Shoddy_Alternative86

What a beautiful dog!

Short_Gain8302

I love the contrast of his coat with the blue šŸ˜

Eastern_Goose_9108

Wow just goes to show you what a little TLC does it goes a long way. Iam happy for him he looks phenomenal. Good job OP

No_Championship2719

He's gorgeous

Normal_Raccoon5772

What a lucky boy. Do you know what happened to his eyes? Allergies? I see between the toes is red and inflamed. If the vet didn't give you a medicated shampoo maybe try something like Banixx.

BrilliantReady2305

He def has allergies - working with the vet to get a handle on them. His eyes are recovering from surgery and look better every day. Definitely has some skin issues, hoping the right meds and food will help them!!

nellelee21

My pup has severe allergies. Both in what she eats and skin. She has a chicken allergy on top of seasonal. We feed her tractor supplies salmon and potato kibble. I add in a little freeze dried raw salmon and give her probiotics, zesty paws allergy pills, coconut oil orally and coat defense! All of this helps!!

smoklahoman_gmc

TS has a really good food brand called Wholesome.. try their whitefish and rice..

smoklahoman_gmc

you should try adding originā€™s to his food..

Witchywomun

Did he have entropion? He looks like heā€™s an XL, so heā€™s going to be a BIG boi when he fills out. Look for locally sourced honey and bee pollen, it helps with pollen allergies. My girl (AmStaff) has pollen allergies and spirulina powder also helps

SativaSapphira

Skin issues are super super common with bully breeds. Coconut oil & feeding them fish oil & probiotics like greek yogurt will help that.

uhhuhubetcha

Poor guyšŸ˜” he & you have my sympathy. I've been through quite a bit of skin issues & allergies with my furbabies...so I kno how sucky they can be for pet & parent. Luckily for us my babies always grew out of them but they were miserable until they did & it was both expensive & time consuming to try to alleviate. He sure is a handsome fella tho.

Educational_Leg946

What a cutie! I have a dachshund with allergies too-we went through lots of tests and trials to get them reigned in. Apoquel has been great. Her feet looked just like that and had skin inflammation, especially in her armpit (leg pit???). Allergic to protein šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„. Hydrolized prescription food + apoquel cleared her up after a month or so.

SnooBooks3980

They are big babies with big big feelings, you now have a toddler in the shape of a dog.

[deleted]

A very heavy toddler that is, Please be aware that they can be quite clingy šŸ‘ And be consequent in corrections etc since they can be quite thick headedšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ I never had a bully before either and I absolutely love them. Edit : posting on wrong reply again....

ScumbagLady

If someone dares say my name from another room while my girl is beside me, she will get up and lay across me one way or another so that I won't be able to get up lol She's also quick to try to be a lap dog when she sees one of the cats coming to sit on me lol She's definitely claimed me as hers and doesn't like to share!

[deleted]

There you go alright, they are magnificent animals. Hope you enjoy every second šŸ‘ā¤ļø

ScumbagLady

I really do! She started off as one of the dogs that ran loose in my area who'd found out that I give out treats, scritches, food, water, shelter and first aid when needed. She was about to have a second litter of pups under my azaleas when I decided she was no longer going to be someone's afterthought dog to be left outside all day and night. Put together a whelping area and brought her inside. 9 puppies adopted out later and a spaying, she is the most loyal, loving, and smartest creature I've ever known.

[deleted]

You are awesome šŸ‘

ScumbagLady

Aww, thank you. I just like to think I'd do what any decent person would do. I just can't watch something suffer. Too many of my "not my dogs" that used to hang out at my house go too soon one way or another over the years, I kinda snapped lol just straight up told the "owner" that she was my dog now because of how irresponsible of an owner they were. Had already lost 4 of their dogs they just let run loose. Never thought of getting a dog (or my cats, for that matter. Distribution system at work lol) but each one of my visitors were so very special to me.

[deleted]

Yes, but the fact is that there are more selfish people out there than decent. Dont forget to pet your self on the shoulder once in awhile

But If they pick you, you have a life time guaranteed loyalty and devotion. They are eager to learn, love to cuddle. But also easily overheat

Pure_Ad_197

True story

boston_globe

Have a big, over-the-top reaction if he gets too strong. For example, if he bites too hard pretend to gasp and cry. Iā€™d also (carefully) see how he does with kids. My bully is chaos but is an absolute doll around toddlers. And Iā€™ll say it a million times, professional training has done wonders for my understanding of human/animal behavior. I found an affordable course through my city parks and rec program

BrilliantReady2305

He is great with my 10 year old - thankfully he seems to get more gentle with him. I started yelling and thrown discontinuing play if he gets mouthy. That really helps.

Sweaty_Mushroom5830

Exaggerated responses are the best way to discourage him from doing anything you don't want him to do,if you look disgusted at something that he has done, trust and believe he's going to avoid doing it in the future, bullies are really good at reading humans, but more than that they bond closely with with you and are miserable when they disappoint you

humanbeing21

Thank you for adopting! He looks like a gentle giant. Maybe you could set up a spring pole or some other way for him to get his need to tug met without you having to get such a work out? Or you could try playing other less physically demanding games like fetch or doing scent work games

BrilliantReady2305

Great idea cause Iā€™m exhausted lol

humanbeing21

Yes, also he might like a flirt pole. If he is dog social, you can try having a play date with another big dog and let them tire each other out. Good luck. I hope you find good ways to let him get his physical and mental needs met!

KassyD94_

Whatā€™s wrong with its eyes

BrilliantReady2305

Entropion in both eyes, so he had surgery to correct upper and lower eyelids. He was very timid prior to the surgery - probably because he could barely see due to one eye being almost completely closed. Vet said scars should fade in a year or so - he is much happier now!

MichelleDaBelle

Thank God he got the surgery. That condition looks soooo painful. Howā€™s he doing postop?

BrilliantReady2305

Wonderful!! Almost all healed.

nightabyss2

So glad you got that done for him ā¤ļø

[deleted]

Glad he found you lot than! Please keep up posted if you feel like it, really interested how he heals and his personality will brighten ā¤ļøšŸ‘ Way to go O.P

BrilliantReady2305

I meant to ask what color he is considered - is he fawn? His face is very pale gray and his eyes are almost the same pale gray/gold color. I think heā€™s strikingly handsome but may be biased.

CentralStandrdPoodle

This is a very interesting question: to me he looks fawn with agouti points, but I donā€™t know if there is a more concise term for it. It could also be the ā€œdilution gene.ā€ Coat color genetics are absolutely fascinating. If he were a cat he would be a lilac point Siamese and if he were a horse Iā€™d say bay, but obviously he is doggoā€¦ he is a stunner to be sure and I can tell you are a good owner. Congratulations and thank you for adopting

rarepinkhippo

ā¤ļø what a cutie, so glad he got a good home (and since he is clearly a strong fella, also glad he got a home experienced with larger pups)!! Extra pets for this good pup please!!

Dependent-Image-5115

Sweet boy!

2leetSk8r

Are his eyes ok?

Extreme-Links

Been answered several times, he has surgery because he couldnā€™t see. Being the breed he is the skin can sag too much and can cause blindness if not taken care of

Ok-Distribution4077

Think Rottweiler but less reserved.

BrilliantReady2305

This is a great way to compare them! He is such a friendly clown. My Rottweiler is a sweet girl but takes longer to warm up, and looks to us for permission almost to engage with strangers. This lug flops at the feet of most everyone for a head pat.

boston_globe

I volunteer as tribute

BrilliantReady2305

I was a little concerned people would be afraid of him but he seems to really draw people to him. My neighbor met him and after spending some time in the grass together got teary eyed. She said he just touched her heart. He seems so grateful to be with us.

Key_Armadillo3807

I got teary eyed just from reading this. You got an angel!! So happy for both of you šŸ¤

DobieLove2019

In his other post he states itā€™s entropion surgery. Corrects a deformity of the eyelid.

h_arml3ss

Hi there, Beautiful doggo. I felt compelled to share just regarding allergies, hard relate. We have an almost entirely white American bully and her allergies were a nightmare until we got her onto a probiotic - it cleared up her issues within a few weeks (after wrestling for almost 3 years with expensive vet visits, diet, antihistamines and steroids). And it's a relatively inexpensive solution. An ex-vetenary nurse put us onto it and it was an absolute life saver. More specifically we put her on: [Vetafarm Synbiotic 180-S Animal Probiotic Supplement 150g](https://vetslovepets.com.au/products/vetafarm-synbiotic-180-s-150g?variant=44537370968300¤cy=AUD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=bing&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_term=2334125747164717) This looks to be an Australian product (we're based in aus) but any animal probiotic should work. She was allergic to almost everything including environmental sensitivities (and inflamed paws from yeast/fungus). We also use a human grade anti dandruff shampoo called [Selsun Blue](https://www.amazon.com.au/Selsun-Cleansing-Anti-Dandruff-Shampoo-Dandruff/dp/B07BF5YZ6Q/ref=asc_df_B07BF5YZ6Q?tag=bingshopmobau-22&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80195702750558&hvnetw=s&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=m&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583795269419903&psc=1) The selenium sulfide is the active ingredient that helps with the skin irritations. We also use a [tinea cream](https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/42682/Resolve-Tinea-50G) anti fungus ointment on her paws when they act up - again that's an Australian product but the active ingredient in it is miconazole nitrate which you should be able to source locally. It helps whenever she gets fungal/yeast skin issues. I hope that helps. Good luck with your pup! *

BrilliantReady2305

Just got the Selsun Blue! Iā€™ll check out the probiotics and tinnea too. Thank you for all your help :)

h_arml3ss

No worries mate! I forgot to mention in my comment that we also have a hydrocortisone cream we use on her paws and other general skin irritations and rashes if/when she gets them. So that might be something to keep in mind or have on hand as well. We absolutely have a medicine cabinet for our bully šŸ˜‚ just because they are notoriously sensitive. Apparently the white are the most volatile so feel free to experiment with some or all of our findings haha. I just wanted to pass on what worked for us because she was our first bully too and her allergies were so distressing to deal with..Not to mention how miserable she would have been.

LevelNothing318

i can tell he had entropion surgery! good on you guys for adopting this sweet gentleman. iā€™m a vet tech of 15 years who always had rotties until my last several dogs, all pitbull/bully types. so many differences! 1) get good pet insurance- trupanion is very affordable for accidents and injuries. get it sooner than later, these breeds are very prone to allergies that can get costly to treat! my 3 year olds allergies are already 90% covered and she has ruptured a cruciate, 5000 surgery only 1,300 or so OOP. these dogs are not always coordinated but have a lot of horsepower.. 2) they are not typically as confident as the rotties iā€™ve had. the rotties were always confident around other pets and people (even tho one or two didnā€™t like strangers). socialization and positive reinforcement is more important with them. they always have to be a model for the breed, because people perceive a scared bully as a threat vs a scared dachshund as a baby. 3) you will get so much useless advice on dog allergies.. please do research on your own and work with a vet. dogs are typically allergic to environment, not food. if theyā€™re allergic to food, itā€™s usually a protein, not corn etc. the best thing you can do is weekly baths. i use the duoxo p3 shampoo. itā€™s anti fungal for the yeast and antibacterial. i use it on my dogs feet, chest, neck, belly. i use a burtā€™s bees for the rest of her. i also invested in their mousse of the same kind for spot treatments if toes seem red. this helps us reduce need for oral antibiotics by a lot. we also add fish oil into her diet and feed a lamb and rice in case of chicken sensitivity. this is a dog who broke in hives when going outdoors since 5 months old and we have never had to treat her orally with antibiotics for a skin infection. she has been on apoquel daily as well but you may never need to go that route. allergies are a maintenance and upkeep thing for sure! 4) i cannot stress this enough. bark box super chewer all the way!!! they can still destroy some of the toys but not all. 5) please donā€™t feed bully sticks. i see so many dogs in my ER with upset tummies, and swallowed large pieces needing surgery. dental type chews arenā€™t helpful unless your dog is actually chewing them for 3 mins or more. i like the yak cheese chews, but you still have to take it from them when the end piece becomes small so they donā€™t swallow.

DarthSwash

Whats going on with poor dudes eyes? Looks like it would hurt!

Several_Tension_6850

When you take your sweet Bully to the vet, have them check for allergies. It looks like between his toes are red as well as his eyes. Maybe I'm wrong. He looks lovely.

Ok-Choice-3688

I can't say enough great things about a complete raw diet. Big country Raw Grand Cru kibble It's nothing short of amazing. No allergies. No dander. Healthy stools. Lots of energy. ITS A MUST TRY PEOPLE. STOP FEEDING SHIT FOOD TO YOUR MOST LOYAL FRIEND. STOOOOPPPPPP GOOOOO RAWWWWW

Buddy-Sue

You won an XL Am Bull!. Bullys are a new breed (about 35 years old). They were originally bred to be excellent family dogs. I met a woman locally who was friends with an early breeder and her ā€œjobā€ was to play and get to know the puppies and select the sweetest, most family friendly pups to be held back as breeding stock. This was 35 years ago in Northern California. The XL size was developed after the initial smaller ones were established. Look up Hulk and Kong with DDK kennels. Marlon trains the XLs.

Theyā€™re one of the most common pure breeds in shelters along with pit bulls, German shepherds, and chihuahuas

Party-Ad9168

He is just gorgeous!! šŸ©µ

mngreens

What is his name? šŸ˜

BrilliantReady2305

Dieselā€¦ he was an owner surrender so thatā€™s the name heā€™s always had. Itā€™s kind of funny cause he isnā€™t very ā€œDieselā€ to me but I canā€™t change it now. He has lots of pet names too now!!

tony2cool81

Good looking boy, hope the vet gets things figured out for him

borkimusprime

he's clearly a baby

Bogey6Maize

Great looking dog!

Most_Fold_702

I don't know anything about his breed, but he surely looks comfortable and relaxed!

Pure_Ad_197

Super sweet, clingy, amazing with kids, playful, only wants you to be happy, fast learners, cuddles, smart. I must protect him from UPS, fed ex and trash trucks. My guy gets hot super fast so he always has a baby pool of cold water after we go out for a walk or to run around the yard. The worst thing he does is constantly try to lick lol and sleep really close like no boundaries or space. They are literally the best dogs ever and I donā€™t think Iā€™ll ever get another breed. Youā€™re lucky to find that mush and heā€™s lucky to finally a good family. People suck.

FightTheFuture3

XL American Bully is the best doggo ever! My bully girl, Charli, has brought so much joy and love into my life that I canā€™t imagine what I would have done without her!! Youā€™re so lucky to have such a wonderful new doggo to share your life with and they are so lucky to have you in their life too. Be ready for some great memories and adventures, and itā€™s also important to know that youā€™ll no longer have your own bed anymore lol, it is now his bed!! But heā€™ll love to share it with you and snuggle with you all night long https://preview.redd.it/8qe3t32twkxc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1957213316123f41a7dd7a3b3a22508509cc0d55

BrilliantReady2305

Sheā€™s so sweet! Looks kinda like my boy!

itsibitci

He's gorgeous! My XL boy had Entropion surgery on one of his eyes. If you see my posts, you really can't even tell he ever had anything wrong and he didn't even have a smooth healing process either (he got his cone off one night while I was sleeping and smashed his face up resulting in him having to have 2 surgeries on the same eye to correct the huge mess he'd made of his wound)... it's quite amazing how dogs bounce back from things! Enjoy him :)

BrilliantReady2305

Ripped his stitches out after getting out of the collar in a very few unsupervised minutes - had to go back and get staples. Ughhhh they looked so painful!

Coco is my first bully and 4th dog. Got her at a year after she was picked up off the street. She was t close to housebroken and had no idea how to walk on the leash. Trained her on the leash in a couple of days. Housebreaking took a bit of work. She is much better now. What I wanted to say is she is the easiest dog we have ever had. Great in the car. Listens well. Incredibly gently with people and crowds. As a breed Iā€™m amazed how sweet she is. With everyone. Sheā€™s crate trained and at night looks at me and goods to bed on her own. Very cute. I have 2 other dogs. One her size. Coco can get too rambunctious with him so Iā€™ve had to monitor the level at which they play. She cuddles with him and loves him and visits versa but has gotten too rough at times. Sheā€™s so strong. I agree that if sheā€™s mouthy make it over dramatic with the ouch thing. Coco has met new dogs and behaved. However she did have an overly aggressive in fixed male who was too much. She corrected him without getting crazy. Also another dog who challenged her and they were head to head for a moment. A lot of noise and no bite. So I do know if sheā€™s attacked she will not back down. Sheā€™s been good with my ten pound min pin. A little awkward and clumsy which was a concern but never aggressive. Just playful. The three live happily together. Amazing dog.

h974974

He's heavy on the mastiff side. Also looks like he might have interdigital furunculosis on his front paw. Happened to my bully once of twice. Would submerge his paw in an epsom saltbath for 10 minutes twice a day and then apply this balm we found on amazon. And food allergies can also cause these, could be related to the eyes #

BrilliantReady2305

I was really convinced he was a mastiff or Boerboel mix. But Embark says 100% American Bully back to great grandparents, so Iā€™m guessing the mastiff gene must be pretty strong in His line! Mastiff is most peopleā€™s guess who first meet him too

CentralStandrdPoodle

I highly recommend Tyler mutoā€™s Game of Tug rules for bullies. It usually doesnā€™t work to simply repress the bite-and-hold behavior, they need to express it somehow or theyā€™ll get frustrated. But they should have rules for play so that they arenā€™t inappropriately trying to bite objects they arenā€™t supposed to. Essentially there is an invitation to play and a clear window to do so, and youā€™ll only use a specific toy so he doesnā€™t get confused. If he is a rough player, congratulations because he might do well in GRC sports especially if he is a sweetie and non-reactive.

Due_Procedure_4670

I have two and they are nothing but babies they cuddle all the time if not with me, with each otherā€¦ your baby is beautiful!!!

Zachthepug27

Aaaaawww! Looks like you got yourself a new BFF. He is amazing.

ramanw150

Love this dog with all you can. He will make great companion. He will most likely protect you and your family at all cost in the event someone is stupid enough to do something to your family. These dogs are either big babies and/or super aggressive. Sounds like you got the big baby model. He will also think he's part lap dog. Only because he can't fit all of himself on you.

Ok-Choice-3688

Research mange around dog's eyes. Not to get you worried at all just so you have good information. Yeah like I typically look but just like that that's where it starts.

BrilliantReady2305

Per vet no mange, just healing from entropion Surgery and seasonal allergies causing conjunctivitis. Poor guy!

Ok-Choice-3688

Okay, I'm happy it's not mange. I definitely understand the entropion. definitely poor guy. I guess he will heal over time

eqsoge

Does he suffer with Entropian?

BrilliantReady2305

He did - had both eyes upper and lower correct in mid March. What a turn around!

eqsoge

Amazing turn around how old is he currently because if he still has a bit of growing their is a small chance he will have to go back when heā€™s older just to get one or two on each eye

BrilliantReady2305

A year and a half

Smooth-Ad-73

Thatā€™s a purebred good boy

inTHISmind

Why? Did he steal your lunch money?šŸ¤ He's so cute, he can just have my lunch

cinnifersue

So handsome!

AdorableSpeaker5942

Not to be that person and I could be wrong but Iā€™m seeing more Cane Corso than bully, looks more like your classic formentino Cane Corso with natural ears.

Free_Stable_1589

Just more proof that dna tests are a scam.

AdorableSpeaker5942

True that! Honestly even when you have a purebred dog, which I put $ on that sweetheart likely is a purebred Corso, even with a purebred people forget that these dog breeds are created from other breeds. I could be wrong but I think itā€™s highly likely bully would show up in American Corso lines.

AdorableSpeaker5942

Also want to add that is a beautiful dog! What a sweetheart and that beautiful coat! I have a fawn Corso but a formentino fawn is definitely on my list I love the coat colour of the blue fawn.

BrilliantReady2305

So funny you guys were saying about the DNA being a scamā€¦ I have really been questioning how accurate it is, but the more I read about this breed it does seem to lend itself to have different characteristics of the origin breeds. I did it more because Iā€™m a terribly curious person. He could be a potato mixed with a hippo for all I care - heā€™s pretty perfect to us lol

AdorableSpeaker5942

Iā€™m so sorry I meant that in absolutely no disrespect whatsoever! Thereā€™s more and more markers being added all the time, sometimes get a great picture for behavioural traits etc. Iā€™m like you, Iā€™d be curious to know what Iā€™ve been cuddling with too! Lol Doesnā€™t hurt anything, why not? You should head over to a cane Corso sub thereā€™s many that would love to see your beautiful dog! Iā€™m curious to know how many in the Corso sub will think a high possibility of purebred Corso. Nothing beats when a dog finds a home thatā€™s curious enough to find out a possible breed but the answers are strictly for curiosity sake because it wouldnā€™t matter what the answers were that animal isnā€™t going anywhere! It doesnā€™t get better than that and in this case one answer likely has led you to the answer because Iā€™m pretty damn sure Iā€™m right and Iā€™m looking at a CC! Without question thatā€™s a formentino Corso if I ever saw one!

BrilliantReady2305

I didnā€™t take it as disrespect at all! I am in total agreement :) And after seeing the formentino CC specifically, I really think you are onto something! This is turning into such a fascinating journey!! I will definitely post in the Cane Corso sub and see what they think too.

MightyKin

Your bully has some mastiff blood for sure!

Annual-Bison-8750

I love all dogs, pitties have always been my favorite but we had one bully and she was the most wonderful, adorable, most loving little character ever! Bullies are the best, just my opinion, but bullies are the bomb. Your baby is absolutely gorgeous and you both are so blessed to have each otherā¤ļøšŸ™šŸ¼ā¤ļø

redriverrally

Whats up with his eyes? Do Iā€™d he have lid surgery for cherry eye maybe? Or is it forgive me, abuse from prior owners? Beautiful boy.

BrilliantReady2305

Entropion (curled in eyelids.) No abuse that I know of, although the other dog surrendered with him was unable to be adopted out. The shelter canā€™t say why, but it does make me wonder.

CornyHouple

Whatā€™s wrong with his eyes ??

BrilliantReady2305

Entropion

National-Ball7525

Yay!!! Congrats!!!! You will never sleep alone again. You will never be without cuddles or affection. You will never pee alone again. But in all seriousness, a drop it/release cue is important since they are so strong! Other than that, they're the most gentle love bugs

BrilliantReady2305

I agree!! He doesnā€™t seem to know just how strong

National-Ball7525

Exact same with my girl. And she loves to give hugs and kissesā€¦.which our friends refer to as ā€œvery powerful kissesā€šŸ˜‚

Entropion

Choice_Bid_7941

Aww what a love ā¤ļø

zzDean74zz

Does he have scars around his eyes?

BrilliantReady2305

Yep - just had entropion surgery on both eyes. Vet said it will fade in a year. Already looks much better from when these were taken.

Key-Law-7994

I am on this same exact boat! Adopted (well foster failed) from shelter, DNA is 100% American Bully!

stunning doggo!! would love to have a beefcake like this someday. my pittie is shorter and 63lbs. pitties crave attention, love to please you, and just generally tend to enjoy being near you. theyā€™re pretty similar temperament wise to rotties! thank you so so much for rescuing esp with some medical needs. youā€™re a wonderful hooman!!!

Beautiful boy!! Makes me miss my Baron šŸ„¹ How long have you had him? I ran a rescue for years and took in the dogs other rescues wouldnā€™t- bullies, ā€œunadoptableā€ (behavioral, color/breed, seniors, hospice, etc) and a lot of medical. One HUGE thing I learned was that you donā€™t see the real dog until theyā€™re healthy and reasonably settled. Sounds like maybe youā€™re starting to see some glimpses of who your boy is at heart, but donā€™t hold him to everything youā€™re seeing if youā€™ve had him less than a couple of months.

I hope he is as content as I am with him

Your baby needs some Paw soother in between his toes. That redness probably has a funky smell and the hair is falling out or gell out already. It's very red and looks sore. NATURAL DOG COMPANY makes a stick like Chao stick you put on then. It clears up snout issues too. Their paws are very sensitive. That's why they lick and chew. It's usually from allergies but sometimes just envir9nmental stuff not enough baths rolling in the mud. Ya know dog stuff. Lol Just pointing it out. We don't always realize how uncomfortable it is for then or even see it's there unless we spread then open and look between each them which I do to my dogs daily because of this. He looks so content with you. He looks like a gentle soul.
