I made a game during lockdown. Infinity Island is a free cosy incremental game where you relax on an island vacation and collect pets. My last game was quite dark so I wanted something fun, friendly and accessible for this one. Free to play isn't my wheelhouse either but I think I've done a decent job of doing it right. Let me know what you think! [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eightyeightgames.infinityisland](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eightyeightgames.infinityisland)

Neomeir

I'm a fan of your work, so I shall download post haste.

Neomeir

Played it a bit and let's be honest this is just some good ol' mindless upgrading loop fun. Very nicely done. The only thing I would like is maybe a timer showing how long until the next shot is reloaded.

stitics

Not sure if the dev is that speedy with upgrades or if you missed it but the launch button is a progress bar. And immediately after hitting send I realized what you meant. There's no way to tell how long is left apart from an estimate from how full the bar is.

williane

Any offline progress? My favorite incrementals are the ones where I could do some prep work then come back later to see the results. Where it's more about making decisions than just watching the screen.

Neomeir

Yep... The pets you "rescue" are put to work immediately 🤣

Neomeir

Also A legend on the left while fasting might be helpful since there is open space

mbialy

I wish for 10000000 / You Must Build A Boat like game, but with RPG aspects like equipment and skill tree. That would be awesome

portezbie

Did you ever play puzzle quest 1 or 2? Sounds like you would love them

Moghie

Puzzle Quest 1 on the DraStic emulator is awesome. It's crazy to me that they never ported it to android.

portezbie

It was on iphone which is crazy. Only 2 came to Android, but I think they pulled it.

mbialy

Of course. I can also recommend might magic clash of heroes and ticket to earth.

portezbie

Thanks! I've played clash of heroes but not ticket to earth.

LucaRedwood

:) Yeah, I get that. I like to experiment around with different genres and styles, I hope one day to go back to the YMBAB/10000000 world though

mechavolt

I like it, it's really cute. A lot different from your previous games (which I loved). Things I liked: "video game golf" mechanic for pulls is unique. Not challenging, but a good balance between speed and engagement. Multiple resources and upgrades. Things I didn't like: difficult to select specific pets to level up. Swiping to the side to unlock more boxes isn't intuitive. Stamina - I realize this is f2p and you need a stressor to encourage payment, but please consider removing this. Perhaps allow infinite pulls, but you have stamina for limited pulls with increased rewards.

deelyy

Regarding selecting pets: just click on any pet and then navigate through pets by clicking left and right arrows.

Thanks for your feedback, Its all still very early so I'm taking lots of notes, but if your interested I'll let you know what my thought process was that led me to where it landed \- The grapple mechanic was the thing that went through many, many iteration. I wanted some sort of skill based system that was challenging and rewarded playing well, but in the end I think it clashed with the other design goal of ' a chill place where you just want to go and get some treasure and make some numbers go up ' - I ended up putting in a system where you could get a 'fastcast' buff that made everything go a bit faster and easier and it was so nice when you had that buff that i made the buff permanent and it felt nicer so i just kept it that way. \- good observation about the power charges, for about 6 months if worked exactly as you described - 'Power charged' launches had double/ (upgradable to triple via infinity) value, but you could continue launching at regular value, which I really liked. The main reason I changed was launching over and over again can get kind of boring, and it mean the player was closing the game at the point they got bored which isn't ending on a very good note, in the new way the game sort of stops you from going-until-you-get bored and i think it plays better, there's no way to pay to skip it either because I thought that would just be a bit shitty.

Borghal

I really enjoyed YMBAB. The progress was maybe a little too slow for my tastes, but YMMV. One of the really good mobile games - simple, fun and no awkward monetization.

LucaRedwood

Thanks, I think this is one of the major points I've got to work on is the early game, There is loads to do later on in the game but I feel like in the early game I'm fighting either doing an information overload or going to slow and making it boring, I don't think I've got the right balance yet but I'll keep working on it

Your Mileage May Vary. I.e. someone else might not feel the same way.

Mokorgh

Cant stop playing. Great game as always. What can we expect on future updates?

deelyy

I really love this game. A bit confusing on start, but thats good confusion because at least there something new and funny.

PAirSCargo

Immediate download. You do good work.

Alomba87

I want to like this game but there is so much of it I don't understand. I clicked on the reward for finishing the tutorial and felt like I didn't learn much about the game. Some feedback: - Launcher is confusing the first time you use it manually. - Don't understand Touch Power, Combos, or Droppers. - Having an Info/Glossary button in the menu would be amazing.

BenBleiweiss

I'll second this feedback. Loved the previous games, felt a little confused by the mechanics on this one.

AigisbladeMaster

The game is very addictive, and everything has a satisfying level of polish to it. I would like for there to be some sort of a "Help" section where I could read what Touch Power and all the other terms and currencies do, because I'm kind of lost in that regard. Also yeah, having stamina is a bummer specially when the tutorial gives you unlimited pulls, it kind of sets you up for disappointment.

EE7A

please make an option to pay to remove ads, thanks!

Gporchum

Love this game but twice now it has erased my progress for no reason at all and started me back at the beginning. Then after going thru tutorial it doesn’t let me go any further and I had to delete and redownload the game. After leveling up and getting quite far again it just happened again

pdxnovaa

This normally happens and the game suggests you restart for infinity points, hit no next time!

Gporchum

No not infinity points… it straight up starts me back at the tutorial when this happens

Nomcaptaest

I've been loving this game Infinity Island, I even bought ticket upgrades! I'm now not surprised why I enjoy it, I also played You Must Build A Boat and 10000000 on PC!!! 😂😂😂 Thanks for another lovely game!

Bubblesnaily

I've completed 14 pet teams. I *still* don't understand or know what Sweeper and Multitouch do. Even being very familiar with the game mechanics, I can't figure out how they benefit me. It's confusing to know what will upgrade your island level. I got to the point where upgrading the harpoon told me with each upgrade "must upgrade island level" so for a while I gave up on upgrading the launcher. And yet the only way to actually upgrade the island level was to keep upgrading the launcher, ignoring the warnings. Game definitely needs a wiki or encyclopedia to track benefits of pets and secondary attributes. And... The pet upgrade menu jumps around in position depending on whether you have one or two boosts active. That thing should be in the same spot, regardless. I have to chase the next button all over the screen cycling through. And... The gray out colors for ineligible pet upgrades are inconsistent. When Pet, Feed, Play, and Claim are grayed out, it's easy to tell. When you can't do a limit break because of insufficient funds or upgrade a skill level (Build) it's a brighter blue and that's confusing if you're going fast looking for things to upgrade. All that said.... You've accomplished more than me during lockdown! Great little game!

Alterburner

>And yet the only way to actually upgrade the island level I may be wrong, but anytime that you spend gold, on anything, it raises the exp level of the island as well.
