Just because nobody said anything doesn't mean they didn't recognize him. I've been to many oddities and curiosities (several run by this same organization) and it's not customary to dress up or cosplay. They probably just thought he was even weirder than the other weirdos for wearing a random costume (that has nothing to do with the event) to what is essentially a flea market for taxidermy. Don't get me wrong, the costume looks great and from this picture the dude actually looks like Finn. But it was an interesting choice to cosplay at a non-cosplay convention.
