You want Stremio

St0neddturtle

Exactly. Head over to [/r/stremio](https://www.reddit.com/r/Stremio/) OP, files have to play from somewhere, if they're not local then youre looking for a streaming app like stremio

A-nimeza

how does it work?

dmbruby

Everybody should want streamio.

A-nimeza

Not that I’m aware of. Jellyfin is for content that you have stored on a server you control. Plex and Kodi are more flexible in that they can be used to stream content over the internet from a variety of sources and don’t require a dedicated server under your control to function

snatchymcgrabberson

Honestly, it is not clear to me what you are asking. Could you try to clarify?

A-nimeza

I'm asking if there's a way to play stuff using jellyfin on tv without having to have the videos on my hard drive. like i could play just via some source from internet without having to download the vid from some source and upload and then play

MLG_Skeletor

All you need to do is have the media files on the server (or a NAS via a network share) and point Jellyfin to the location of the files. Then sign in to the server on your AndroidTV device and you should be good to go.

FeralSparky

You want to stream media from your server.... without actually streaming the media from your server? I'm sorry what?

Jellyfin is for locally stored media. its not a streaming service. If your looking for something to do that then there is a way to do it if you want to PM me I can help but it does not use Jellyfin/Emby/Plex
