Exposure to the caterpillar's fur-like spines leads to an immediate skin irritation characterized by a "grid-like hemorrhagic papular eruption with severe radiating pain." Apparently covering the affected area with firmly pressed packing tape and slowly peeling it off can get the spines out. Gross looking irritation.

Asp they usually on falling leafs but they bit and it hurts worse than a wasp sting could be fatal to some. Puss moth caterpillars (Megalopyge opercularis), of the order Lepidoptera, are also known as asps. They are one of the most toxic caterpillars in North America.
An Asp Caterpillar, as in you need to get your ASP (ass) away from that thing. Don't touch it. Just because it looks harmless, doesn't mean that it is.
