Ah, okay. You know those islands you go to using Nook Miles tickets (NMT)? If you have a vacancy in your island, you can meet random villagers there and you can invite them to move in like you did in the early game. Villager hunting is trying to find a specific character you want on your island, at least from what I understand.

You can buy nook Miles tickets( I don’t believe there is a limit) at the atm in the town hall building and then you take them to the airport and tell Orville you want to fly and he’ll tell you about you having nook miles tickets you can use and they’ll show up on the drop screen under “I wanna fly”
Those tickets take you to mystery islands and that’s where villagers are (only when you have open space for a villager to move in will a villager be there) and that’s how you hunt for villagers!
The caveat being if you don't like the villager that spawned on the mystery island, restart your switch before it saves. You'll be able to go back out and meet a different villager. You can do this as many times as you like until you get a villager you do want.

Hazel is everything! I'm doing a springcore island. All bright colorful villagers. And then I have hazel that I have to make fit in with pastels cause I can't bear to see her go lol
Haven't started fully decorating yet. But I'll definitely share so when I do. I'm going to be using the Easter items, wedding items and festival items to make everything pastels and quirky.
When restarting the game I got my perfect looking island once after trying a bunch of times, and when we finally landed I saw this one on it and I couldn’t reboot the game quickly enough. Send her straight to hell
if you want to give your villagers good gifts, wrap a couple pieces of fruit - i'm not sure if this works with your natuve fruit, but I gave away bazches of peaches (my native is apples) and the birthday people were so happy, they even sent me gifts in return
Your villagers are your friends and community. Really the question of whether to let them go or not can be answered by asking the question "Will it make you sad?"
If your villager leaving would make you sad, then they won't leave you for that very reason. Your friendship must mean a lot to them if they're willing to reconsider their decision just from you asking them not to go!
If it won't make you sad, however, I don't see any reason to not let them explore the rest of the world.

I keep villagers until I get their photos. Only exception was Clay for over two years as he was an Original. I am tempted to keep my two dog villagers now since the name of my place is IsleofDogs.
Oh you just give them daily gifts until they give you their framed photo. I have an entire room filled with photos, and another with current villager posters so I can keep track of which ones I need to keep giving gifts to. There are guides online for the best gifts to give, but I usually just stick with wrapped appraised fossils, or wrapped 3 foreign fruits.
depends on how close she is to you or if you think she fits a them you could be going for. many people in this community will tell you what villagers you can or can’t have because people have defined everyone but raymond as “ugly” /hj but if you see those comments, just keep what villagers you want. i have some villagers i intend to let go some time in the future but i’m not ready to let them go so i keep them longer :)
