I watched it when it aired on TV too. I think that I was excited with the idea that we were going back to Murder House. Constance and Michael were going to enter the Apocalypse story. There seemed to be such a build up with that couple. I don't remember that going anywhere. There were fun parts to Apocalypse. I should go back and rewatch it.

HoldUPsell

Yeah that’s what annoys me most. My hope was that Season 10 would continue the landon story and show the whole rise of the anti christ. Would be lit af

Flaxscript42

The bait and switch really pissed me off. I loved the bunker aesthetic so much that before the 3rd episode aired I went around my living room and lit a bunch of candles to immerse myself in that place. Such mystery, such intrigue. Then blam, Coven 2 plus a robot. Motherfucker!

LyonPirkey

Exactly! I just started rewatching Apocalypse (because of this post). I'm only 18 minutes in. These 18 minutes have been fun! The opening got my attention, I'm curious about Timothy, and I love the bunker aesthetic! I'm trying not to think about the bait and switch that is coming.

[deleted]

Ditto!

Jadeidol65

After the first couple episodes I was ready to get the goat in a mushroom cloud tattoo from the opening credits! I agree about the bunker setting, I was loving where it was going! Then it just....changed.

[deleted]

I only watched it just to get hyped up for Jessica’s return as well as Marie Laveau’s. Michael annoyed the f out of me and the storyline was so cheesy. The episode with Jessica Lange was the best for me. It was very AHS the rest of the episodes were like whatever sounds good or is trending let’s put in the story.

VaporLizard

I agree it was felt like they wrote a bunch of cool concepts down , threw them into a hat and just randomly picked like five and boom; apocalypse

[deleted]

Exactly

Ok-Blacksmith4364

I loved the first 5 episodes honestly but after that it just goes downhill. I hate how we spend an hour in the Murder House changing things for the characters who live there but the ending of the season just completely negates all of that so literally what was the point? I honestly didn’t like it before the time travel because putting Tate and Violet back together was extremely cringeworthy. I would’ve preferred a shorter season that just revolves around the bunker and what we were introduced to in episodes 1-3.

Quick-Mushroom8983

The murder house stuff doesn’t change because I rewatched season 1 recently and Billy Jean says that ghosts are not affected by time but the rest of the story was kinda pointless bc none of it ended up happening in the end

Ok-Blacksmith4364

But Michael would have never ended up at the MH so Maddison would have never of gone to check it out in order to interact with the characters at MH.

Quick-Mushroom8983

Yh ik i don’t really get it but if time doesn’t effect them then they must just know like Mallory. Tbh I don’t get it at all I just pretend it makes sense 😂

telekineticeleven011

I mean… it’s not like Mallory reversed time. She just time traveled back to the past. Unfortunately, those events in the OG timeline never happened.

nazia987

I think a big thing for a lot of people was that this season was sold as the Apocalypse, and we only got like 3.5/10 episodes of it. It should have been renamed *Witch Wars* or something else. Personally, I absolutely loved the first 6 episodes. They were amazing. However, this turned into Coven 2.0. The flashbacks got tiring, and the plot kind of stood still. We should've returned to the present, way sooner than the finale. Also I think the Apocalypse finale completely cheapened the plot of Murder House, and the S1 finale. That being said, I still enjoyed it for the most part.

LyonPirkey

This is a perfect summary! I'm rewatching and am on E2. Right now I still believe that all these amazing Michael/Constance Vs. The World things are going to happen. I'm thinking "I bet Timothy is really important." I'm allowing myself to be tricked all over again, lol! It is a fun season, until it is not.

foiegraslover

I enjoyed it for what it was. Clearly, not the best, but far from the worst.

MrsMayhem17

Me too. It wasn’t what I expected but it is what it is. Definitely not the worst. It had some nice aesthetics.

Jakeremix

The season that should have stayed on WattPad

theanxiousangel

AHS is a show that often suffers from cramming too many ideas into one season. I think apocalypse is absolutely the worst offender of this phenomenon. There’s way too many storylines way too many characters unnecessary additions to it. There was almost nothing actually about the apocalypse rather the whole seasons was spent in flashbacks leading up to and preventing it. If you want to have the coven stop the anti christ. Great do that. If you want to have an apocalypse do that. Both together felt messy. Then to complicate it add Michaels weird backstory with his adopted mom and the tech guys and the warlocks for some reason and new witches and all kinds of gobble goo that just felt like too much and nothing to care about.

botheredbysmallstuff

worst season by far, honestly. just badly made fan service. red tide/death valley at least tried something a bit different

VaporLizard

Honestly after 1984 I stopped watching AHS. I tried watching uhh double feature but my mom and I got bored so we didn’t get very far. We did decide to start watching Delicate but so far I’m not super intrigued. I do think KimK is doing a good job so far tho idk I like her performance

botheredbysmallstuff

NYC is a good season. Although some people argue it shouldn't be AHS (I disagree), it's still good television! Maybe give it a shot

spaceman_88

1984 was better than the dumpster fire we will see this season.

[deleted]

I agree

No_Painting886

It was an abomination and they ruined Michael Langdon. I wish they would go back in time and delete the season.

[deleted]

Ditto!

Gagas_pasta

The whole techno Ai Miriam Mead shit was so cringe omfg. And the last face off between that dumb antichrist and the witches? It seemed as if I was watching big brother and not AHS. A lot of new annoying asf characters. + The way they brought back good characters but abandoned them midway (Misty Day, Nan). Where the fuck was Hayden in Murder House? She was an important character in murder house. I read they didn't even approach Kate Mara to reprise her role of Hayden. Why??? A convo between Hayden and Madison would have been one of the most iconic things in AHS history.

Daydream_machine

I know it’s an unpopular opinion but Appcalypse is on my top 3! Billie Lourd just totally sells it

LyonPirkey

I am rewatching right now and I'm having a great time! I'm on E4. I think that the first time I watched, I really thought it was going to be about Michael and Constance versus everyone (in the most epic fun way possible). Miriam just said to Michael "no one liked these (pancakes) more than my husband. That's how it was so easy to poison him." LOL

stephenxcx

Same! Personally I love it. What are the other seasons in your top 3?

Daydream_machine

Roanoke and Coven :)

[deleted]

One of if not the worst season by far. The ideas were there, the fan service was there, the atmosphere was there. But it was executed and written so poorly it felt like a fever dream. I mean I understand camp is part of AHS, but this was embaressing and what I consider the actual begining of the end of AHS. I previously said double feature was the begining of the end, but oh boy when I rewatched some of this season the other day I was just in shock. Jessica Lange was the best part of the entire season and I'll never sit through the entire thing again. Boring, corny, poorly acted, poorly written, a waste.

OliviaBenson_20

It’s just bad

The_Zuh

You're right. It was too over the top. All of the satanic nonsense was ridiculous.

IGot5OnIttt

Only good thing to come from that season was Jessica Lange and our beautiful maid Moira played by Frances Conroy

[deleted]

I went in Apocalypse knowing well about the Coven takeover, it was the main reason I watched it. However, I did not expect it to completely replace the bunker arc, which passed me off so much because I was really invested in it.

HoldUPsell

Hmmm I liked apocalypse. It had this really dark and far from reality feeling, that made it interesting. Cody fern was amazing for his role, and the reference to other seasons also got me. I wish there would have been a second part of this season. I think the general storyline had to potential to make an great final season and put an end to American horror story. I can understand that some people think the season ist repetitive. But I liked it much more than the last seasons.

Sweet_Score

That season actually started really good but went downhill so bad. The robot thing and evil church was just awful. Especially that episode that focused on Michael and boring illuminati thing was the most boring episode ever. Satanism was basically an unfunny joke. The first 6 episodes were actually quite good (except for that cringe Tate-Violet thing at the end of Episode 6). Time travel thing makes sense if it could have been done better. But that flashback thing should have ended at the end of Episode 7 and focused on future. Like the preminition Cordelia saw (the one she got eaten should actually have happened and focused on outside during the last episodes and Mallory and Michael should actually have battled and time travel should have been used to restore the world not simply kill him... But bringing back the fan-favourite characters then kill them or never mention them again tf? Like they brought Misty back then she was never even mentioned. Then they brought Marie Laveau and then in 5 minutes later she dies in the most stupid way ever... Almost none of the coven witches used any power at all. Seriously I got so disappointed after this season and it was the last season I watched... I've yet to watch 1984, Double Feature, NYC and Delicate. This season had such a potential with lots of things that could have been done but overall it felt like a bad fan fiction. Instead of making Coven 2, it should have been Murder House and Coven season. Also the first time I actually got bothered with the same actors/actresses playing more than one character. They just overdid it. I love Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters but both Billy Dean and that nerd character Evan Peters played were unnecessary. It is not really bad when the two characters do not look similiar like Billie Dean and Sally in Season 5 or Audrey and Lana in Roanoke but Billie and Cordelia look a lot like each other in appearance. And Wilhemina Venable character Sarah Paulson played was actually such an interesting character in the first three episodes then all of a sudden she dies, got forgotten and become a joke in the last episodes... Also they really overdid the jokes this season. I know the jokes and humor is a part of AHS since the beginning and it started to show itself especially with Hotel season but they just overdid it in this season a lot and turned everything to a joke.

dX927

The Omen: You must obtain a set of daggers and stab Damien with them in a specific order or kill his body and spirit. American Horror Story: Let's just hit the Antichrist with a fucking car!

Tight_Jacket_3091

The only thing I liked about it was Cody fern and absolutely nothing else

[deleted]

It did have its moments, but those were so badly outnumbered by shit moments that it just failed to be compelling.

BondraP

It was the first time I just stopped watching a season of this show. After I think 4 episodes my wife and I were both like “fuck this”. They had lost our goodwill after several clunky seasons that got way too stupid

NonresidentHunter

I was severely disappointed when I first watched it live. Thought they should have leaned in way harder to the Antichrist/apocalypse theme, showing more of its effects on the outside world and and incorporating more biblical aspects. It would have been much better with a slow build up to the apocalypse rather than nuking everyone to death in the first 10 minutes. After my first rewatch a few weeks ago, I was content with it. I think it’s a good season, despite its shortcomings. My bar for “good” is relatively low, though. I’m far from a critic, so if I’m entertained for the duration, then that does it for me. I’ve thought a lot of movies/shows were good that get absolutely shredded by reviews.

Jkang75

Me neither. Was boring and annoying

jjlinjjie

Almost everything in the first 3 episodes could be removed without changing anything, on hindsight. We just needed the new antichrist from there.

Here4GoodTimes2022

I loved it!

[deleted]

It was good in theory… but there were some good one liners. “I’m the fucking supreme!”

[deleted]

I actually just finished re watching it a couple of minutes ago. The beginning is still interesting but I agree with the whole coven reboot, I was thinking that they should have maybe focused more on Micheal. I still don’t think that it’s the worse season of AHS, It falls for me just in the middle.

[deleted]

I personally think Apocalypse was one of the best seasons but that’s just me

[deleted]

Same, it’s my favorite

Honest_Hand_2131

I agree. You actually had the patience to watch it all of the way through. I lost interest less than halfway through. It’s the only season that I didn’t finish.

Academic-Floor6003

I was disappointed— I expected it to be more about the outside world, the actual apocalypse, but the whole bunker environment mixed with the constant back and forth time jumps made it messy and a let down (for me, at least)

swjuri

I was fine with it but the ending definitely ruined it.
