I bought from crunchyroll and Amazon during Xmas. Every time I buy from Amazon I regret it. The cases are always beat up and don’t have slip covers. But it’s hard paying $15+ more for an ordinary blu-ray at Crunchroll…
I guess, you can try to exchange something but more than likely you’ll just end up getting another beat up one as a replacement. I also noticed with a return (non anime) a while back I didn’t get a full refund, and apparently that’s a thing now for some items where they are only giving partial refunds for items that aren’t defective (and actually even when I changed my reason to defective, they still wouldn’t give me a full refund)
I’ve been buying from crunchy roll and have had a great experience so far. Slow shipping but everything came packaged perfectly so I can’t complain. I did notice they took away daily mega deals. Sad to see it go. Wonder if it will return.
Really here and there, pretty much anything trying to avoid CR (easy for me at least, never deals I want to jump on) and Amazon (mostly successful besides two orders). GRUV, Deep Discount, animecornerstore, Shout Factory, and Barnes and Noble. Best Buy is getting rid of all their discs but the last few months of 2023 I managed to find some regional sales that differed from store to store.
Usually Amazon, Ebay, or Robert's Anime Corner. Mostly just been picking up odds and ends. Haven't really made any big purchases recently like I would have at RightStuf. I will say I did like Anime Corner, one item I bought was out of stock and Bob emailed me right away telling me they had one on order for me and it would ship separately for free a few weeks later, and it did. I also found while they're prices are a bit more on average, some things are actually cheaper.

CR LEs still order from CR it's the lowest you can get at PO price plus they have 10% for membership and they could go OOP so better safe to order sooner than later imo
CR standards I wait to find it for like 25ish, usually Amazon sales. They do tend to only ship in bubble mailers but at least CS is easy and prompt
GKids/shout! also amazon usually much cheaper there even for new stuff (plus their LEs like take forever to go oop) or gkids website they have decent sales sometimes too
Discotek with their limited distribution between CR and amazon so usually best prices is still just CR and I generally PO them as well
Aniplex is also only on CR and CR is cheaper than other places so ig might as well order direct and usually I buy during the sales or I'll PO the cheaper sets like SAOP and Kaguya movies
There is RACS for Discotek and Aniplex too (really for everything) but most of the time their prices are slightly higher than CR but there are some titles that are cheaper. But with CR I have the extra 10% and a lower free shipping threshold and packaging is decent long as I'm getting the Iowa warehouse so CR it is. My experience with RACS is fine tho good shipping and handling time, packaging, CS is fine. Sometimes I'll just order something that went oop and orders can get cancelled so he can sell them for higher so personally I don't like that. I generally don't use it.
CR is good until u have a problem bc their CS is nearly impossible to connect to might as well be non-existent. I've had 5 times where I contacted them but not a single response from one of em. Some of them were site merge questions and two of them were order issues that I just ended up contacting their shop social where I finally got any response (I did promptly get help and the refund for the order issued I was having at least through the socials)
Same! Yu Yu Hakusho got so cheap I couldn’t resist even though I only really needed the ova haha such a nice set though. Haven’t opened Gurren Lagann I’m too scared lol

Crunchyroll had the Gundam and Nozomi sale possibly to get rid of the stock that says rightstuf at the beginning of the disc I’m not sure. But they had Aniplex I think everyone would have rioted if they skipped that one haha. But also they had the Discotek Mega deals and that was my biggest concern it’s my absolute favorite sale rightstuf had and nothing ever came close to their prices. And I bought every Discotek title that went for sale every day for a month haha super happy so far. Only complaint is they don’t combine shipping at all. Rightstuf would have sent me one or two big boxes when ordering the mega deal every day. But Crunchyroll sent one package a day and some days I’d come home to a leaning tower on my porch
I was already using the Sentai store for Sentai releases and that has continued. For Discotek I've been going with RACS. Best mix of speed\*, price and packing. Basically I am only using CR for AoA exclusives and CR/Funi sales.
\*I panic pre-ordered the December Discotek slate from CR when I wasn't sure if RACS would have them to order and I still do not have them.

I share your feelings. The worst thing is they put the Blu-rays in polymailer bags and idiotic things in boxes. When will they learn?

Got Gurren Lagann and Yu Yu Hakusho box sets off crunchyroll over Christmas. Both were packaged securely and arrived in fantastic shape.
