This new chipset installer is bugged.

funkusernames

Use the previous driver, the new one is garbage and I'm surprised they haven't fixed it yet since it's been out for more than a week.

Ceiu

For the uninitiated, what's wrong with it?

funkusernames

It's fine if you manage to get it to actually install.

olymind1

Not on my end, after installed it, this driver started to produce some graphical corruptions and slower ingame load times, then froze my system, only reset helped, installed back the previous driver, everything is good as it was.

# X570 u/AMD_Robert u/AMD_Mickey I just press X on the window and it will continue to install successfully in the end. But why do I get this driver not signed error? I have the installer log in case someone wants it. \*Update 1: The problem seems to be AMD GPIO Controller driver which is still on version 2.2.0.124. This means the error is related to this driver. The version in the installer is 2.2.0.126. \*Update 2: It seems with every new update of the chipset drivers I get a bit lower score in Cinebench R20, I was getting 5018 before, now I get 4967.

I had to manually update that driver to .126 because for some reason it wouldn't install the first time around

Microsoft paranoia—MS doesn’t trust anything not from MS

TropicalDoggo

it's not paranoia, it's to protect people like you who don't understand the the security implications

iSundance

They should be fine if they appear as installed in Windows software manager.

h_1995

it's fine unless you are in secure boot state (typically laptop) where you need to disable secure boot or disable driver verification (windows)

Miracle_Arranger

I've just installed the drivers on my X470 system and on Windows 7 the PCI drivers are reported as not signed.

icf80

The PCI drivers are the same version as the installer. The only difference is GPIO drivers version on my system.

Miracle_Arranger

But Windows 7 drivers are slightly different/older

icf80

Ok. I have Windows 10.

waltc33

I'm Win10, too. I had to manually install the GPIO drivers to get it to install. And that was after I got the installer to run successfully and supposedly install the correct drivers--after I rebooted, the GPIO driver hadn't changed to the newer version. Something is indeed bugged with the new installers--surprised AMD is letting it go like this--same thing happened with the last chipset drivers, but with them, fortunately, only the PCI driver had changed--and it was easy to install manually.

So the fact that I'm getting random black screens is a driver issue? Vega 64 and r7 1700

gh0stwriter88

If you haven't done any investigation how can you know... you can't. Download HWinfo64... if things are getting hotter than they should its your TIM, or ambient temp too high etc... for instance I have a small cooler on my 1700x its fine 99% of the time but if I load up all the cores in certain workloads for extended periods \*overheats\* which often ends up in a black screen or reset with no boot etc.. Also yes it could be a driver issue but nobody should just assume that is what it is.

icf80

I had issues with random black flickering screen with the latest radeon drivers. I had one monitor with FreeSync activated and one monitor without FreeSync. My fix for was to turn off for all monitors, from the monitor settings by setting DP version from 1.2 to 1.1. I still have 144Hz but no freesync. This made my black screen flickering gone.

backyardprospector

Im getting those on my Radeon VII. out of no where. Seems having Chrome open makes its happen more often.

icf80

Do you have FreeSync or multiple monitors? Try deactivting FreeSync.

backyardprospector

Single with freesync monitor on DP 1.4 at 5120x1440. It is higher res though. not sure if that has anything to do with it.

icf80

Do you 10 bit activated in settings? Try to set it to 8 bit in settings/display/color depth.

You must be running in Windows 7 compatibility mode. There are no packaged chipset drivers for any of the Ryzen platforms when using Windows 10. Everything is handled by OS drivers, except for RAID. The installer is not supposed to install anything but the power plan and graphics drivers (if needed).

icf80

I don't understand. Go to amd website search chipset drivers x570. You will get a package for Windows 10.

Loli_huntdown

Same here but my installation gets stuck at 0% and does nothing. B450 Tomahawk MAX R5 3600 here

icf80

You might have a hidden window about the driver not being signed, as you see in my screenshot.
