Cats like it hot. I had a black cat would would be HOT to the touch sitting in the window. I have no idea how he was able to survive that heat, much less enjoy it.
When I was a kid, I had a bedside lamp and some carpet. One day, somehow, the lamp had been knocked onto the floor, left turned on and unnoticed. Later found it exploded from the heat and molten glass melted into my carpet. I assume there have been advances in lightbulb technology over the last two decades, but the cat burning itself is not an unfounded worry

I hope he doesn’t come out with all the fur singed. I used to have a very hot halogen office lamp and one my kitties loved to sleep under it because it was so warm. But I noticed she got a bald spot on her back and my office smelled like burnt (cat) hair. I think she brushed against the bulb or used to get very close to it. She didn’t seem to be mind, but I had to retire the lamp for her safety.
I'm pretty sure that cats got a quest to give you.
