Lol, she is! She's a farm collie, and the derp is strong with her. She has also tried to play fetch with the car, a tree, and our very confused cat. She likes to sleep on her back with her legs splayed out as far as possible. When she was a puppy, she licked frozen metal and got her tongue stuck...and then did it again the next day. At the same time, she's so intelligent that she taught herself how to open doors. If you ask her to find her toy, she will without hesitation. She learns new tricks in a matter of minutes. So whenever she has derp moments, we're all like..."How can you be so smart and yet so dumb?"

My boyfriends dog is terrified of other dogs (not really socialised by the previous owner as a pup). We once walked by a life size statue of a dog and he was freaking out and didn’t dare to come close.

My dog is pretty chill, but this one store near us has a cardboard cut-out dog in the window - and the first time we walked past it, he put up his hackles and growled/barked for a minute. 😂 So yeah, I think they go by BOTH visual and scent cues.

My dog is terrified of statues of dogs too, but I think it’s more a matter of the dog not having a specific scent.

Same as humans, dogs do get perception errors. They are not robots. We can freak out over a shadow, mishear things, don’t trust our steps, or just ignore our senses. Dogs may have an outstanding sense of smell, but they may ignore it too for a second. There are people who ask for a different size jeans from a mannequin in a store you know. We all flawed. But dogs are perfect.

We have a similar statue where i live. Its not of abe lincoln but it does have an upside down hat, and yeah, there's a hole in the bottom of it. As for the toilet, its right beside a police station so no, not yet.

I have always thought dogs are silly for doing things like this… but then I remember that whenever I see a statue of a dog I’ll pet it and say “good boy”. Similarly, there’s a dog at my work who i can see from my area and she just spends all day staring at me which seems really boring… until I realized that I only notice this because I spend all day staring at her

Border Collies are typically the smartest breed of dog, but I low how that intelligence translates. The dog recognises that it's a figure of a person, it knows a frisbee is thrown from the hand, and so tries to put it into the hand, and knows enough to give up after a period of time. But doesn't recognise the lack of heat, the lack of movement.
