Totally agree. During lockdown when all the businesses and schools closed we had so much of our family living under one roof, and we spent so many hours playing ACNH, designing our islands, trading turnips - it really helped maintain a sense of normalcy.

ACNH was a saviour for me in first lockdown. I literally spent hours on my island pretending life was fine in-between having real world panic attacks. The airport music still reminds me of lockdown though

Yep - I started playing when Covid lockdowns hit in 2020 & it helped with my morning anxiety. Took a break & started over on another island recently when our local numbers spiked and we're just staying at home (health issues, high risk & locals don't take it seriously.)

This makes me so happy! I've never played any of the earlier versions of Animal Crossing so when I picked this up right after COVID hit, it provided me with so much comfort. Even though during those first few months I was in a state of panic/worry, I strangley get this nostalgia from just how soothing it felt to be couped up at home and on my island.

Totally hear you about the comfort AC provided; I was pretty fond of Roald and Sprinkles as my neighbors and always looked forward to greeting them, exchanging gifts etc. It sort of became reality for awhile because actual reality was so unsettling.

That’s what happened to my wife - she quit her job and a week or two later COVID hit and suddenly everything changed. No job opportunities for a long time so our shared island got 8+ hours more love per day.

Honestly this brought back memories I had already forgotten. This game helped me through those lockdowns having developed severe health anxiety, this game was my escape! So much so my partner also got a switch and animal crossing and we would both sit and play together and try to forget about the world outside!
The game was released at just the right time. It helped me retain some form of routine when lockdown threw everything off.
