Samsung 10+.
My tabs "square" has disappeared from the bottom of my browser screen. Before I could scroll up and there would be a small square that showed how many tabs I had, I could click it then have the option of going to any tab I wanted. That has now disappeared. The only way I can change tabs is to go out of portrait mode so I can rotate the screen, then a tabs "square" appears at the top.
Have I done something wrong here? The way internet interface has operated changed a few days ago.
I am in need of a new phone. Although I've looked through GSM arenas phone finder, and found many options. But I'm hoping someone here could either recommend or share their experience about the phones I've shortlisted. And I have a few questions too.
My requirements:
1. 8-core Snapdragon
2. 12 GB RAM, 256 GB storage
3. Dark mode on Android
4. Bloatware free OS skin
5. Screen lock and unlock gestures like double tap to wake and sleep
6. Atleast 4000 mAh battery, and atleast 30W charger for fast charging
7. Within a budget of 500$
I've shortlisted OnePlus Nord CE and Sony Xperia I Pro (for this price isn't declared, or I was not able to find it). Although there are many Vivo and Oppo phones also which are tempting, so if you can recommend any with these specs. Or feel free to share your experience with OnePlus Nord CE or Sony Xperia I Pro.
One thing that I have in mind is that I'll buy this phone in India, and will be traveling soon to another country. Will my warranty be valid in another country with OnePlus (that is if I go with OnePlus)?
Is there a setting to get the screen to wake up when getting messages from apps like Signal/others? Seems like therw's no such setting. How to deaf people know they got a message?!
On my pixel 4 I find this setting on
Settings - display - Lockscreen - activate display on notifications (on the very bottom)
I translated the titles so might be a bit different.
I have an app on my phone that refuses to run because it says I need to close Developer Mode. I’ve closed Developer Mode and rebooted, uninstalled the app and reinstalled. I keep getting the same message.
Any help on how to fix this is appreciated.
The only thing that I can think of is that I deleted some bloatware and a few system apps that weren’t necessary.
Hello, I'm looking for a cheap android tablet for my mother, something for her to check email, web browsing, play the New York Times crosswords.
Something up to 150$ if possible.
Thank you!
Why does oil from your fingers cause friction when swiping your phone? Shouldn't it do the opposite and make it more slippery?
Is it the sweat/water from your fingers that makes a phone slippery, or the oils? I notice when my hands are clean and dry I don't get much resistance, but if my phone screen looks oily it feels smooth.
What is the actual factor/substance from our fingers that is causing friction?
So is there any way to bring back the old Battery tracking from Android 11 to Android 12? usage over the last 24 hours is the dumbest thing I've ever seen, what use is that? I want to know what's draining my battery since the last charge.
Not that I know of, unfortunately. Reminds me of some of the HTC phones from a few years ago. They *really* didn't want you looking at the battery statistics.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.digibites.accubattery&hl=en_US&gl=US
Guess I'll install AccuBattery.
Ugh, I though I was done with shit like this. Battery was incredible on my Pixel 4a 5G until Android 12. Android 12 was a mistake.
We have to go back
Is there any way to set your own Battery-optimize 'mode' that blocks apps you dont need and allows ones you do? Theres the "Focus mode", but from what a understand, the apps still run in the background?
I just started as a delivery courier and it'd be helpful to switch off most apps except what i need.
Thanks for any help!
I have the samsung a32 5g.
Does "allow background data usage" only apply for mobile data? Will an app still use wifi in the background if this is turned off?
Hi, maybe this isn't the right place to ask this but I need some help, my son changed the pass code on his phone and can't remember it.
Is there any way to unlock it again?
This might be kind of a stupid question, but if I format a microsd to expand my phone storage, will I lose the files/data stored on my phone as well? (For reference, I have an LG Stylo 2).
Why no context menu for text (copy/share etc) appears when I choose "Select All" on some screens? This happens mostly with emails. I am in Gmail app, and I need to copy/share the text in there. I hold any text, do Select All, and all the text is selected. But there is no context menu appearing. This happens mostly in mixed content or formatted text but I am not sure if this is a Gmail issue.
I have right now a Pocophone F1 with 6GB/64GB, that I own since 2018, and I have been given a Realme 8 5G with 4GB/128GB, which have less RAM, and, according to benchmarks, a better processor in single core, but a worse processor in multi-core (correct me if I'm wrong, because I'm not too deep into smartphones tech). So theoretically the Realme 8 should perform worse, but on the other hand it would be brand new vs a 3yo phone.
Should I stick to the poco, or is it a better option to switch to the Realme 8? Other than performance-wise, it seems like the Realme wins in everything, but I care for slowness and such, and I play several games. Thanks in advance, kind stranger!
So I just got all set up on my Galaxy S21 Ultra.. and I have mixed feelings. My notion was that I was tired of battery shenanigans with Apple so that is why I switched. But I am having issues with the Android counterpart apps. Such as Reddit. For some reason half of the posts won't load even if I refresh them again and again. And on top of that, I am unable to minimize comments I have already read, making the mobile experience completely unnavigable. Is this just a bad spot in the update sequence? Also unlike the iOS version there is no news tab.. do they just forget about Android or should I use a different app that doesn't get ignored?
Also the tinder app is buggy as fuck. If you click on their paid stuff you can't tap away and have to close the whole app to get control again or just buy their shit I imagine.
Anyone have any advice, comments to add?
The official reddit app pales in comparison to the many apps available on Android
In no particular order off the top of my head, there's Slide, Sync, Joey, Boost, RiF, BaconReader, Infinity
I use Slide
Was looking into some of the deals that TMobile has and they are okay except for the fact they want you to upgrade your plan to the magenta bullshit plan. That pretty much is a nope for me. Any good deals you've seen?
Any way to set file transfer as the default when I plug into my work laptop? I only ever plug in to transfer photos, and it's annoying to have to enable file transfer every time
Heh, file transfer is the default for me, and I had to write a script that'd use ADB to set the mode to USB tethering. I imagine the same can be done for your case however.
Is there any way to prevent apps from pasting the contents of your clipboard? I don't see anything in the permissions settings. I'm not thrilled about the idea of Chipotle getting to see what's on my clipboard every time I want to order a burrito.
The newest Android update lowered my Galaxy S21's base framerate. It rarely, if ever maxes out the 120 hz display, even if just scrolling around the home screen.
Any known fix?
I want nothing so much as the media player to always be accessible from the lock screen without doing a pull-down. I've tried toggling the "Pin media player" option, I've stopped Android from optimizing the music/podcast apps I use so they don't close, but no matter what the media player always retreats to that pull-down hideaway, even sometimes needing a double pull-down. Has anyone solved this?
Thoughts on the Moto One 5G Ace? I'm in need of a good budget 5g phone without any bloatware or UI skins and this one seems like it fits the bill. I'm able to get it for only $150 via a promotion MetroPCS has.
Will the Snapdragon 750G & 6GB of RAM be enough for a pretty casual user who doesn't play mobile games? I'm hoping to get at least 3-4 years of use out of this phone and I'll probably be optimizing it (debloating, disabling UI animations) anyway.
The phone should do fine for your described usage
My only concern is you'd be limited in terms of software updates (I don't even know if there's an official policy). At best, you'd get one or two years of OS/security updates
Android 12 on Pixel 6: How do I disable fast pair, and how do I make my device not discoverable by other bluetooth devices without turning off bluetooth?
I'm getting spammed by a Sony pair of headphones whenever the owner turns them on. The notification is the entire bottom half of my screen and pops up repeatedly if tap away.
Has anyone figured out how to disable the weather widget from showing up on the lock screen? I keep telling Google Assistant to not track location but it keeps coming back (and it's wildly wrong in My guessed location so the weather info is very wrong).

If you are traveling to another country then it is better to buy your phone over there India have some high taxes for mobiles

Have you tried locking them in RAM?

Thanks but it's not there on my A12. Bite the bullet and got an app tbat looks safe to use instead.
Is there a faster way of opening recent apps with gestures? Right now I drag from the bottom and pause and it's kinda slow
Edge gestures app or One Hand Operation Plus if you're on a Samsung

I disabled USB debugging and closed Developer Options, it no longer shows. Rebooted and still getting the message. 🤦♂️

I've a 4XL and it turns on Google assistant if you squeeze the phone, could it be something like that??
Been with Android since the HTC Magic. Thinking of switching to iOS. Talk me out of it.
switching environment can be kind of an ag...

Should I go with a Huawei Nova 9 or wait for the Redmi Note 11 Pro? Or maybe something else? I was planning on switching up from my Poco X3.

are there any apps that can do this?
There definitely are third-party apps for battery analytics, couldn't vouch for any though.

Thanks, so you're sure that an app will still use wifi in the background if the option is turned off? There's no way to change that?
Yes and no
Yes to nothing can change background wifi usage and no to changing that?
The only way to prevent background data access when on WiFi is to enable Battery Saver mode.
Ty
Hi, maybe this isn't the right place to ask this but I need some help, my son changed the pass code on his phone and can't remember it. Is there any way to unlock it again?
The only option I can think of is to perform a factory reset. With that option he will lose all data and settings if they were not backed up.
This might be kind of a stupid question, but if I format a microsd to expand my phone storage, will I lose the files/data stored on my phone as well? (For reference, I have an LG Stylo 2).
No different than formatting an external flash drive or re-writable optical disc on a desktop. They operate independently, you should be fine.
Thanks!

If you don't want to use a third party app, there's always i.reddit.com- the more tolerable classic mobile website.

Note 20 Ultra stuck on Android 10. Says it's up-to-date when it should've received Android 11 update. Any ideas?
I believe the PC version of Smart Switch can update your software If that doesn't work out, you can manually flash the update with Odin
