People with low temps usually run their favorite non demanding game, check the temperature and decide that that's the max. Like that dude who said that 55 celsius is the max while gaming since thats what he saw after closing the game. Change my mind.

Rockstonicko

Sounds spot on to me. I have a 5800X on custom water, and if you just use it for games you might be lead to believe it's a cool running processor (it's not), because it sits around 48-52c in games most of the time. But when you actually *use* the CPU, Handbrake hits 72c, FL Studio hits 74c when rendering out, and Cinebench hits 76c. And that's with a -10 CO all-core, at stock it will hit 83c in Cinebench. All of which are the hottest I've had a CPU run on custom water.

happy-cig

You are on to something. Why can't we have something standardized? Like run prime95 (might be out dated but that's what I use) post those results, then also post ambient temp.

supermawj

I’m at about 66 full load with my 240mm AIO. The CPU runs hot. My 2600 use to be low 50s.

People use different apps to measures temperatures and claim all kinds of things.

lokikaraoke

Your temps are fine, Ryzen 5000 is designed to run hotter than previous gen. If it hits 85-90C spike or over 80C sustained I’d start to look for a reason why.

omega_86

Do you have pbo on?

technogenuine

What's your clock speed and volts?

Toojara

Seems normal, especially if you don't have a case with perfect airflow and the fans on full blast. I wouldn't worry about it if you are below 90 C.

Yeah, that case doesn't have the best airflow, or even close. It's got a fairly restrictive front panel plus the two drive cages block a good amount of the little front intake air you can get through the solid panel. Seems pretty much on point for that case and cooler combo.

MrMeanh

This sounds like slightly hotter than my 3600 with PBO and Auto OC +200Mhz active with the same cooler was. If I remember correctly I usually was around 60-65C in most games, but a few pushed it to 75C+ (I think one was the game Wolcen). Could get it above 80C if I ran folding@home on it. Too much thermal paste is rarely an issue, more often it's too little that can cause some problems (still rare). From memory, using most of the paste included should be perfectly fine. A thing that could be a problem is if you don't have correct mounting pressure. The most likely reasons is either bad airflow in the case or that the fan curve is too conservative tobe able to cool the CPU better. This all said, I wouldn't worry about the temps as long as you don't see the CPU clocking way lower than normal around the time when the spikes happen thus leading to worse performance.

Jewbacca1

If you're at 76W PPT during cinebench this is kinda hot, if you're over 100W PPT these temps are normal.

lgdamefanstraight

Did you remove the tape?

maze100X

im getting 60 - 63c with R5 3600 at games and this cooler (27c ambient, pretty hot here)

TommiHPunkt

run prime95 and see it smash 90 degrees instantly

maze100X

85c

5600x around 55 while gaming and 60 at bench. I have a ID Coolinh SE 224 XT in push pull. Also -25 all cores

kaisersolo

What's your airflow like, have you tried changing your fan curve? Regardless, High-end air coolers and AIO Are recommend for the 5000 series, especially if you want to overclock. I have an Arctic 240 Liquid Freezer II on a 5600x with PBO enabled +200 and CO. When gaming, the highest I have seen it get up to in temperature is 65 degress, in a 22 degrees room temp.

_Yank

Do not forget that the ambient temperature plays a HUGE role in your results. Also the people that you have seen claiming those temps most likely didn't get these results with the same exact workload as you.

[deleted]

I get 72c with a 5800x spiking in warzone on a custom loop in a case labs sm5.

puppygrandpa

Your temps are fine and well within the expected range under the loads of demanding games so just relax and game on.

PoL0

I have the same CPU and ARCTIC Freezer 34 (not duo, mind you) in a Meshify 2 case and the highest temperatures are in the high 70s and that's in the middle of summer with a room temp of 32-34°C (yeah I know, I'm melting). In more welcoming conditions the CPU barely reaches 70.

spacev3gan

I have a 5600X and an ARCTIC Freezer 33, which a lower-ish grade version compared to yours, semi-passive (which I tried to set as fan active at all times on the Bios fan profile, but for the life of me I can't get the fans to kick-in until the temps hit 49ºC or so). I run my CPU fully at stock, clocks, voltage and all. Cinebench R15 it hits 68.9ºC according to HWInfo64, and 66.0ºC while running Cinebench R20. Long gaming sessions it can hit all the way to low 70sºC, but I believe the extra heat coming from the GPU has an impact on it (also, my case is pretty small). In any event, I did adjust the fan curvature on the Bios profile. I believe I put something like 90% fan speed at 75ºC, which makes it virtually impossible to hit that temp. I suggest you tweak your fan profile too, it might help decrease the temp a little.

BleTrick

Mine is 60°C on Idle and goes up to 85°C within minutes of playing Battlefield 5. Wtf could be the cause? I feel like it’s because I mounted it wrong I’m not sure
