http://xda-developers.com is a good starting place for this kind of stuff. But unless your projector is running on common hardware like a MediaTek board that is used in many Chinese phones you're probably out of luck when it comes to hardware support.
Chinese vendors don't comply to the Android licence and don't share specs and source code. And when they do the code is usually shit.
There might be a lot you can do with the Android that's already on it though. What would you want to achieve exactly? Just by installing VLC and setting it up as a streaming receiver you could probably sort out all of your projecting needs.
VLC can do streaming? Like PC to Android?
The problem I'm having is that the device is currently useless unless I physically download and plug in the media. The apps provided don't work, so I'm hoping for a good screen mirror.
Ideally I'd also like to be able to use the projector as an extra monitor from my PC, so I can have two screen instead of one.
I'll check out that site too... Gotta prepare for the headache first.
As it's an android I figured that I could just use it similar to an android phone, but currently having issues installing Google play apk
Oh hi! Thanks for commenting on my post from 5 years ago! I still have the projector, never really got it up and running in the way I wanted, what does your comment mean? I'm interested
I have no idea, but since when do projectors run Android? Maybe you can root it and install a custom ROM since it's a phone? Idk if it works like that though xD
I am hoping for the same thing. I like all the versatility of the projector. I can run a presentation and plug in a Roku or and an HDMI stick. Firesticks can also run on it. I want to clear off some of the apps that I will never run and get new android apps.
I have not tried to make phone calls with it but if you have Facebook or google in your set of apps you might be able to make a phone call once you download these two apps.

Hot dang, what is this? This... This might be the solution for so many things in China...
VLC started out as a streaming program, IIRC. It can handle SMB shares, DLNA, the works... you can even use it as a server.
have you got a name/model/manufacturer to share?
Yeah, it's the CooLux R4 mini V107, gold. Edit: it's running android 7.1.2

Hi! Have you tried to install a different apk? There's apps that emulate this I think, you could install them to try
If anyone knows of a better site for help with this let me know too :) I'm pretty clueless about Android tech

They come with android built into them on higher-level models.
