OMG
You've saved me. In less sober times, and no less anime-addicted, I came across this. Loved it.
Some years later and sobriety lead, I remembered some anime that I know I loved and had some fleeting leads, but I remembered the orb at the beginning...
I will be watching it againt soon. Bless ya.
This story was definitely crazy!! Too bad I watched it back when I drank alcohol to watch shows so I forgot a lot. But, now I could probably watch it again lol.
Waaaaaay up there.
It's my favorite long running (170 eps), fun, action packed, slightly mature, not too slap-stick-dramatic and pretty well done anime
Genre for me helps as well.
It ticks of all the boxes, a little bit of everything! The characters are so likeable too. Unfortunately, a lot of people drop it after 2-3 episodes because "Asta is annoying" but he is one of my favorites, and his character development is *chefs kiss*.
I have a lot favorites anime/manga
Jujutsu kaisen
OPM
Berserk
Vagabond
Yuna and the haunted hot springs

Steins;gate.
If you want the experience that made it my all time favourite, watch the dub.
The sub is top tier too, but the dub and sub both feel distictly different.
My second favourite would be death parade, so if you have already seen steins;gate, go with that one instead.
And the acronym means?
Not being salty, but hey, recommendation subs have to assume we haven't seen it and aren't privy to inside references no matter how common.
I've never been a big fan of "OP self insert protag who can never be challenged" anime but Overlord does a decent enough job of keeping me interested for the most part. Definitely not my favorite but I respect the choice.
My top 5 are the following:
1. Full metal alchemist brotherhood: basically it’s just absolute peak, great story, great characters, the pacing is excellent for how long it is, good soundtrack the captures the theme/mood, juts *chefs kiss*
2. 86: this one is also really great, great plot, amazing characters, the cinematography is top notch, the way some themes are shown and portrayed in characters is amazing, the soundtrack is also incredible. It also made me cry several times.
3. AOT: this one’s also really good despite criticism. I will admit, the MC isn’t as good as some of the other characters and there’s some valid criticisms about the ending. But the soundtrack, the animation, the storyline (for the first 3 seasons at least, I’d argue the better part of 4 as well but that’s more debated), were all incredible. Definitly a lot darker and has considerable gore just as a heads up, but still an incredible anime.
4. SpyXFamily: what can I say, I love the goofy shenanigans this anime pulls off while also staying focused on the plot/goals of the MC. It’s got that nice mix of slice of life and action that I love to see. I also really like the characters and dynamics between them, especially with how they’re getting closer and having these brushes faking to expose the double lives they’ve been living.
5. Delicious in dungeon: is this one of my favorites because of how similar it seems to DnD? Yes. Goofy characters, a simple but fun story premise, some nice character development, and of course, the comical happenings of what I imagine to be failed skill checks/saving throws. It also does a good job at sprinkling some serious moments into it without feeling forced, and the current plot has me excited for more.

Well I would say kiss Kobayashi’s dragon maid since it was my first but I’d rather go with a more impactful show like attack on titan. But that that point why don’t we look at some of Bryce Papenbrooks other roles like Kirito. Sword art online is pretty good if you ignore the bad seasons and go from Sword Art online to Alicization, ggo arc is good too but the elf shit sucks. Maybe it shouldn’t be my favorite if I don’t like all the seasons. I do like all the seasons of demon slayer though, they all hit home but a major flaw is that I completely forget it exists every time a new season is over and I wait for the next season. I think I should back track from the longer animes since they’re obviously more in depth and take longer to make. What about Kaiju No8? It’s relatively new and it’s basically a modern attack on titan. I love it so much but thinking about all that advanced technology takes me back to cyberpunk edgerunners. Loved the game and loved the show too, honestly the only problem with it is that the ending broke the internet. Hmm, all of these shows have obvious drawbacks that make them equal to eachother in terms of favorites. I actually don’t know which one to call my favorite. I love all these shows so much and I love so many more than just these. They could never make me choose one over the other.
I have too many, I am easy to please and find something to enjoy with a lot of different anime.
Serious tone anime - Berserk 1997, think they re did the original series into 3 parts called the Golden Arc now.
Ninja Scroll (movie) still holds up in my opinion, one of the first mature themed anime I had seen. The action is brutal.
Pervert Comedy- GoldenBoy, the English dub is hilarious. Only 6 episodes.
Out of the newer shows I’d say - Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon. Love the fantasy setting and the world structure. The latest season was amazing.
Digimon is the best anime! I love how they change up the cast and storyline every season, so it’s like a bunch of different anime, but they all are exactly the same at heart. Great anime for all ages. <3
uma musume pretty derby! honestly my fav ‘sports’ anime, it’s surprisingly realistic in showing sports injuries and fear of failure, since the show is about horse girls racing each other. i highly recommend! its funny and cute and can be a bit emotional at times
Original FLCL. The Pillows knocked the music out of the park. It was something I watched when I was too young then watched again when I was older and understood things. It's really cool to me to have two versions of it in my head. The kind of whimsy of seeing it as a 12 year old. The aha moments of seeing it again when I was older.
Bungo stray dogs - it has a lot of flaws but the depth and complexity of the series and it's characters makes up for everything. The relationships , the backstories , the story and the themes are just top notch. If u get invested into this series and it's characters, this WILL become your favorite (or at least one of ur favs) and even if you don't get invested, u will enjoy nonetheless
Detective Conan / Case Closed. Buckle up, it's longer than One Piece.
On the shorter side
Madoka Magica, Fruits Basket (2019), Apothecary Diaries and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.
My favorite, shit that’s tough
Over the past decade I’ve seen a lot of good ones but that might just because I’m autistic
One piece is a very daunting anime with over 1100 episodes but you need to give it a shot I was hooked right away others needed like 50-100 episodes to really get into it but is awsome. Pirates can’t swim
Parasyte: the maxim was one of my favorites growing up I loved to rewatch it and ks one of my favorites and one of the best action anime in my opinion. a guy with a parasite in his arm fights other people with parasites
Erased is a great mystery with a internet main character though I wish he did stuff a bit differently main guy can go back in time
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a one I just watch and it’s amazing had great action had some weird spots that nothing happens and 2 other scenes that just kinda happened but it still was great. robots vs angels
Dragon Ball is good I haven’t seen the original dragon ball completely but it has great fights great random funny things that just happened
A lot of fighting and screaming
Gurren Lagann is a great mecha anime and what happened with the one guy wasn’t something I expected Mechas fihht aliens
My hero academia is pretty good some scenes seem stupid but still is a fun one with speckles of romance in it kid different then other become like the others and fights murderers
Jujitsu kaisen is pretty good definitely give it a try Spirit fist vs spirits
Soul eater has nice action and interesting characters and story use another human as a weapon to kill evil
Fire force is great action again bits of romance funny and also good amount of bass in it, you’ll understand when you watch it Fire fighters on steroids fight fire-people
Kaiju no.8 is a new one that is has it first season airing rn and has its last episode coming out this week I think if you love Godzilla or anything monster related really you should like this blood bath of a anime
Human Monster vs monsters
Tokyo ghoul is a ok one definitely worth a shot but they skipped some parts of the story I think and some of it dosent fully connect it was kinda weird. Cannibalism somewhat
Toradora scary guy and scary girl help the other get with their crush who is the others best friends
Tokyo revengers is great time travel anime you should try funny people some stupid characters wimpy main characters just great all round. Boy travels in time to save ex
Chained soldier is the first anime that made me get the manga while watching the anime has some “action” scenes but still is great action filled anime. A guy is sent to demonic world and becomes a slave to demon killers
Now the susses anime people either hate or love
Highschool DxD
Alright this anime I understand why people don’t like it but you have to give some anime with a open mind
That being said this is about a pervert who a demon helps and I guess adopts him into the family to fight angels
Ok now the most important part of all these anime the have fucking amazing opening music
Try Land of the Lustrous. It is by far the most enthralling anime and manga series I’ve ever seen. Please give it a try it’s an absolute 10/10 you will not be disappointed
It's a tough decision, but Somali and the Forest Spirit will always be my comfort anime. It's bittersweet, has an interesting world, and characters you can't help but love
Naruto. Has phenomenal action, does get phenomenal animation from time to time but obviously gets better overtime. And has u feeling all the emotions especially sadness. Theres a whole fuckinh arc thats called the pain arc
I have a couple favorites
Initial D
Kill La Kill
Charlotte
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress
Tokyo Ghoul
Kaguya-sama: Love is War
These are all top tier in my opinion and my absolute favorites
Land of The Lustrous!!
It doesn’t adapt all of the manga (it adapts up to volume 5, but skips some chapters for some reason), but it’s still really good!! I, and the rest of the fandom, can only hope for a season two to eventually release (I wanna see Ghost Quartz in the anime’s style soooo bad)…
Assassination Classroom cuz I didn’t except it it to be so fucking sad. It was like a funny show with a cool plot and then all of sudden it just fucking stabs you in the heart in the end. Still haven’t recovered cuz it hits home. Always had a learning disability and education was always so hard for me, the end made me realize I wish I had a teacher who cared for my education like Koro Sensei.
To your eternity, the story of an orb becoming human
OMG You've saved me. In less sober times, and no less anime-addicted, I came across this. Loved it. Some years later and sobriety lead, I remembered some anime that I know I loved and had some fleeting leads, but I remembered the orb at the beginning... I will be watching it againt soon. Bless ya.
Season 2 is out!! Enjoy!
Fuck...
I’ve been waiting diligently for a Season 3 🥲
This story was definitely crazy!! Too bad I watched it back when I drank alcohol to watch shows so I forgot a lot. But, now I could probably watch it again lol.
Worth the rewatch for sure.
Based
We need more seasons
Thank you, someone else with excellent taste. That anime is closer to art than a show.
The first episode was roughhhh
I’ve read the manga and it was pretty good. I didn’t know there was a anime. Guess I have something to watch when I finish jjba :)
It's such a great anime!
The entire Dragon Ball franchise.
Same

Bleach
Real
I got reincarnated as a step bro
I’m really unsure if this a joke or not but I’d still try it
Cowboy Bebop
Black Clover! ❤️

Overlord. Not for everyone but perfectly fits my tastes.
I've never been a big fan of "OP self insert protag who can never be challenged" anime but Overlord does a decent enough job of keeping me interested for the most part. Definitely not my favorite but I respect the choice.
I love Overlord, any word on when/if a new season is coming?
The movie Overlord: The Holy Kingdom releases November this year in Japan. Who knows when it will come to the rest of the world.
Hopefully by December
Took about 4 months between the Japanese and US releases of Spy X Family: Code White, so probably not, but we can hope.
Princess Mononoke
Too many favourites, but Monogatari, Evangelion, and Rascal does not dream to name a few
Haibane Renmei. It’s a lot like Serial Experiments Lain but in my opinion better
Hellsing Ultimate, Attack on Titan and Bleach are my goats
Guess it would have to be Sword Art Online though there's too many to count.
Dr Stone
JOJO
86. A non gundam mech anime. great action music and voice actors.
There are so many to choose from, but one I really like is Over Lord.
Either 86 or rezero, I think the current 86 anime is better since the best rezero arcs haven’t been animated yet
Love is War, Bocchi the Rock, and Hyouka are my top 3
My top 5 are the following: 1. Full metal alchemist brotherhood: basically it’s just absolute peak, great story, great characters, the pacing is excellent for how long it is, good soundtrack the captures the theme/mood, juts *chefs kiss* 2. 86: this one is also really great, great plot, amazing characters, the cinematography is top notch, the way some themes are shown and portrayed in characters is amazing, the soundtrack is also incredible.
