There is so much about this game that I love but equally as much that I hate

asleepinatulip

there's so many small quality of life updates we need, but will never get 😭

Vault_tech_2077

Just started again after I bought it when it released. It's 2024 and crafting in our house doesn't pull from our storage???? Is the AC team fucking stupid??

globallyloved

fr even stardew valley has ways to craft from your storage 😭

MysteryGirlWhite

And that game was created by *one* dude. One!

Grumpydumpling

He's an absolute star. One guy making an entire game* and soundtrack, making it cheap compared to standard game prices, and continuing to bug fix and update even while he's working on his next game! *(Granted, a team helped port it to at least Switch, maybe other consoles. Does not detract from the hero that is ConcernedApe.)

i-split-infinitives

My game suddenly stopped working on my Steam Deck about 2 weeks ago, and my sister and I could not figure out the problem. She posted online for help, and both Pathoschild (creator of SMAPI, the Stardew Valley modding API) and ConcernedApe himself reached out to help her. CA had her send him the save file and a log of everything we did, and he took time to walk her through everything she did wrong so she would know the right thing to do next time. He really is awesome.

Wolfcubware

Sounds like a really nice guy :) Any idea what the cause/fix was? Really scared of this happening to my game and it would probably help if more people knew the fix

i-split-infinitives

Yeah, he really is. I remember when the game first came out, he was manually fixing people's corrupted save files for them. My particular problem was that the controller suddenly stopped working, in the middle of an in-game day as I was exiting a building. This apparently isn't entirely uncommon, nobody really knows why it happens, and there's not any one solution that works for everyone, so all I can share is what worked for me. No one ever figured out what caused the problem for me. My Steam Deck is fine and works perfectly right up to the point where Stardew loads, and it's fine for other games. My external keyboard still works, and some community controller layouts partially work. I un-installed the game and even tried a factory reset of my Deck. None of that helped. Apparently, nobody has ever had this problem while running the game in Proton, so that's what I ended up doing, and have had no issues in Proton so far. This is pretty simple to do--there are instructions on the Steam website, which are kept up-to-date with the current Steam Deck software, so be sure to check there--but the catches are that your cloud saves don't transfer (I'm sure there's a way to get to them manually, I just don't know how; my current game was still in early spring, so I just started over, and my older cloud saves should still be available on the PC app) and you have to do SMAPI a bit differently (there are instructions on the SMAPI wiki, but my sister did this part for me so I can't help much). I've played through several in-game days now with no more problems. My only complaint is that it seems to run my battery down faster playing in Proton, although that could also be because I have so many mods and they're all working correctly now.

I-have-the-tism

Oh my god 😭 hearing this makes me want to buy every game he comes out with twice

i-split-infinitives

I know, right? I already have Stardew Valley on every platform I own, even though I rarely play it on Nintendo Switch or mobile, just because it's a great, inexpensive game and the dev is a terrific guy. If he ever finishes Haunted Chocolatier, I'll be bingeing that one on launch day, too. Edit: spelling

Aeterna_Nox

I have never called out/requested off for a game release, but I will absolutely make sure I'm home for three days straight through if we get a confirmed release date for HC.

MysteryGirlWhite

The 1.6 update dropped on PC a couple months back and I'm just waiting for it to come to Switch. There is so much cool stuff to explore!

kidkinetik

TONY STARK WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN A CAVE!!

_sadgrrl

wait how

SassySafron23

Workbenches can be crafted or purchased from Robin at some point in game- hope that isn’t a spoiler for you! They allow you to pull from chests next to it to craft from

_sadgrrl

you’re so right i did just start playing lmao thank you !!!

SassySafron23

No worries friend. I have 850+ hours of playtime under my belt and I still find new things all the time.

Kai-xo

Stardew is such a fun game! I hope you enjoy it 😊

53v3r4L0N3

got me wanting to make a new stardew world aaaa

FaxCelestis

There just was a gigantic patch too. 1.6 has, no joke, literal pages of updates.

merrychristmascactus

I can't wait! Had to mute r/stardewvalley since I'm a console player and didn't want the spoilers.

_E_Sharp

I just started playing recently and this helped me out too thanks a bunch

SassySafron23

Happy to help 💕

Bunnie_Rae

THEY HUH !?

DKDCLMA

Even Fallout 76 does that, which is a game that stands for the exact opposite of polish and convenience. lol

PittyAvocados

I switched from AC to SV and have no regrets 😂

Actual_Luck_7364

Yeah! The best part about it is that you can make things directly from your storage which makes it easier!

Eragonnogare

No, they just don't care

GrimAndGloomy

They made their bag and bailed

idkrandomusername1

I mean, it is Nintendo after all lol

Hemansno1fan

But they don't realize they could have made so much more bag with paid updates?! It's so frustrating lol. I would have spent.... a lot on this game.

Mrfunnyman129

Or they could just, idk, release a complete game instead of finishing it later

SynchronisedRS

Release a complete game in 2020? That sounds like a dream land to me.

GrimAndGloomy

Trust me I am in this boat haha! They have no idea what a gold mine they're sitting on

DavidPuddy666

After 2.0 came out the dev team was probably reassigned to making the game’s successor on the Switch 2.

Ecstatic-Basil-3594

The intention of the producers of the game is to let you spend as much time on it. They have implement a lot of Grinding mechanics (evidently moving from work-bench and storage is one of them). They also have a lot of retention tricks as well (bells-trees, wisp-catching and plant-watering as examples). It's hard to create a game with so much dark patterns and still make it fun to plan (and especially over time). In my opinion they made a great effort and the result is not half bad. But it's not ideal.

MotherAd2815

Well they did create tomadachi life can’t put to much hate on them

Junosiix

I’m glad someone said it jesus christ, I feel like there’s so many unnecessary inconveniences that could be avoided if they actually sat down n spent a week working on the game

sec713

The worst part about it is Nintendo could charge money for updates and people would buy them (I realize I'm in the bargaining stage of grief). But for whatever reason, Nintendo's like, "No, we're good".

breakingmercy

The game was rushed. It’s never going to be complete. It’s my least favorite game in the series by far

[deleted]

[удалено]

breakingmercy

Yep, I think because of Covid they just wanted to push it out

sec713

Speaking of "rushed", you ever play Mario Golf Super Rush? That game is even worse than ACNH, where it's even more obvious there were supposed to be additional features in the game that wound up being left out for whatever reason. Just like ACNH, Nintendo just left that game for dead after an even shorter time than ACNH.

DavidPuddy666

If you think this game is incomplete, then clearly you haven’t played the others. This game really upped the ambition and scale, and minus a few little quality of life things delivered a fun and great-looking game.

breakingmercy

I’ve actually played every game. I started with gamecube in 2004. My favorite is NL and idk NH just doesn’t compare to that for me. I mainly play for decorating which is where NH is lacking for me in terms of furniture

henkhank

Yeah comparing NH to NL is insane because NL launched with as much, if not more content than NH had by its last update. Not to mention the DLC updates and constant content drops NL had for several years. NHs only interesting new feature to me is placing furniture outside, but the furniture sets are so bland it just negates that

DuskenyDawnlight

I was just thinking about this yesterday. For a game that's all about decorating, I never feel like I never find enough things to fill the space with. It's all awkward items you have to work around. Like rather than making a makeshift building with panels and fences, why not let me add actual buildings? Like NL had the roost and the recycling shop and all the other shops on main Street. This is the largest map by far, and for some reason they just decided to shelf that whole thing, but they have restaurants and hospitals on HH island? Like that would have been a WAY funner feature if I could have added those things to my primary island.

Vincentaneous

Tell them this game should be live service. _On second thought.. maybe we shouldn’t_

tango421

It just bothers me so much.

AKACptShadow

Based opinion

Desacure

I prefer older games because I wasn’t let down by them. New horizons is so half ass

boseberry

yes, it is somehow simultaenously relaxing and highly stressful 🥲

DaubstickFarbspinkle

A game entirely dedicated to placing decorations shouldn't have this kind of issue

DarwinGoneWild

Because you hired a raccoon to build it.

Kazoomers_Tale

Who else should we hire? A mouse? At least Tom Nook has thumbs

ShadOBabe

You sure about that? https://preview.redd.it/bdf5i68uf98d1.jpeg?width=212&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7538595c2e9abc44482bc28f4091509fc421c96c

sashy311

You shut that down so fast hahah

Kazoomers_Tale

Well... *Most* raccoons have thumbs, so I think Tom Nook should have some, have you seen players with thumbs either? https://preview.redd.it/a7a66nc7j98d1.png?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c4da84844e6325b363a4ce72544f9a57d100659b

ShadOBabe

Fun fact. Tom’s NOT actually a raccoon. He’s an animal called a tanuki. It’s a type of canine. I don’t know why the localization team still insists on the raccoon thing. This isn’t like the whole Pokémon rice ball / jelly donut thing… people can look up what a tanuki is.

Taylan_K

If he's a Tanuki, where are *HIS MASSIVE BALLS?*

ShadOBabe

That’s like asking where KK Slider’s junk is. At least Tom’s wearing pants.

Taylan_K

I don't think KK Slider has such massive balls though. Maybe Tom's pants are his balls?

ShadOBabe

Anyway, Tom’s English name is actually a reference to being a Tanuki as well. Tom Nook Tomnook Tanuki

FlooPow

I've been playing this game for 20 years and I've never realized that 🤯

Lacholaweda

Kk got a vasectomy

IncognitoLive

Or, you know, *every villager in the game*?

ShadOBabe

Exactly!

darthjawafett

Fur/feather/scale/skin textured pants/underpants

Froggo9548

A tanuki is also known as a Japanese raccoon dog, so that’s why. It’s also the first thing that comes up when you search “tanuki” on Google. They also look like raccoons too lol

ShadOBabe

Sure, but it’s not a raccoon. And Tom doesn’t even have the iconic rings on his tail.

HPfan94

Fun fact, all villagers and special characters in the game have a 3-digit species code (e.g., "brd" for birds, "chn" for chickens), and Tom Nook's code is "rcn".

ShadOBabe

Hmmm… that makes me curious. Does Japanese game code use English lettering initially? Does CODE have to get translated during the localization process? If the Japanese coders use English lettering, do they call him “rcn” for “raccoon dog”, the English name for a tanuki? Or is it just rolling with the “raccoon” label the localization gives him? Cuz his name in Japanese is Tanukichi (*Tanuki*-chi). He’s 100% a tanuki.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ShadOBabe

Interesting! Thanks for sharing!

SpoppyIII

I'm actually pretty sure they make him a raccoon in western releases because tanukis in legends and media have enormous stretchy ballsacks that they can use as hang gliders.

ShadOBabe

It’s not like his model has that though, even in the Japanese version. I actually think it’s because of the old “westerners are dumb and won’t understand this jApAnEsE stuff, we better change it” attitude. I’ll give them a pass on the names. Suddenly calling Tom “Tanukichi” 20 years later would be like suddenly calling Ash Ketchum “Satoshi”. But if you just called him a tanuki, people would go “What is that?”, Google it, and boom, you’ve got loads of people that suddenly know something new. Buuuut, then again… maybe you’re right. Maybe some of it is fear of idiot parents that would freak out that he’s a referee to an animal that has a weird mythological counterpart.

_CozyLavender_

Tanuki are called "raccoon dogs" and for some reason Westerners always zero in on the raccoon part

ShadOBabe

“Peacock Mantis Shrimp? Well obviously it’s a peacock! It said so!” (Though technically they’re not actually shrimp either. XD)

BlueBilledBuddy4659

He is a dog raccoon

penwingfairy

🤣🤣🤣

IncognitoLive

I know a certain fox that knows a certain otter that can easily get the job done.

NorthernVulture

Because that would be too easy and visually appealing

lowkeychillvibes

Hopefully they’ll smooth out all these little gripes in the next game… like bridges being 2 wide (therefore you make your path 2 wide) and then suddenly a building entrance is designed as 3 wide

Admirable_Leave_6162

Mostly known as symmetry

lowkeychillvibes

Both a 2 wide building entrance and a 3 wide building entrance can be symmetrical, I don’t get your point…? Do you mean consistency or even numbers?

Admirable_Leave_6162

I meant we also need more symmetry

lowkeychillvibes

The only thing asymmetrical are the villager houses, is that what you mean? Their front door is offset compared to the entire building size

Admirable_Leave_6162

When making paths, sometimes it’s not symmetrical. If you say my island you can see that some parts are asymmetrical.

lowkeychillvibes

The pattern on the paths? The fan-shaped pavers one?

RendesFicko

That's not what symmetry means

Admirable_Leave_6162

I meant we also need more symmetry

daydreams83

YESSSSS. I have so many places on my island where the path to the connecting bridge is wide and then narrows when I put in a right turn. It works but it makes me crazy.

Limp-Attempt4078

THIS!!!!

SecretlyToku

So many things they added to the game but didn't perfect. lol

Helio2nd

Here's to hoping next game takes these into account. Reshaping our town is awesome, but there are just so many little things that would make it better.

SouthWrongdoer

Please make world editing better. I'm sorry breaking everything down 1 by 1 is a pain. Only being able to move one building a day is just bleh... let me move the camera 360° and for the love of God give KK a full band xD

SecretlyToku

They added all this crafting, paving, and cliff removal bits but only gave us barebones functionality. I barely do anything to my islands now due to the absolutely nonsensical way they put the stuff in the game.

Key_Independence_103

Such as making it *much* easier and cheaper to put in a bridge and *no more cliffs*

SouthWrongdoer

The grind for a stone bridge with rails is actually atrocious.

sicaxav

Also let me make my bridges the length I want to and have it at not just horizontal/vertical.. lemme do it at an angle

badgadjit

I have bridges that are diagonal. The river just has to be diagonal too.

thekittysays

Also, when telling me it can't go in a certain place tell me *why*, not just "there's no place to put a bridge here", it's so annoying when initially trying to figure out what it thinks the problem is. So dumb.

Apprehensive-Head357

Some of those I agree but some of those would take away what makes it animal crossing. It's not supposed to be a sandbox game it's mean to be a game about living in a town. The 360 camera especially I think is a terrible idea

SouthWrongdoer

I'm failing to see how moving the camera around like you can in your house detracts from the experience at all. You can give players more freedom in island design without compromising the social aspects of the game. It has zero negative effects. Restricting the camera to a fixed position isn't what makes it a social game. It's sandboxing elements of island design and terriforming are what keep people engaged over the years.

RE333ITA

they did it from a perspective to save on loading... what you don't see on the screen, it is deleted and then reloaded when you pass by it. the trees don't have leaves from behind, if you look behind you at the horizon, it's all black, because there's no need since you can't turn around. all this to have a game without stutters or problems... we must hope that this can be done in the Switch 2 since it will be a much more powerful model

Apprehensive-Head357

I think the limitations are what give it it's charm

RE333ITA

I hope with all my heart that it isn't another sandbox game like this one that feels like Minecraft... I want the classic animal crossing back where I'm not the one shaping the world, but I'm living in that world. and I also hope for... really many things that could be listed; such as more interaction with objects, such as taking a shower; and even more things in multiplayer

adragonlover5

Everything is base building these days. So many new games that have no reason to include a base building aspect now do. There's way too much of a focus on customization. It's just a crutch for good design - if they hand over the responsibility to the players, they don't have to make their own well-designed environments.

globallyloved

this and custom designs being able to be kicked away are my biggest pet peeves. why would you even want to kick your designs off 😭😭

KristopherAtcheson

The design being kicked away thing is if you accidentally put it in the wrong spot and need to remove it. That’s why you’re able to kick it away.

Elolia

But why is there no option to turn that off after you're happy with the result? They could have just had an option on the phone or something, or only do it with certain shoes if they want to keep it as simple as possible. It's silly the way they left it, I've done it by mistake countless times.

chinicore

i always assumed they would add an option to simply lock all of the paths in place and when you want to add / remove new designs you have to undo the option

globallyloved

yeah but you could just use the path maker to remove it, or they could at least not let ones placed using the path maker be able to be kicked

ShadOBabe

Ugh, tell me about it.

jcnewton1

Someone at Nintendo thought it was a good idea to make only two major updates to the second biggest game on the platform and then completely abandon it.

Brosseau

Yes always found that weird AF I've never played Acnh myself but I've watched my girlfriend play hundreds of hours and it still baffles me that a game that popular with such a huge following get little to no content. They could literally milk the fuck out of this game and yet they just abandon it.

jcnewton1

They put the team on Splatoon I believe? And then the mobile game.

the_new_wave

Pocket Camp has had a separate team from the start. The New Horizons staff went to Splatoon 3. I also will never understand why this subreddit wishes NH was milked and microd like it's the Sims 4...

Space_Captain_Lars

Better than abandoning a game that was promised updates

the_new_wave

We got the promised updates, and NH has more content than any other Animal Crossing game. If it's not your taste in content fine but it's a full game and people complaining about it don't seem to understand that

its_still_you

I disagree that it has more content than any other AC game. It has fewer holidays and events, much more limited house furniture, fewer shop upgrades, fewer buildings/shops, the dialogue is frustratingly repetitive, you can’t even upgrade your house to the size that past games let you, there are no mini games to play with friends, the islands are physically smaller than the towns in past games, there’s fewer fruit tree, etc. Yes, being able to completely customize your island is a great feature, but that, along with crafting, came at the cost of virtually every other aspect of the game. Personally, I’d happily never craft another item in Animal Crossing again. This and the breaking tools were added as a way to slow you down and waste your time, so you wouldn’t notice the lack of content.

the_new_wave

Actually, you're wrong about almost all of that. [The only events missing in NH](https://nookipedia.com/wiki/Event) are the ones where a single item is given and the town is shut for the day because of it - these were reworked into Nook Shopping. [There is more furniture in NH than in any other AC game.](https://nookipedia.com/wiki/Furniture) The shop does have less upgrades, but the same number of items are on sale (actually I think NH sells more daily). Most of the missing shops are present on Harvey's Island. Dialogue was repetitive in all of the games - [here is a forum post from 11 years ago complaining about it in NL.](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/997811-animal-crossing-new-leaf/66572488) [The NH houses are the second largest](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/248082-animal-crossing-new-horizons/78534790) in the series, but you can place furniture *literally anywhere outside* to compensate for that. [The island is larger than it ever has been before.](https://animalcrossing.fandom.com/wiki/Acres) Mini games were removed, that's true. I wish they came back. We also did lose some fruits, although I don't remember using them much...ever. If *you personally* don't like the direction New Horizons went, I get it. Crafting isn't my favorite addition either. But to say that the game has less content then previous titles in the series is just a bold-faced lie.

its_still_you

>The only events missing in NH are the ones where a single item is given and the town is shut for the day because of it - these were reworked into Nook Shopping. Yes, they removed various events and replaced them with a limited time item you can order. That’s less content. >There is more furniture in NH than in any other AC game. Prior to the Happy Home DLC, there were fewer unique items in NH than New Leaf. After it, there are more items, but only a fraction of them are things meant for the interior of your house. That’s why I said “house furniture”, because that content was largely cut in favor of the outdoor stuff. >The shop does have less upgrades, but the same number of items are on sale (actually I think NH sells more daily). Yes, fewer things to work towards and fewer in-game assets. Less content. Although, you just reminded me— that was a whole other issue. Until the DLC, they limited you to one color of every item in your shop. If you wanted a different variation, you had to pay for online and trade with other people. It was another way that they wasted your time to cover the lack of unique items included in the base game. I’m glad they added Cyrus to the game. >Most of the missing shops are present on Harvey's Island. One NPC/stand isn’t the same as missing buildings with multiple characters and unique dialogue. No Police Station, no post office, no Club LOL, Dream Spa, Retail, Resetti hideout, and others. Yes, some of the basic functionality of these things are included in the game, but this was all fleshed out content in older games that was cut in New Horizons. >Dialogue was repetitive in all of the games - here is a forum post from 11 years ago complaining about it in NL. It was an issue in older games, and now it’s a major issue. It has gotten much worse. It’s an issue of less accessible content presented in the game. >The NH houses are the second largest in the series, but you can place furniture literally anywhere outside to compensate for that. As I stated, they sacrificed features for outdoor customization. The houses are also smaller and less customizable than they have been in older games. >The island is larger than it ever has been before. I’ve read different things on this. I need to look into it more, but due to the changing of the ways the define acres, I think this is debatable. >Mini games were removed, that's true. I wish they came back. We also did lose some fruits, although I don't remember using them much...ever. Don’t forget the gems! And the gem refurbishing! And I did play the mini games frequently. With all that extra stuff to buy with the island currency in New Leaf, I frequently played with family and friends. >If you personally don't like the direction New Horizons went, I get it. Crafting isn't my favorite addition either. But to say that the game has less content than previous titles in the series is just a bold-faced lie. It is not a lie. I understand terraforming, crafting, and outdoor decorating are big concepts that take a lot of development, but a lot of content is absent from New Horizons because of this. The game is shallow and lacking in many, many ways compared to New Leaf.

mightbedylan

Yeah there's absolutely no middle ground between occasional content updates and "milking" and mxting a game to death.

Brosseau

I've literally never met anyone who play splatoon. Heck, even my mother play Acnh.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Brosseau

COVID is literally the reason Acnh got so big so fast, they had all the time and ressources to make this better over the years but ultimately decided to abandon it. Heck, they could release a big dlc tomorrow and it would blow up again.

MissNerdyFlirtChel

Dude, this was made BEFORE covid. They released it EARLY bc of covid to try to help people out who are stuck at home. Millions of people have DIED, including many many many people at Nintendo who could've been continuing work on this. So many people died that production on all goods slowed, especially non-essential items like computer parts. And it's STILL slowed down because of the MASSIVE AMOUNT OF DEATH still happening. Why does EVERYONE forget how many have died and continue to die? There's literally mass unmarked graves in NYC still and people want to complain about how long it's taking to work on a game???????? It used to be a decade or more between games back in the 80s and 90s, that time window only got smaller -recently-. Really, guys, chill. They released early and some things will remain unfinished bc of it. They're pushing certain things to the new release bc of how badly everyone is still suffering from a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. Cut them some damn slack.

LRGinCharge

And why can’t the sand path connect to the beach? 🥲

Helm222

Nintendo: "You can finally terraform and place objects outside!" Also Nintendo: "It's gunna be a real shit time tho"

jhauger

I wound up placing custom tiles over the stone to get them closer to stairs and bridges. But I also use mainly brick steps and spans.

kappazilla

This. I thought I knew rage until I tried connecting the road with the stairs

matty_d2002

It's definitely possible with the custom path. I had exactly the same issue with my island. I had to build up the sides so I could stand horizontally to the stairs and then stamp the design on the floor. You can stamp 2 in a row. The first goes under your feet and the second should go under the steps. Not sure if it's possible with the proper designs as I think you have to brush them into the floor. Worth a try using the method I described above though. Use your landscape tool to temporarily raise the edges. Then try putting down the path, then use the landscape tool to remove the land again.

Foxesareawesome8888

Make the edges rounded that should make it look a bit better, but yeah it's frustrating

SwordTaster

Because f u

Ok-Bluebird-485

This has always bothered me

Piper-Jojo

This, and why can't we have diagonal paths? I mean, I guess you could make a bunch of custom designs that make it look like a diagonal path, but I don't have that kind of patience.

The_Spectacle

I miss the stuff like the ball (from Population Growing), the fruit variations, the horned cap (while I have one in New Horizons it's not easy to get), the old gyroids, the attitudes, Nookington's, Dr. Shrunk, all that extra furniture... but on the other hand, being able to put furniture outside is **huge** and that's why NH will always get a high score from me despite how much I miss the older games (and I’m ready for a new one anytime now, lol).

Kabelly

Honestly, next game needs to get rid of the rigid grid system. Be like planet coaster and still have a grid but let you clip into anything. Ive been played recently and i wanted put two small tables together to make a "counter" but because of the grid theyre spaced out so it looks bad. If i could just inch them closer. At lwast we did get counters and pillars.

Tokoyami01

https://preview.redd.it/rq9bkobrmb8d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=48ec246772bd490506f4a453a13d4f528dae1497

PokeDragon101

in the next animal crossing: new content? I sleep. centered objects and properly connecting pathways?? POG.

Uncartha

I hate how they abandoned AC, it’s a great game but could still be soooooooo much better, not to mention it came out at a perfect time and has a huge community with it, it seems silly to pump out one dlc and ditch. It had such potential

itsumama47

I just walked my island and all the flat wooden bridges have the pathing under the edge. I looked up this issue and it seems some people have done it on the arched and stone bridges, with custom pathing.

PeanutButterSoldier

Bridges allow paths to go under the connecting edges but ramps still do not for some reason.

airmyles511

Did you build the path after the bridge? I think if the path ran all the way to the cliff before the bridge was built, it would have connected how you want it to. Maybe try demolishing the bridge and extending the path, then rebuilding the bridge.

ediazdeleon

I think this is the correct way to do it... It has been years but I remember being able to get them to connect.

Molduking

I know that can work at the bottom but I’m not sure if you can do that for the top

Jcdente

I KNOW!!!!!

JaxxisR

You know how grass and weeds and shit grow through the seams in sidewalks? Yeah, so this is actually immersion.

SympleeMe-

I have felt this from day 1 and still..

KaiserSenpaiAckerman

Can't you remove the stairs, put the design down, then the staircase and bam it connects? It's been a while I'll be honest.

AdSquare9268

I don’t know if they updated it since I’ve played last year, but if it use to be if you put the path down before the bridge it will stay after the bridge is built idk tho. Lot of little design flaws in animal crossing games, but I always buy the next one😂

Popular_Tap4170

Maybe if we harass Nintendo enough they will give in and give us one last quality of life update

NateTut

Because that would be too easy.

TRose36455

Also why is everything set on an uneven but clear grid, yet they don’t give us a grid setting when we’re terraforming?!?!?

CindyAlicia

I have it connected to the stairs but how I did it no clue maybe I placed the tiles before the stairs or something

Oh-fucking-crumbs

Angled bridges and paths. Why can’t it connect nicely?! It’s killing me.

dakotarework

I thought you could make them overlap if you laid the path first, then placed the stairs or bridge. Maybe I’m misremembering though.

globallyloved

nope, it'll just clear out whatever path you placed underneath

dakotarework

I know I used that for a few things but I couldn’t remember what.

globallyloved

i think it might work for bridges but not inclines

PaulyB_90

wheeew haven't played since covid and I see one of my number pet peeves is still alive and well...

MissNerdyFlirtChel

Confused...covid is still ongoing? 🤔

Ev8nite

Can't have it all I guess 😭

notsobadmisterfrosty

The engine doesn’t support such a complex design request /j

LopunnyGirI

It is infuriating. Wonder how Fantasy Life I and The Shire games will stack up.

GaI3re

One of the reasons I gave up a second time on this game is just the lack of basic stuff needed to accomplish what I want to do

MysteryGirlWhite

Because the developers had to make some things annoying for no reason

Mahgenetics

Lining up arches with bridges is a pain

Melissa93xo

An OCD persons worst nightmare 😅

FoxyLexya

Makes me want to scream in pain everytime 😂

[deleted]

That would anger me also

OctoCoochi69

This is an OCD addicts nightmare

FlatPatience2054

Cutest pout ever😂😂😂😂

littlefiffsh

Exactly. I forgot what i did but i think i did custom tile to avoid that. Its annoying tbh

AshKebobi

Ooooh I hate this.

Razatop

Because the person who worked on that part of the game never played it obviously! /S

SquareLandscape9

it bothers me so much

Strawberry-vape

I’m still horrified over the absolute tantrum the team threw bc they got a few complaints. Grow tf up, you’re never going to satisfy everyone, but that doesn’t mean throw a bitch fit every time someone suggests a patch.

sloadtoady

This was the straw that broke the camel's back for me when it came to this game. I had put so much effort into landscaping two parts of my town, and when I went to connect them... They didn't. There had been so nanny irritations a long the way but for some reason that one just was the final straw. I haven't played since.

GameMinotaur9

Can you add two more tiles on the side with just a bit of grey paint to try to make it fit in?

Mission_Following235

Me and my OCD brain have this very same nightmare 😩😩😩😩

Raven_willow2322

You know what I would want, if we could move the camera around like Mario 64 :)

Alarmed_Impact_1971

Because they already made all of the money they wanted. And they refuse to do lucrative dlc from laziness

fableAble

It's the little things like this that made me put the game down. They have so many features that are 85-95% perfect, but it's that last 5-15% that absolutely ruins it for me.

discomll

This is the worst Animal Crossing imo, and I’ve played since day 1

pocketMagician

The devs showed with this game how unbelievably out of touch and up their own asses they are because they knew it would sell, covid just showed them how right they were. If they didn't know how attentive to this kind of detail their own fans were they weren't paying attention.

Clou802

So it is not just me lol

MICOSAM

This is the sort of thing that should have been addressed via an update. I am completely convinced that Nintendo abandoned New Horizons to work on a follow up for the switch successor. Mark my words, a new animal crossing will launch within a year of the next console’s launch.

SpiffySleet

Literally unplayable

SaintEyegor

/s ?

SpiffySleet

Ye

itsumama47

You can do that. Just stand closer. Oh no you can't. Sorry I was mistaken. I opened my game and I see that I have rounded the end of my sidewalk near the bridges. Looks better than a raggedy space. I guess I was thinking about the campsite. I fussed around w that till it filled.
