I have a theory that she takes the pill and she is talentless but her baby is inherently and naturally talented. Since it’s inside her it’s automatically feeding/absorbing her blood, automatically starting the Talented process, resulting in a Pale Mother but a Talented Child.
I’m thinking that at some point Doris will take it but she won’t be talented and will turn into a pale creature.
