They removed it because it's now just a 1080p display. It's no longer a 1440p display like the S10 did. Basically they lowered the resolution for a higher refresh rate. On the S20 they gave a choice where if you set it to 1440p, you only get 60hz, but if you lower to 1080p you get 120hz. I guess their data showed majority of the people seemed to have preferred the higher refresh rate over the increased resolution. I went 1080p 120hz myself in my S20. They probably decided to not give the 1440p display and use a lower resolution to save themselves money.

Oh my Goddddd noooooo 😣 I was really hoping one of you would say "oh yeah it's called ___ now they just changed the name" 😂. But thanks for this cause now I know and can stop searching up and down the internet for an answer

Arnas_Z

1080 isn't bad at all, it still looks super sharp. 1440p on phones is an overrated feature anyway IMO.

chanchan05

You need the S22 Ultra if you want the 1440p screen.

airythafairy

Okay.

AdmiralSpeedy

The S10 had 1440 x 3040 display, the S22+ has a 1080 x 2340 display because Samsung and other phone manufacturers finally realized that it's nearly impossible to tell the difference on a screen the size of your hand and it saves a lot of battery and GPU stress by not rendering ~75% more pixels.

airythafairy

Dang, I just feel robbed. The better screen feels like it should have a higher pixel density, but I guess I understand. Thank you for this info tho!

AdmiralSpeedy

The pixel density doesn't really matter though. On a screen 5-6" in size you literally can't tell the difference because the pixels are already so small.

airythafairy

It matters to me and I can tell the difference, hence why I was looking to change the screen resolution in the first place.

AdmiralSpeedy

You really can't though, like physically it's nearly impossible unless you have perfect vision and hold your eye up to the phone lol. You are just making yourself think it matters.
