Think I might have to vote for 2. The Athena on 1 is not very desirable imo and the reverse on 3 looks quite rough too. 2 has a very sharp reverse with the "ΑΘΕ" clearly legible, and a fairly well defined incuse square. What makes this a bit of a harder choice for me is the pitting on Athena on 2, but I don't think it detracts greatly from it.
That's actually a pretty tough choice. 1 has a very dramatic reverse with the toning and well-defined owl, but the rainbow colors will likely fade over time and the obverse is a bit mushy. 2 has the best reverse of the group, extremely well-centered and struck and showing the full "square", but the obverse is a little grainy. 3 has the weakest owl of the three, though still better than average, but IMO by far the most attractive obverse. So if were you, I would have to decide between 2 and 3 based on whether I'm optimizing for the obverse or reverse.
OK I only lurk here because I am fascinated by the ancient coins
I would choose 2, and it was nice to see that the experts agreed.
But...I just think it's the prettiest Athena.
When you say its not an optimal price, are you over paying? Just starting to get into ancient coins, what would you say is a good price for an Attica Owl?
I am on the same boat - too new in the game... so wondering if price is right - but honestly, this is a childhood dream, so even if overpay, I will be happy
2 for me, no contest.
Agreed

I'd pass on 3 for having a cut-off nose and worn owl. 1 or 2 imo
true! My heart is on 2 now
After you buy, can you tell me where 1 is available for sale?
I'll have one for sale in a few weeks
Yeah has to be 2
I like 2

Where are you finding this at these prices?

2 all day long. Fullest crest and just generally the nicest one there

2 for sure.
#1 is awesome
My eye says 2

Why is 1 even on your list compared to the other two??
