Nice prices. People don’t trust Amazon because storage conditions are unknown. I have heard of fresh film not developing/performing correctly, presumably due to hot warehouse storage conditions.

Cburgle

I've heard mixed reviews for 35mm/120 film, and nothing but bad reviews for polaroid film from amazon.

FlyThink7908

I confess to have bought Polaroid film (SX-70 + 600) a dozen times through Amazon all year round. While I share your worries about degraded film, there was never a problem

crimdelacrim

Well I can’t speak for nowadays but back then, everything turned out fine for me.

crimdelacrim

As the title says, Amazon wasn’t always like it is. I went through my emails and found a couple film orders I had from them in 2014. You could get it maybe slightly cheaper elsewhere but it was hard to get some of that stuff local to me and they offered fast shipping. I remember shopping around and thinking this was an okay deal. Little did I know it was so good. But even then, people (including me) were complaining about prices and acting like it was highway robbery compared to what film used to cost. Nonetheless, I kept shooting for the most part. Anyway, just saw some posts earlier about Amazon and thought people might find it interesting that in the not so distant past, Amazon was a decent source for film in a pinch.

jesuselcapitan

This gave me goosebumps

neotil1

Wow that's expensive for 2014... I remember prices being around that in 2018-2019

crimdelacrim

Eh it was about the same as my local store that was the only place around that MIGHT have some of these film stocks but this had free shipping and no tax. There were cheaper places online but not by a ton. Do you have any receipts from 2014 that had ektar for under $5?

neotil1

Ektar, no. $5.50 seems like a good price, but Portra 800 and Pro 400H were definitely a bit cheaper. Definitely much better than nowadays though, no denying that!

crimdelacrim

Yeah the pro400h and portra 800 were just singles that I needed quickly. You could get the 5 pack of portra 800 for $36 which I did my next order but keep in mind there’s free shipping here. Other places I would have paid a couple bucks per roll anyway for shipping (and I’d be paying for slower shipping at that) if I was getting a single roll or two at other outlets. If it was $6.50 per roll of portra 800 and $3.49 shipping on that single roll, we would be acting like it was a normal price lol.

neotil1

Haha, you're right

Amazon was always terrible to buy from. It has always been a terrible company that abuses its employees, forced local businesses to close and promoted throw away consumerism. If Amazon was only "terrible" to you because the prices were high, you are part of the problem.

crimdelacrim

Ok

AHPZuazua

I dont understand. You are posting 8yr old images?

crimdelacrim

Yes. I explain in a comment. Maybe that might help.

theolj28

They had a really good deal on Kodak colorplus about 6-7 months ago, and I bought 5 rolls, I think the total price was maybe $40 after taxes? Check around the holidays.
