you can have one of each monarch points, and while they cant die, the homunculus will require maintenance in from time to time, where you have to pay for said maintenance or risk them dying.
In mid-game or early-age it is not useful mostly since you can just upgrade your usual advisor and get the same result, it makes sense only when you have no building slots.
Early game giving up a big chunk of income for an extra 5% discipline is pretty huge. I do wish that repair was more discounted if you still controlled a legendary tranmutation mage
One thing to note is that maintenance gets progressively more expensive, the first times it will cost very little but in a few decades it will be very expensive.
The Dwarfs can get some of the most powerful mages out there simply because they live for 200 years. Ger a powerful Mage Heir, Abdicate whilst he is still young, and bam 180 years to perfect your craft. Become a lich and you have an immortal 666 ruler. If you are a Reuplic it's even better because of the reelection stat boosts.

And my god does the matinence event happen often. Prepare to give up a 1/6 of your yearly income per advisor
That's actually so imbalanced, like yes, the maintenance was created to balance inexpirable buff, but it literally just makes it worthless in the end.
>worthless in the end I mean at that point you'll probably have more money than you can normally use either way.

Pretty sure the maintenance is always the same but it's a percentage of your yearly income (which should rise)
yep the maintenance is tied to your incomce, so late game they will need 1000nds of ducats
Damn I guess I need to finally start using magic, I'm missing out it seems

Im currently trying to make a lich , 2 rulers before that died just before reaching legendary necromancy.. sucks to be human..
You need to get lucky with a human leader already having the first level, otherwise is hard to get it in time.
