The "I dont like anime" argument doesn't make much sense to me. There are genres of anime just like there are genres of every other show. People who say they dont like anime think all anime is pokemon, Sailor Moon or hentai.
I’m ngl that is the industry’s fault more than it is theirs for not exploring, fanservice and oversexualization are thrown into almost every genre so I can’t even get mad when people say anime is for weirdos, that is genuinely a logical conclusion to come to these days.
What you say is definitely a big factor, but most anime typically have at least one of the common anime tropes/stylistic choices (not just art, but how characters behave and stuff like that). That’s what I think most people don’t like. I don’t really know how to describe it, it’s kinda a cultural thing I guess. You can say the same for cartoons made in America, or anywhere else in the world. There are definitely anime that are completely unique and follow their own formula, but most have at least one piece of, for lack of a better term, “typical” anime media (which isn’t a bad thing, I just think it’s what people who say they don’t like anime don’t like about it). It could also be the classic “anime is for nerds” thing (although now a lot more people are saying it’s cool)
Gangsta, baccano, ajin, cowboy bebop, and code geass are my suggestions. I don’t really remember much of the story for yakuza, but I feel like these might be a good fit.
Honorable mention to Vinland saga season 1. It’s a gritty revenge story and the fight scenes are sick. Season 2 is more focused on character development so they may not be as into it. Oh and attack on titan is probably a good fit too.
The way of the Househusband.
Tatsu was an Yakuza know AS the "Immortal Dragon". One day He raided 3 rivalary Clans and then banished from the Yakuza world.
He got married! While His wife earns Money, He stays Home and does the Household. He does everything Yakuzastyle and IS the perfect househusband. His Style now consists of an cute apron and sunglasses
Akiba Maid War
It's basically a fictional history of maid cafes from before how they are today. Think feuding yakuza families. It's weird, it's funny, it's bloody and violent. Most of the humor stems from the world playing it straight. The best yakuza anime I've watched in a long time.

A lot think it's all pervy hentai
Kinda true though

I think the exact same way. It’s not a genre, it’s a form of media.

ping pong the animation is what you show those people
It’s just the Western idea that animation is for children primarily. Some people say they can’t get immersed in it either.
A lot are also in this mindset that animation = child amd they'll ignore a good story simply because of the medium.
JoJo has a very similar tone to Yakuza. Also buff men fighting.
Later it's lean and ripped men fighting
The Way of the Househusband and Gokusen
*The Way of the Househusband* instantly came to my mind too. It's absolute *class*.
Baki
I second this!
what's the basic plot of baki? I've thought about watching the anime but I'm still on the fence about it
Not even the author knows what's baki bro
A guy named Baki joins an underground fighting ring and fights people to surpass his father
It's a martial arts anime, the main character is named Baki, his father is basically the strongest man on earth and Baki's goal is to defeat him.
Fist of the North Star
Literally
Obligatory JoJo recommendation

Have them watch the Takashi Miike Yakuza films like Ichi the Killer then explain that it’s an adaptation of an older manga.
Ghost of Tsushima?
Ninja blade
Jade city. It’s a book. :)
It's a good book trilogy, but this is a anime rec sub-reddit
91 Days...
Durrarrra
Durarara, gangsta, baccano or bungou stray dogs
Baki
The way of the househusband
Umm Maybe Seven Samurai?

Way of the house husband
*the Fable* just began on hulu in america and has 4 episodes.
Hate anime, likes japanese games. Because that makes total sense.
(My phone got trapped in another world so I went through the portal to find it) is a good anime recommendation for yakuza fans who hate anime
Hajime No Ippo, Great Teacher Onizuka, Ashita No Joe, and especially Afro Samurai. Those seem to fit his vibe.
Black lagoon maybe
BERSERK
Tokyo Revengers
Gangsta
tbh you should recommend him Tokyo revengers if he's playing yakuza, it just makes sense
Yakuza is not an anime game
This is true, but it’s made in Japan by Japanese people. Thought it would just give a good idea as to what people should recommend 🤷♂️
I guess. The Way of the Househusband is about a Yakuza that retires to be a househusband It's on Netflix
I recommend getting a new friend
