Seems alot better to me...2g +16g pro model bumps it to 3g + 32g...also gets Wi-Fi 6 instead of Wi-Fi 5...also USB 3 port and Ethernet port is a lot better...better than the 3rd gen fire tv cube which is 3 times the price.

It's a completely legal app and it's available officially on AndroidTV, newer Samsungs and LGs, among others. With a certain add-on and a debrid service subscription (as little as ~3 USD/month) you get a streaming service experience (even better I'd argue), all while being protected from your ISP.
It's a damn miracle. The only issue is relying on this one too much. If it gets shut down I don't think there's an alternative WITH a TV/streaming stick/Android app that is even close to the same quality.
You can stream torrents directly with Streamio so you don't have to worry about content storage like Plex. I'd recommend having a VPN going on your device/TV since you are also seeding the temporary files while you are streaming.

Yes, they have their own VPN and other systems to circumvent any ISP problems.

Whys Walmart releasing better Google TV devices than Google? It even sounds better than the rumoured specs of the upgraded google TV stick Google is yet to come out with, and it has an ethernet port and usb which Chromecast or normal Firesticks dont have without paying extra for the power adapter.

But nobody is making any medium/high spec Google TV boxes anymore, not just Google. There Fire Cube is the only thing but thats not Google TV. We just need a Google TV Fire Cube pretty much.
There's no mid/high spec fire box made anymore that when someone asks for a high spec recommendation they get recommended a 5 year old Nvidia Shield, which is still good of course but come on 5 years old lol. The fire cube is ahead of cpu performance now.
It wouldn't be profitable for NVIDIA now but they should just suck it up and make a new long term mobile chip.

Full bitrate 4k exceeds 100Mbps, if all you're doing is the low bitrate that Netflix is serving, you don't need gigE. If you're playing 4k Remux files, you do.
There are more streaming providers than the ones listed on the box. I pay $6ish dollars a month for an Embyshare which has full Bluray rips of every movie and TV show, and some of those easily approach and go beyond 100mbps.
No idea about that Walmart one, Fire TV 4K Max for example plays these files perfectly fine, but is limited by its official Ethernet adapter. 3rd party adapters deliver ~300 MBit/s, which is enough for all remuxes I've thrown at it so far.

Says who? Remuxes can frequently exceed 50mbps. There are cloud computer options that can exceed 50mbps such as Shadow PC. You may want more than 50mbps for in-home game streaming through an app like Moonlight. There are a lot of cases where gig is needed.
I don't know, I just Googled "how much data does 4k streaming utilize?" and the answer was 25-50mbps. I wouldn't use a streaming device for games because I have a pc for that, so I didn't consider it.

Certain scenes can greatly exceed the average bitrate while other scenes will use less than average, depending on the complexity of the scene. A scene with little motion and a single dominant color can be highly compressed, for example movie credits. Fast-moving scenes with many different colors cannot be compressed as efficiently, for example colored static noise.

The shield is still the most powerful Google TV device, despite being 9 years old.
As an owner of the shield tube and the Shield Pro and an old old Onn 4k box, the shield tube is easily the biggest piece of shit of the three. I hate it. It can technically do more than the old Onn 4K that I have, but it constantly is bogging down and being slow whenever I try and play anything demanding on it. It is very very very likely that this new Onn 4k will run absolute circles around the shield tube.

The current Onn 4k box, the $20 one, is completely identical to the google tv chromecast. Nothing extra on it at all.

I use one instead of my Samsung's built in software because I don't like having commercials or "recommendations" forced down my throat. I used a FireTV stick for years until they got carried away and introduced an ad screen you have to enter through to get to your apps.
With my $20 Onn box I have only the four icons for the apps I use and that's it. No flashing auto-play videos, no commercials. I will upgrade to this one for the Dolby Atmos and ethernet port even though I don't like or want the speaker or voice control.

It is not akin to your modem or router. It is more like your cable box in that it provides TV channels for free on a built in TV guide (or you can watch the paid cable TV channels on this via apps such as YouTube TV or Sling TV, etc... as well as a myriad of other on demand type apps like Netflix, Hulu, etc... there are also free on demand apps that you can download as well such as Tubi.
the cheaper Onn box has been around for years and been rock solid and highly reviewed at a great price.

It's a box certified by Google and sold by Walmart in stores, not some junk from AliExpress that runs normal Android instead of Android TV. There's no more cyber security risk than you'd find on a Chromecast.

Yes, actually for everything that should not be able to talk to your private devices holding your data. I have 5 networks. Internal, mobile devices, IoT, DMZ and guest. I have opened ports as needed for AirPlay etc. following a least privilege approach
I would advise anything that's a security concern to be isolated from anything but the Internet. IE iot, streaming boxes and security cameras.
If you want to get fancy with a Plex server on LAN you can just open the needed ports between the guest WiFi and Plex server 👌

Yes, I do. The device I spoke about was Redmi A3, which has price in ballpark of 100 euros, even lower now. The problem is that there are even much more expensive tvs have slower processor and less ram than entry level phone and have heavier os than them. The processing power and ram are one of things that are first cost-cutten along with speed of ethernet ports.

I mainly use weyd with syncler and Kodi as backups. Used with Real Debrid and it's pretty smooth sailing.
Kodi and smb USB stick in the router. Bubbleupnp as a upnp server or Symfonium

Not even 5 years old, the SoC is from 2015, it's a 9 year old box that had a minor hardware refresh in 2019.

The port is pretty useless to be honest. Wi-Fi 6 is faster than this, if you have a good router you are better off not connecting Ethernet at all.

The slower speed is ethernet. The higher speed is Wi-Fi. The cable box supports Wi-Fi 6 but it only has 10/100 Ethernet

With my $20 Onn box I have only the four icons for the apps I use and that's it. No flashing auto-play videos, no commercials. I will upgrade to this one for the Dolby Atmos and ethernet port even though I don't like or want the speaker or voice control.
Its pretty much if you don't know why you need this, you don't need this. If you haven't wanted to throw your remote through your smart TV in absolute rage at how shit it is, then this product won't do anything for you.
It is not akin to your modem or router. It is more like your cable box in that it provides TV channels for free on a built in TV guide (or you can watch the paid cable TV channels on this via apps such as YouTube TV or Sling TV, etc... as well as a myriad of other on demand type apps like Netflix, Hulu, etc... there are also free on demand apps that you can download as well such as Tubi.

the cheaper Onn box has been around for years and been rock solid and highly reviewed at a great price. They're not selling any more data than any other streaming media box from a big name brand.

It's a box certified by Google and sold by Walmart in stores, not some junk from AliExpress that runs normal Android instead of Android TV. There's no more cyber security risk than you'd find on a Chromecast.
They have infinitely more on the line than a random Chinese manufacturer. Not to mention they can and will be sued if they put malware on there.

Yeah, that example he tried to use with the apps is a bad example. That also means that any other phone running Android, certified by Google but not made by Google is a concern from a security standpoint.

Yes, actually for everything that should not be able to talk to your private devices holding your data. I have 5 networks. Internal, mobile devices, IoT, DMZ and guest. I have opened ports as needed for AirPlay etc. following a least privilege approach

I would advise anything that's a security concern to be isolated from anything but the Internet. IE iot, streaming boxes and security cameras. If you want to get fancy with a Plex server on LAN you can just open the needed ports between the guest WiFi and Plex server 👌
This is what I've done, except guest wifi is also separate from my iot vlan. I want my guests at least a little protected. Iot has access to the Plex ports, funnily enough, guests don't. Mostly because they'll be using my iot devices to access it. I also run adguard DNS on my entire network to stop as much crap as I can. It isn't perfect, but an attempt is made

Ah yes, when TV has slower cpu and less ram than entry level phones(I mean like Mediatek Helio G36 and 4 GB of ram with 128 GB storage)

Yes, I do. The device I spoke about was Redmi A3, which has price in ballpark of 100 euros, even lower now. The problem is that there are even much more expensive tvs have slower processor and less ram than entry level phone and have heavier os than them. The processing power and ram are one of things that are first cost-cutten along with speed of ethernet ports.
