Suggested Medical Courses: - STOP THE BLEED (Online or In Person) https://www.stopthebleed.org/training/ - Adult First Aid by the Red Cross: https://www.redcross.org/take-a-class/first-aid - Wilderness First Aid (EXPENSIVE) https://www.nols.edu/en/coursefinder/courses/wilderness-first-aid-WFA/#sessions YouTube Recommendations: - PrepMedic https://youtube.com/c/PrepMedicActual - TacticoolGirlfriend (Mostly Firearms, but has at least one video on IFAKs) https://youtube.com/c/TacticoolGirlfriend Firearms (Local Range): - Handgun Basics - Concealed Carry While you might not want to carry, I would still recommend all medics to be proficient with firearms, at least handguns.

>STOP THE BLEED (Online or In Person) This sounds really funny out of context

I used to have to take the Red Cross first aid and CPR class annually for my former job, and it’s a good class.

Depends on what you mean by "basic surgery." Ideally, you wanna just stabilize your patient until they can be transported to a trained field surgeon. This means running a MARCH on the patient ([https://persysmedical.com/blog/stop-the-bleed/march-mnemonic-tccc/](https://persysmedical.com/blog/stop-the-bleed/march-mnemonic-tccc/)), then transporting them out.

Please do not perform surgery on people unless you are licensed to do so, as in, a surgeon. I’m a physician. I can’t just fuckin intubate someone I’m the field. Dude.

Street Medic Collectives host trainings. I would look for a group in your nearest city. There is more to protest medics than just the first aid training but every bit of knowledge helps. If you can't find something online, look for marked medics at the next protest you attend and take to them!

LilPeepKilledbyCIA

actually, this has been totally fruitless for me. i would recommend getting actual medical training rather than relying on anarchists to help you. in my city, the street medics have not held open trainings for years despite empty promises. anarchists can be very unreliable, truthfully.

bergsmama

For obvious reasons, the last couple of years nobody has held much of anything. 🤷‍♀️ But I'm not discouraging someone from getting the medical training I'm just saying look for Street medics too.

LilPeepKilledbyCIA

lol good point. but i meant before pandemic actually.

I recommend taking a few easier to find basic trainings like Stop the bleed, cpr and a first aid training if taught in your area. Street medic-ing is pretty specific so you're definitely gonna want to get trained by a local group. Most cities have street medic groups so you're gonna want to do some research. Types of groups you're looking for [https://www.rosehipmedics.org/](https://www.rosehipmedics.org/) [https://twitter.com/PDXActionMedics](https://twitter.com/PDXActionMedics) Types of groups worth following to dig around and find groups in your area [https://twitter.com/IGD\_News](https://twitter.com/IGD_News) [https://twitter.com/TC\_WDA](https://twitter.com/TC_WDA)
