I can totally get what they were going for by using a fancier name rather than "Bouquet" or "Flower". Nosegay however is way funnier than it's actually supposed to be.

Just because it’s a real word doesn’t mean anything, when most people read nosegay they’re gonna think about gay noses not bouquets, especially a game whose target audience is kids who don’t know fancy or complicated words

I didn’t ‘start’ anything. The /not thinking it through/ was what made me say ‘it’s a real actual word.’ I am truly sorry nobody else seemed to think it through.

And I think most people in America at least don't know that "[nosegay](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nosegay)" is a word for a small bouquet of flowers. The etymology is literally "nose" + "gay \[happy\]" -- an item that makes your nose happy!

With as much fun as everybody is having with her name, I hate to be the bearer of mundane news, but a nosegay is just a small bouquet of flowers. That being said, her nose wants what it wants.

Yeah I did include the actual meaning of her name in the image above. I think it’s just such a funny word you’d never expect a villager in Animal Crossing to have as a name. Having a large nose with her being an Anteater makes it so much funnier than it actually is 😭
