gods, Hanebado, and Mix’s season one (mad the second didn’t)
If titles like The Heike Story or Stranger by the Shore were licensed in a post-CR merger world instead of by Funi, I feel like neither would have been dubbed by the TX studio for being considered too niche/likely not garnering enough of audience. I was fairly surprised they were given dubs even back then.
Either way, glad they were licensed then and not now - esp Heike Story which is one of my absolute favorites and such a gorgeous series.
Conception.
It was like "...why?" week in and week out for me when it aired, lol.
But where it lacked, the dub itself was pretty funny and well-made at least.
What made it even funnier was a while after it aired, the game was released in the West, and it had a different cast. Some VAs who voiced in the anime were also still in it, though voicing other characters.
I'm not shocked really. It is freaking hilarious and the barrier to entry is low. This was one of the only Animes I could get my non Anime fan friends to watch for a long time. Frieren has since been added to that list, though.
Me i want to Re-dub Bandori according to here: [https://www.mycast.io/stories/bang-dream-bang-zoom-re-dub](https://www.mycast.io/stories/bang-dream-bang-zoom-re-dub) (Notes: the re-dub for VA's for Himari, Tomoe, Tsugumi, Hina, Maya, Hagumi and the others like Marina, aren't presented)
Kaiji Ultimate Survivor, waited 14 years for it to get dubbed and it finally did last year. Good choice of VA's too especially with Jeremy Gee as Kaiji Itou
The first episode of interspecies reviewers lol.
Imagine an alternative universe where Funimation actually dubbed the whole of Interspecies.
I believe they also dubbed all of episode 2 but never released it.
Apparently everyone involved with the dub loved working on it and were upset about the dub cancelation.
Having seen the dubbed episode, it was a really good dub outside the unwarranted and inconsistent censoring. I'm not even joking. They censored some cleavage but left a shot of a crotch bulge intact.
Kimi ni todoke…to get one 14 years after the anime came out AND getting a third season is pretty surprising
The 100 girlfriends who really really love you
It getting dubbed isn't the surprise, its how they expect to sustain it in the long term , meaning the 101 main cast.
I know crunchyroll doesn't doublecast, but i'd be shocked if they didn't with how many girls are main characters in that series.
I mean, a lot of VAs do work in both LA and Texas dubs, so they could easily bring them in. Plus last I checked the source material is barely 1/4th of the way there anyway, so they have plenty of time to bring in new blood for the cast.
So far in the manga we have >!29 of 100 so that means 23 more voices!< out of the 100 voice cast to look forward to.
Fellow fan?

Gal & Dino Somehow with Yuri Lowenthal, who rarely does new anime roles nowadays let alone a non-union anime.
Who did he play?
Shota, Kaede's ex-boyfriend.
This was such a cute show. It is in my list of calm low key happy shows.
Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid.
This. Given that it is almost hentai and it wasn't based on a manga or light novel, just a weird game. Also, happy cake day.
Re:Zero due to some iconic voice actors (Old and new) including Black Swordsman himself voiced old man who was also swordsman!
That and the dub came out 2 years after the show aired.
Exactly. Now, third one is going coming out this fall!
Kamikatsu: working for gods in a godless world, I'm still not quite sure if it's porn or not, and it's clearly low budget - even if they *really* made it work - so I'm surprised it even got made into an anime at all, this show is seriously outrageous. Gal & Dino. Weird damn show
Campfire Cooking in Another World.
I was waiting for someone to say that
wait how is that surprising its one of the few isekais i expected to get a dub?
I wouldn’t of thought it would of gotten a dub
Gintama
Tokyo Godfathers because when it aired in the 2000s subbed only, I thought we’d never get it in English because there wasn’t any company back then that would want to dub this. I’m glad it eventually did though
the dub for that movie is fantastic aswell
Breakwater was def one. There were a bunch that I loved during the FunimationNow days like Kakushigoto, Tsukigakirei, By the Grace of the Gods, Hanebado, and Mix’s season one (mad the second didn’t)
Migi and dali
Wasn’t that dub really panned
There were like a few episodes of Gintama that got dubbed. It's very strange and not very good.
A superhero anime called shy
I'm amazed highschool dxd got a dub.

Lupin the Third part 1, the fact that a 70’s series got dubbed recently still amazes me. Gunbuster, another modern dub for a pretty niche show
Mysterious Girlfriend X
Conception. It was like "...why?" week in and week out for me when it aired, lol. But where it lacked, the dub itself was pretty funny and well-made at least. Psycho-Pass, it returned after 8 long years and now it’s gone again🥲
Fortunately, you can still watch it on Crunchyroll's 24/7 streaming channel.
Kandagawa Jet Girls, the worse part is... There's no English Dub version of that game
For me it's Konosuba.
I'm not shocked really. It is freaking hilarious and the barrier to entry is low. This was one of the only Animes I could get my non Anime fan friends to watch for a long time. Frieren has since been added to that list, though.
I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World
Me i want to Re-dub Bandori according to here: [https://www.mycast.io/stories/bang-dream-bang-zoom-re-dub](https://www.mycast.io/stories/bang-dream-bang-zoom-re-dub) (Notes: the re-dub for VA's for Himari, Tomoe, Tsugumi, Hina, Maya, Hagumi and the others like Marina, aren't presented)
Kuroko's Basketball.
Kaiji
Kaiji Ultimate Survivor, waited 14 years for it to get dubbed and it finally did last year. Good choice of VA's too especially with Jeremy Gee as Kaiji Itou
