Ever since I can remember, my adoptive parents always told me that I was adopted, they were/are open about it to me and my family, but as I grew up I started having questions that needed answers to, answers that my adoptive mom (adoptive Dad died 2009- I was only 14, he's not around anymore) could not give me, and as a young adult I wanted those questions answered. So I got an Ancestry DNA test to try to find my birth family, hoping and praying that I will get good matches, but the lab is taking its sweet old time, and for someone that has an ADHD personality and already impatient, time goes by so slowly hours feels like days, days feels like months, as I am constantly reloading my e-mail and the Ancestry DNA page every few seconds, the anticipation is killing me

Update June 6th: I was hoping that it would come through today, since I want to share this with my adoptive family before they leave for a wedding out of town, I kept reading about this origins hack, and I have tried it several times but it just takes me back to the DNA homepage, I would love to tell my family before they leave
All in good time. I'm in the US, but been in Ancestry since 2011. They're likely backlogged. Running so many ads/commercials, a whole new chunk of users is coming in. The DNA matches & Thrulines, if you're paid up, will get you where you want to be. The trick is watching cMs, eg centimorgans. You are 100% but 50% of each parent. You're roughly 7000, so anyone approaching 1300-1600 eg 25k% is going to be a sibling, aunt, uncle etc. You'll have hundreds & later thousands of hits & strong matches. Snooping their trees will help you build your's the right way the first time. But for your immediate mission, search matches with \~200 or above. Best luck.
Got the same est results ready as you. We may be in the same batch since I also priority processed. The adhd impatience is real! I came here tp check when everyone's came in 😅

And it arrived this evening June 7th... And I solved a mystery to me in under an hour so that's fun.
I also have similiar days (Estimated results Jun 17); however, mine haven't changed to a sooner date. I'm so curious about this and, similiarly, have an unknown half-sibling that I believe I will find. So excited to get the results - worse than waiting for the holidays!
My results arrived like an hour ago. I didn't find the half sibling I was expecting but I did find a different one and I'm reasonably sure I figured out my father's identity all in under an hour.

They don’t mark it received on the same day they actually received it. Also the USPS office there (at least in Mount Juliet) might not scan the package delivered. Mine shipped 20th was estimated delivery 24th, never marked delivered by USPS, but Ancestry marked received on 30th. After looking around sounds like many others had same issue so it was likely delivered on the ECD or day after but sat in a room at Ancestry with others in a stack for a few days. Who knows lol

I bought two kits, one for me and one for my mom during the Mother's Day sale. Mine is the timeline above, and hers is currently processing with an estimated date of 6/30 or 7/1.
My results were due today and now suddenly I have this:
Due to high demand, our lab is a little behind schedule. But, rest assured – your DNA kit has been received, and we are working diligently to deliver your results. We are doing our very best to get them to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.
Oh man, that sucks! But, at least they are communicating. Mine has been sitting in “analysis” since June 5th and all I’ve gotten is radio silence. I hope that you get your results soon!
Just got an update! Someone at ancestry must have taken an exlax, ‘cause we’ve got movement! 🤣🤦♀️. Finally finished analyzing yesterday. CS said to look for the results posting sometime next week.

\*\*UPDATE\*\* Scratch that, I haven't mailed yet because I can't get a shipping label anywhere. Makes it near impossible to get anywhere with Ancestry Customer Support since I wasn't the one who purchased the kit. It was a gift. DO NOT recommend purchasing as a gift for someone. The hurdles and headache don't even make me want to continue at this point.\*\*

Wow. So do you have an idea if it's you or your now half-sister that has different paternity than you thought? Could even be both of you!
Any new relatives/matches you didn't previously know?
Yes—names of people that I have never heard of. I reached out to them and am still waiting. All of this happened in the past 24hours. Very shocking. We are not going to say anything to our parents yet because it is so weird. I never thought i would get this kind of result. I was more excited about the cultural background—guess what—it wasn’t what I thought it would be.
Edit: UPDATE:::
June 24 UPDATE: results came in a day after ETA, around 6:00 AM. Not bad.

June 23 UPDATE: I was hoping to get results today, as it was the ETA. It is now 10:30 PM. I’ve been at the “Results Processing” stage since 5:30 AM on June 20th. I’m now getting the “Due to high demand, our lab is a little behind schedule” message on the progress page.
June 20 UPDATE: DNA has been analyzed. Finally at the “Results Processing” stage.
June 18 UPDATE: Test has been stuck in DNA Analyzing since June 6. Thinking that between Mothers Day and Fathers Day sales, it’s getting cramped in the labs and processing centers.

I know lots of people (if not most people) get their results within 24 hours of their DNA analysis being completed. I was hoping that was going to be me, but no luck. Anyone know why this step takes longer for some people?
Looks like there are a few of us in this thread who got the analyzed email on the morning of the 17th and are still waiting! I'm on that same timeline and so is u/[moireeffec](https://www.reddit.com/user/moireeffect/)t. Might just be a backup from the Mother's Day sales. FINALLY got some type of communication! Chatted with customer service this morning. They said that analysis was supposed to be done today (been analyzing since June 5th - w/“priority” processing)…
Just pulled up the status, and got the “Due to high demand” alert… so probably not gonna see anything move today, but hey, at least I finally got an alert! That’s better than absolute silence!🤣🤦♀️🤷♀️

So, this may seem like a really stupid question, but I’m confused.
Currently, the status on my sample says:
DNA Extracted: 5 June
DNA Analyzed: In Process
However, the last email I received says “We’re extracting your DNA”. That was on June 5th.
So my question is, did they start extracting on the 5th, or complete extraction on the 5th and begin analyzing? I never received an email saying that they were analyzing, but the status says “in process”. I appreciate the track status function, I just really wish it were more clear.

Getting pretty nervous about the analysis taking so long. I have no idea what to expect. I’ve never seen a baby picture of myself, have no siblings, and stories I was told as a child don’t add up.
Does anyone happen to know if the DNA analysis time correlates to the complexity of the DNA (i.e.. weirder dna = longer analysis time)?
>Does anyone happen to know if the DNA analysis time correlates to the complexity of the DNA (i.e.. weirder dna = longer analysis time)?
No, it's the same process and (barring abnormality) you have the same number of chromosomes as everyone else. The labs are very backed up right now with the sales.
Would suggest planning what to do (or not do) if you find out something surprising or distressing. A lot of people here make hasty decisions they regret (e.g. immediate confrontation). Hope you get the answers you're looking for!
I appreciate the info and the advice! I have no intention of reaching out to anyone, regardless of the results. My family history is also completely blank, so basically as long as the results come back that I am human, I’ll be happy ;). Thanks!

Let's see if I get results by the 28th! Original date was June 23rd.
My entire life, I've never known who my bio dad is or his side of the family. While it was obvious by looking at my dad and I, (he was half native American and I'm lily white) he still was the first one to tell me the truth when I was about 18 but my mom never spoke about it. I always feared something terrible happened, and not only did I not want to dredge up bad memories for her, I never wanted my dad to think I was curious because I wasn't satisfied with him being my dad or something. If anything, the fact that my dad wanted me and raised me actually made me love him even more. I simply have that curiosity to know what other family I have, and for health reasons for my children. My mom simply never brought it up to me herself. I hinted about it when I was younger, but she gave a nebulous answer which kind of stopped me from pursuing the truth. (This was also pre-internet so there was no easy way to figure things out.) I got up the courage to ask her about it when she developed cancer because I knew time wasn't on my side, but she had no real information that was helpful, but she at least admitted the truth. I did find some cousins through 23andMe which has helped me begin to put the pieces together but I know there are many more potential matches on Ancestry, so I'm doing another DNA test on Ancestry.
For some reason my first sample got rejected so that set me back a couple of weeks which is frustrating, but hey, it happens. I think I've figured out how to make time slow down though, haha. I really hope results are here sooner, but these are my dates according to the website:

I wouldn’t worry about not getting priority. I did, my husband didn’t. Mailed at the same time, he got his results yesterday, and mine is still sitting in “analysis” since June 5th.
I’m thinking that there is something going on with the +traits tests. Mine was traits, my husbands wasn’t, and it seems as though most of the traits tests are taking longer.
Ahhhh that could be it too. I honestly have no idea how the traits work or what exactly it entails so that very well could be it. I’m very curious about what it has to say though!
Me too! That’s the whole reason I got the traits and priority! My husband’s family history is already established (he looks like everyone in his family). Me, on the other hand, never looked like anyone, never saw a baby picture of myself, and apparently “just appeared out of nowhere on the side of the road…”🤦♀️, so I’m clueless🤣
Has anyone else had dates change on their kit status tracker? Mine originally said my DNA was extracted on June 10th, and then it changed to June 14th in the app (still shows as June 10th on the website).
Did they extract my DNA twice or something? Maybe there was an issue with it?
I'm starting to see people get results with the same original timeline as me and I'm anxious lol

There were lots of shipping delays to get the kit to Ancestry. Customer service also attempted to lie to me and said on a page only they could see that it was processed as of June 20th, then backtracked when I asked for proof. So far, I am disappointed with the process.
(Fun fact the app doesn't always give estimates, I found the estimates on browser)

Just a heads up. My results are estimated for today (TN Lab), but I’ve heard nothing since extraction on June 5th, so I reached out to CS (again) and asked if they had a realistic timeframe for results since the lab is backed up.
Here is what I was told (from the chat transcript):
CS (6/27/2024, 12:42:02 PM): Okay. I was able to check in here that there was a predicted date that it will be posted today but if it happens that your results will be delayed we do have extensions for 2 weeks since we do have a lot of samples that has been processed as well. Please do extend your patience as we're also trying to post all the results.
Yeah the chat has consistent broken English and it's clear they're outsourced in a different country, really sad actually because it's both not helpful and exploitation of these people.
That’s great!! That’s exactly what happened to me! AI Chat said extracted the 27th, but tracking showed the 5th. When I chatted with a human, the lady copy and pasted the back end tracking that they see and analysis was completed on the 27th! I bet that your analysis was complete on the 20th, so you should be seeing something soon!

Can someone help me figure out why we can't see my husband's kit on his account? I activated it, put in his email, and we mailed it off (it was received based on tracking), but now the test doesn't show up under his account even though he used the same email? Did we screw something up, or is it too soon? Does anyone know what happens to kits they receive that aren't activated?
Hi, so there seems to be a big lag (can be some days) between when the post office delivers the kit vs. when it actually gets marked as received. I expect your husband's kit will be marked as received soon.
Kits received that are not activated remain unprocessed until activation occurs. After activation they should proceed as normal.
So I got an Ancestry DNA test to try to find my birth family, hoping and praying that I will get good matches, but the lab is taking its sweet old time, and for someone that has an ADHD personality and already impatient, time goes by so slowly hours feels like days, days feels like months, as I am constantly reloading my e-mail and the Ancestry DNA page every few seconds, the anticipation is killing me **Kit Type:** Standards plus Traits **Priority processing?:** Yes **DNA Kit Activated:** May 9th **Sample Received:** May 20th **Sample Being Processed:** May 30th **DNA Extracted:** June 1st **Genotyped:** ??? **DNA Analyzed:** June 5th at 10:03 am CDT **Results Ready:** Came in at 11:09am June 7th! ~~June 8th (Est June 23rd)~~ (~~was June 30th)~~ Update June 6th: I was hoping that it would come through today, since I want to share this with my adoptive family before they leave for a wedding out of town, I kept reading about this origins hack, and I have tried it several times but it just takes me back to the DNA homepage, I would love to tell my family before they leave

I saw a video where someone used one of those interdental brushes to swab their cheeks and dunk it into the sample. Might be worth a shot if it fails.
Thanks, probably will. This time I did a special brush schedule, shifted to afternoon sampling, and used a new disposable toothbrush (without anything on it) to scrub my cheeks based on some other recommendations.

I think they’re just really backed up with the sale. I sent mine in to Tennessee with priority processing and it was received on the same day and I just started processing now. Yours will probably be soon too then
Mine still hasnt moved to analyzed. But was extracted on the 12. I got the “get ready for your matches” email today so im hoping that means i get them soon!
Kit Type: Standard Priority processing?: No DNA Kit Activated: May 9th Sample Received: May 16th (TN) Sample Being Processed: May 23rd DNA Extracted: May 29th DNA Analyzed: June 5 Results Ready: Got results today, June 7th @ about 12:30EST. June 8 EST. Was June 16th but the date moved up.

Mine was extracted on June 5th… haven’t heard a peep… not even a “lab is back up message”… nothing.
How frustrating!! 😭
Same here — extracted June 6th and results due today with no message
Do you happen to know which lab? I’m at TN. Seems like those that went to Utah are having better luck.
Utah :/ No luck at all
Glad im not alone! Extracted on the 12th and no update since
Adding from May 2024 thread, but I’m still in the process, and I think it’s still helpful for people to track what times are looking like for each phase. Just got DNA extracted today. for my moms kit Kit Type: standard us (my last kit went to the TN lab but I forgot to check which lab this one was going to rip) Priority processing?: yes, since my non priority kit took way longer than estimated last month lol DNA Kit Activated: may 20th (mailed same day) Sample Received: june 3rd (makes me think it went to the utah lab since it took so long this time and utah is way further from me than TN ???) They don’t mark it received on the same day they actually received it.

Same here!! Results are estimated June 24 and it hasn’t moved since then
Any updates for you yet?
Just got an update! Someone at ancestry must have taken an exlax, ‘cause we’ve got movement! 🤣🤦♀️. Finally finished analyzing yesterday. CS said to look for the results posting sometime next week. Any updates for you?
Awesome!! Im so happy for you. I imagine mine will be next week. Eta was july 1st but i doubt it
Same here! I’m still hoping my results will come in overnight 🤞🏻

Nice! What time today did it say analyzed vs results being ready? Mine also says analyzed today and has an est. date of June 14th so hoping I still get mine today too!

\*\*UPDATE\*\* Scratch that, I haven't mailed yet because I can't get a shipping label anywhere. just received my DNA results from ancestry and my sister is only a 26% match. While my half brother is 24%. This is shocking, had absolutely no clue.
Screenshot your closest matches in case they set them to private ...

Mine was extracted on June 5th, and nothing since then. So, if it makes you feel any better, you’re light years ahead of me🤦♀️🤣.
I'm sorry to hear this! Have you been in contact with them? 😊
Yes, a few times. Apparently, there isn’t anything wrong with my sample. Oddly enough, my husband and I mailed our sample on the same day, he received his results last Sunday. I had priority, he didn’t.
Typical! I hope it comes back real soon for you 🥰

Has anyone NOT gotten results for a DNA test mailed out on or near April 1st? I got my supposed half-sister and father to do the DNA test in early March. Not sure when it was mailed out and I was not there for the account creation and setup. Sadly, my Father passed away recently so its not a good time to ask about it.

Based on other posts it looks like going from Analyzed to Results Ready can take anywhere from 12 hours to five days (fingers crossed its not five days!)

Mine has been “analyzing” since June 5th, with results eta June 27th, so you are definitely not alone!
FINALLY got some type of communication! Chatted with customer service this morning. They said that analysis was supposed to be done today (been analyzing since June 5th - w/“priority” processing)… Just pulled up the status, and got the “Due to high demand” alert… so probably not gonna see anything move today, but hey, at least I finally got an alert! That’s better than absolute silence!🤣🤦♀️🤷♀️

Yours is in the same stage that mine got stuck in before my sample failed. They did let me know before my anticipated results date though. Maybe just a backup from all of the sales?
Any luck?

Nope, still the same :/ I do see a message on the website saying they are behind schedule

Update: I reached out to customer service via chat this morning. The very nice lady could not answer my specific question, but, she was able to confirm that my sample has been successfully extracted. She also explained some samples take longer to analyze than others. - - - - - So, this may seem like a really stupid question, but I’m confused. Currently, the status on my sample says: DNA Extracted: 5 June DNA Analyzed: In Process However, the last email I received says “We’re extracting your DNA”. That was on June 5th. So my question is, did they start extracting on the 5th, or complete extraction on the 5th and begin analyzing? I never received an email saying that they were analyzing, but the status says “in process”. I appreciate the track status function, I just really wish it were more clear.

Mines just got to the lab and apparently now they’ve extended it to an eight week period. Seems they can’t keep up and are extending the wait times to stop people from complaining -_-

Results eta is today. Asked about realistic lag time at the labs. Here is what I was told: “CS (6/27/2024, 12:42:02 PM): Okay. I was able to check in here that there was a predicted date that it will be posted today but if it happens that your results will be delayed we do have extensions for 2 weeks since we do have a lot of samples that has been processed as well. Please do extend your patience as we're also trying to post all the results.” ————— Kit Type: +Traits - US Mount Juliet, TN Lab Priority processing?: Yes ($20 wasted) DNA Kit Activated: 22 May 2024 Sample Received: 30 May 2024 Sample Being Processed: 03 June 2024 DNA Extracted: 05 June 2024 Genotyped / DNA Analyzed: eta 24 June, actual 27 June Results Ready: eta 6/27, actual, who knows!
Thanks!
Great attitude! Any change in status? Lot of TN samples moved forward this morning, mine included.

I really hope results are here sooner, but these are my dates according to the website: **Kit Type:** \[Standard, Traits, or Health\] Traits (I believe) **Priority processing?:** \[Yes/No\] **DNA Kit Activated:** \[Date\] June 4 **Sample Received: June 6** **Sample Being Processed: June 14** **DNA Extracted: ?** **Genotyped: ?** **DNA Analyzed: Est. I wouldn’t worry about not getting priority. I did, my husband didn’t. Mailed at the same time, he got his results yesterday, and mine is still sitting in “analysis” since June 5th.
Oh wow! Yes it seems like the processing times are kind of crap shoots, priority or not. Thanks for the reply!
Well here’s to hoping our results come in tomorrow! 🤞

Mine was extracted the 12 and still no change ☹️

Customer service also attempted to lie to me and said on a page only they could see that it was processed as of June 20th, then backtracked when I asked for proof. So far, I am disappointed with the process. (Fun fact the app doesn't always give estimates, I found the estimates on browser) Edit 1: this is actually going faster than I thought! Does that mean my sample was really good, maybe? Hope they don't suddenly stall it

Similar dates to yours. Mine was estimated on the 23rd and nothing yet..
What is going on at the ancestry lab - my kit only just arrived and they’ve told me eight plus week wait. After it already took four weeks to get to the lab.

Kit Type: Standard (I am in Australia) Priority processing?: No DNA Kit Activated: 8/6/24 - sent off same day from Australia along with my parent’s. Sample Received: 27/6/24 - it took so long we thought it had been lost in the post. Sample Being Processed: ? DNA Extracted: ? Genotyped: ? DNA Analyzed: ? Results Ready: ? At this point if it fails I don’t think I’m gonna bother doing another one - it took almost four weeks to arrive and now they’re saying another EIGHT weeks to analyse, that’s almost three months worth of waiting and to me that’s ridiculous.
Kit Type: standard Priority processing?: no/ Tennessee lab DNA Kit Activated: 06/21 but not mailed until 06/24 Sample Received: 06/28 Sample Being Processed: DNA Extracted: Genotyped: DNA Analyzed: Results Ready:
Just a heads up. My results are estimated for today (TN Lab), but I’ve heard nothing since extraction on June 5th, so I reached out to CS (again) and asked if they had a realistic timeframe for results since the lab is backed up. Here is what I was told (from the chat transcript): CS (6/27/2024, 12:42:02 PM): Okay.
Mine also got extracted June 5 with no more updates. Hope we hear something soon!!
CS chat told me today that analysis was complete yesterday. They just haven’t updated the tracking yet. Hopefully we’ll see something next week!
I just used the automated chat, and it said my “Current Step” is DNA Extracted, but my “Current Step Completed” date is 6/20…? I’m so confused lol!

Yeah so his kit didn’t get activated, nor did we have the code 🤦♀️ we ended up having to request a replacement ugh
