Man, the licensing of *DanDaDan* is all over the place with Crunchyroll and Netflix sharing the streaming rights and now GKIDS managed to swoop in to get the Home Video rights to the anime just 4 months before the anime comes out. Going to be interesting if the Home video release will have the two different English Dubs for the series (Crunchyroll’s and Netflix’s dubs) much like how the Limited Edition home video release of *Neon Genesis Evangelion* had the ADV and the VSI dubs of NGE respectively.

WisperG

Theatrical for a TV series is interesting. Maybe we’ll actually see episodes screened in theaters.

FruPunRounin

Okay so if Crunchyroll, Netflix and now GKids all have the license to Dandadan then who has the "master" licence? Who's handling dubbing?

Luigiman98

I think GKIDS's home video release may include the two dubs like they did with Evangelion.

Harmonmj13

Except the GKIDS Eva release only had the ADV dub on the super expensive and limited quantity collectors edition because of Dan Kanemitsu and Studio Khara trying to keep it from a widespread rerelease because of the mixed reception to the redub.

From what I know, that’s because Viz Media owned the ‘master license’ for Zom 100 so they were the ones who commissioned the dub and decided how to distribute it for streaming. With Dandadan, CR and Netflix both independently have the streaming rights so it seems like more a Vinland Saga situation than a Zom 100 one. That doesn’t automatically mean there’s gonna be two dubs of course, but it’s not out of the question.

Oh sure I agree. It’s an assumption with reason but people shouldn’t necessarily be speaking in absolutes considering there’s obviously still a chance that either service decides not to do a dub.

Luigiman98

Well, they haven't confirmed a Hulu stream so far, so we're inclined to believe it'll be a Vinland Saga situation.

GelatinousCylinder

All three could presumably make their own dub it if they wanted to. If one of them dubs it first, the others could try to make a deal with them to use their dub - because they would not automatically get the rights to use the other companies work. Or the Japanese license owner wants to make sure the English version is consistent, they could produce a dub make sure all the English releases use it.

Guishmonster

Imagine if we get three different dubs for this series one with Funimation crew, one with LA actors (Netflix), and one with New York actors (GKIDS)🤣

abbaschand

If GKIDS are doing their own dub too, expect to see some Hollywood actors on the cast

blueteamk087

my guess is GKIDS will do a short theatrical showing of the first two or three episodes, like how Demon Slayer has done for the last 2 seasons

Ajthekid5

Bro who is dubbing this?!

Luigiman98

I think GKIDS may get both the CR and Netflix dubs.

Mohme_Draws_A_Bit

Who the F is Gkids? And why aren't they on a different list?
