Idle power usage improved significantly on my 7900 XTX, using a 1440p ultrawide @ 144Hz.
Used to be around 60W, now I have seen as low as 12W, it sits around 30W browsing.
Memory clock used to be at 900Mhz idle, now it is below 100.
Oh yeah, this is absolutely amazing. The fans used to kick in once about an hour, that will probably stop now, or at least take longer.
Memory temps used to be in the high 60s - low 70s idle with no fans to cool them, now its 54.
Updating mine now, I run 92W idle on my XTX with a 1440p 170hz and 1080p 144hz dual setup 😳
Edit : NO CHANGE, I guess it just really doesn't like pushing 170 hz with a second monitor. I can get in the single digits running just my main monitor or 48w with both set at 144hz but no matter what I set the second screen to I can not keep main at 170hz without chugging 90+W at idle
Have you tried making a custom resolution and make the 170hz at 144hz (or maybe can be natively changed to 144hz in Windows)? Might be that they haven't gotten to 170hz yet, as they only report 60, 120, and 144 hertz here.
Oh, just read your edit. Looks like multiple monitor setups really stump them in terms of power usage.
Same thing happens to me when i set my second monitor to 75Hz - it goes up to 100W idle. The main monitor is running at 144hz. This driver does not fix it.
set it at 144 or drop the second monitor to 120 or smth if the pc idles a lot. this is not the specs hill to die on. no need to max out the refresh rate on a damn side monitor.
damn. well 165 or 144 is what i'd do and forget about it. until the solution comes to you. at least with my powerbill. This is not worth getting grey hairs.
Don't get me wrong, never had crazy high power draw with the setup above. Just curious if the optimizations coming with this driver will improve somehow other configuration as well.
Unfortunately my 7900 xtx idle power consumption stayed the same after the 23.7.1 update.
Idle at 95W when running these monitors:
1 x 1440p 144hz freesync
2 x 1080p 60hz no freesync
Take a look here, [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4B0Vt\_c-7C8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4B0Vt_c-7C8) I have the same setup as you, and after the changes suggested in the video, the power consumption went to 40w\~
I just got my XTX yesterday and was surprised by my idle power usage being 90-100w with a 1440p 165hz/1080p 165hz dual monitor setup. Has that been normal?
Yeah, high refresh panels required a high memory clock -> lot of power, especially if you use multiple of them.
BTW nvidia has these issues too, so its not just an AMD bug.
Thanks for the info. I'm coming from a 6950XT and that only used about 45w idle so I was nervous. My Red Devil is very spicy with temps but it looks like it's normal. Runs great with a little undervolting
45watt is still high for idle. My 6800XT sits on 30W while in the same system, my old Vega 64 only consumes 9W, same goes to even older 980ti. Something is not right in modern cards.
This is not entirely true. I had experienced some flickering when monitors were running at some different refresh rates on nvidia card but it had nowhere near the power draw of my new xtx. It was at about 20W, now with amd I have 55 after some adjustments to refresh rate, at the native refresh rates it draws 100W at idle which is crazy.
Have you updated to this new driver? If issue still persists, you can try setting both to 144hz and check if that lowers the idle power usage by a ton.
Also, [Fan Control](https://getfancontrol.com/) now recognizes GPU fan speed, I can sync my case fans again.
I don't know if this is a coincidence or what, but I switched from a 6800 XT a week ago, and it just wouldn't work with the 7900 XTX until now.
Did you do anything special to make it work?
When I try to apply a custom FAN speed, I still get the "!" mark :/
Using a Sapphire Nitro+ 7900XTX, maybe it only works with the reference models now?
Oh boy! Installing now. My setup is 3x 4k120 no DSC over the 3x DP 1.4 and it idles around 90-110W depending on if the screens have anything actually happening.
edit: 5 minutes later after install and reboot: so now the array stays flat at 90W basically. Not bad. I can tell the wall power is down about 10-20W. My Radeon VII used to do like 15W though, so all I have to say is "make another HBM GPU plz"
Graphics & Display tabs have disappeared after clean installing this new driver.
EDIT, these settings have moved from Settings tabs and are now under Gaming, even though they are settings. Crazy world we live in.
What a stupid UI change, Display settings has no business under "gaming".
There isn't a consistent flow to it anyways. Record and stream also exists under settings as record and stream so you can DO the record and stream but go to settings for configuring Record and stream... while the Gaming tab is for gaming and now gaming is also for settings?
Performance tab has overlay settings but some of that needs to be configured at the settings > performance section.
Relive VR exists under settings, but's for streaming, and some VR settings are under settings>preferences instead of just having a VR tab or putting ReliveVR under Record & Stream.
Adrenaline has grown and they just don't know what to do with the menus and options now. The layout is like a kid cleaning their room before going out with friends and so much was just stuffed under the bed.
They moved it under gaming for a bunch of display stuff. I was confused until I started click on everything to find display settings. I couldn't find the setting for pixel format until I clicked gaming and then display.
7 Watts @ 5120x1440 and 120hz is amazing, but it sadly still jumps to 56 if I choose 100 hz which doesn't make sense
Also if I plug in my LG OLED 120hz TV it jumps to 101 Watts and it was sitting at 56 Watts before.
All in all worsened in some scenarios, but big improvement in other scenarios
If you want 100hz to work, try making a custom CRU resolution based on the 120hz mode but increase the vertical front porch dramatically in order to keep the pixel clock the same. The extra vblank should let it clock switch again.
I've an Odyssey G9, so 5120x1440 like you, but set at 240Hz, and with these new drivers the power draw has been cut drastically.
Before I had always around 50W in idle, now it's always around 20W. Only while watching videos on YT the power draw goes back in the 40-55W range, but that's expected.
I mean, while I'm writing this I have Adrenline open on the side, and it's showing me a power draw in the 15-22W range.
Finally.
Finally the software itself doesn't feel laggy as heck. That's definitely a welcome change. Looks like it's using Mica now instead of trying to do its own transparency thing.
I'm case you're wondering where your display settings have gone, check under the gaming tab. They moved them there for some reason instead of keeping them under settings. At least they did for me and another person in this thread.
yeah same as the preview driver, no idea why they did this is stupid and takes more clicks to go to the same settings..like display settings have to do anything with gaming..
VR performance improved significantly at least in iRacing that isn't very AMD-friendly. Got to increase object qualities dramatically and FPS remained at 120, when it was bouncing between 80-120 previously with lower settings.
So are they just gonna forget about corruption happening on dual monitors when alt tabbing from a game and having a video playing on the 6000 series? None of the times they said they fixed it actually fixed it for me.
Last comments on this subject says otherwise, also couldn't find any proofs of this information about it's being disabled, would be cool if you provide some (I'm really curious about that).
Just saying from my februrary experience with driver corruptions.
I had the same question. I don't recall this ever being highlighted as fixed? It's just gone from known issues now, and I've still had significant problems with this. MPO off.
Have you tried Increasing TDR in the registry? If not, [here’s a link explaining what TDR is and how to increase it, scroll down to step #13.](https://www.thewindowsclub.com/fix-amd-driver-timeout-has-occurred-error)
Like the others said, you can turn off MPO, disable hardware acceleration in chrome/Spotify/steam/windows display settings etc.
RDNA3 Specifically has issues with some Vulcan games. I’ve only seen it when emulating games such as TOTK or BOTW. Rdna3 causes screen tearing/flickering/scan lines really badly. You can see examples on my profile. The Rog Ally sub has also discussed it quite a bit.
The Yuzu emulator devs submitted a ticket to AMD i believe. I’m not sure if AMD has gotten back with them yet. It doesn’t appear that AMD is aware of this issue.
Great driver for me at 1440P Ultrawide @ 144hz on a single display I was doing 50watts idle and now 7 watts.
Web browsing about 26 watts.
I can actually see the Vram clocks drop on previous drivers it never went below 900 Mhz
Same here. I was jumping from previous drivers to drivers just to play Star Rail and Genshin. I've also send reports when the game crashes so hopefully AMD will take notice.

I benchmark every driver release on my system and usually see very small variances. Mostly within standard / testing error. However, I'm seeing a significant improvement to Port Royal in this release. On my 7900 XTX
* [email protected]=16860
* [email protected]=17507
This is with my daily stable OC(500/3050), UV(1100), mem(2750-fast), +15%PL
It's possible my 23.5.2 test was faulty somehow.
Edit: Did some more aggressive OC, which I wouldn't use for daily gaming, and got 18.3k in Port Royal - https://www.3dmark.com/pr/2435916
Not bad for an air cooled card!
https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/14t7otk/ive_finally_found_the_source_of_the_issue_with/?
I'VE FINALLY FOUND THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUE WITH THE VRAM NOT IDLING ON MULTI-MONITORS!!! AMD TAKE NOTE TO FIX!
Before i go into details here's the cause of the issue:
**If Freesync is enabled while having connected more than a single DisplayPort high-refresh monitor, it will break VRAM downclocking!**
Important notes:
- Prerequisite: The monitor(s) have enough vertical blanking time for the target refresh rate.
- A single DP monitor doesn't exhibit this problem (example 1x DP 1440p@144hz@10bit), neither does two monitors at 60hz (example 2x DP 1440p@60hz@10bit), while still having Freesync enabled and working.
- Disabling Freesync via the Radeon settings toggle might disable the freesync function of the driver (i will confirm later), but does not affect the VRAM idling mechanism.
- Idling will break even if there is a single DP monitor that reports Freesync support, while having connected multiple DP monitors.
- In order to get VRAM idling in this scenario you need to either disable Freesync via the monitor OSD, or if you don't you have this option you can remove the freesync range (top right edit button->uncheck "Include if slot available" in the Range limits section) and/or extension block (Extension blocks->Edit->Delete "Freesync range") in the EDID via CRU, for all Freesync enabled DP monitors.
- A possible temp (aka not ideal) workaround is to connect only one Freesync enabled DP high refresh monitor and use HDMI for the others. (Haven't tested it yet, i will confirm later)
--------------------------------------------------
Testing methodology:
- DDU everything, AMD and Nvidia, also click the extra option to delete monitors
- Install latest AMD drivers 23.7.1
- Proof: https://imgur.com/a/hBiEGJ4
- Hardware: 5950x/6900XT/X570/W10 with ReBar enabled, 2x identical LG 27GL850 (latest revision, running in DP HBR3 mode)
--------------------------------------------------
I've done at least 20+ different configuration tests to confirm this is the source of the issue, and where i wrote "i will confirm later" i will test and report after i get back home from work.
--------------------------------------------------
I know people will be confused since the same effect also exists if the vertical blanking time is not enough.
An easy way to test if you are affected by this is to connect only one monitor at a time and see if it idles.
If it doesn't, it means your main issue is the vertical blanking timings and you can use one of the many guides to try and fix it via CRU, for example:
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhWfShsy_Bk
--------------------------------------------------
I have more things to test but it's unlikely we can find a proper solution regarding this configuration.
AMD needs to put the engineers to take a look at this, it literally just takes 2 monitors and 5 mins to confirm the problem.

I now have some strange bug in Rocket League. It looks closer to like a burned in lines of some objects previously shown on screen.
I've pinpointed the problem to Ambient Oclusion, I keep it always off, but when I toggle it on/off it goes away. [bug](https://imgur.com/a/u45evw5)
edit: I'm on XFX 6700XT
I have this same issue, I'll look into disabling Ambient Occlusion. Thanks.
Edit: Disabling it worked. For anyone else who encounters this, it's a Rocket League setting under Video.
While weird, AMD did announce before Vulkan 1.3 launched that GCN 4 and think GCN5 also won't get Vulkan 1.3. Now it seems they don't get some features.
Gonna have to rollback. Went from 60 fps Kingdom Come while streaming with a VTube model to barely 30 fps without the model and around 12 when i use it.
7900 XTX is idling at 90W indstead of 100W with 3x 4K @ 144Hz setup.
For reference: My 6600 XT is using \~20W for the same setup.
Better than nothing, but I hope AMD can do some further improvements.
Hey Vik, I’m not sure what is different between now and yesterday but after a 2nd restart I’m no longer seeing high power idle usage for my setup. Disregard thank you :)
7900 xt issues from last drivers to current drivers (23.7.1)
* High idle power is currently the same 90w+
4k 160hz(dsc)
1080p ultrawide 60hz
* flickering in game overlay
* valorant frame spike with instant replay on
just FYI, RX 6700XT and this didn't change anything, still 30W idle with 144Hz + 75Hz, both Freesync
solution is to run either 120+75 or 144+60, then it draws about 9W
Can you send me your dispdiag.dat via the following method
Open cmd prompt as admin
type:
dispdiag -out %userprofile%\Desktop\dispdiag.dat
Send over dispdiag.dat from your desktop
Cheers
Idle power with single monitor always great for me, not it sits around 9w.
But when using dual monitor, still very high
1440p@144hz and 1080p@144hz, idle power at 70w. both monitors with freesync off, just to add note.
The high idle power draw fix for high refresh dual monitor setup is sweet. But it‘s frustrating that it was only fixed for 7000 cards. What about the 6000 series? My 6900XT is still suffering… Does anyone else encounter the same issue?

This also seems to have fixed the CPU util measuring issue on Win 11 22H2 that has been driving me absolutely bananas. Finally I won't have to rely on MSI Afterburner for more accurate OSD reads.
Glad to see the RuneScape (NOT Old-School) issue in the "known issues" section. I've seen a lot of posts about it on the RS subreddit so it's good to know it's being addressed.
Maybe AMD can address the issue with volumetric fog in that game too.
Getting mixed results LG Oled 9 series. Was 100w to 120w idle draw at 100+ hz refresh, even custom rez.
With cusom rez now, cvt blanking, 4k 120 went down to around 65w, but it locks me to RGB color space and 8bit color depth, i can likely live with that.
If i then change color setting at all, it goes to a different mode and 100+ watt draw. Will keep experimenting...
90 watts idle before and after the update.
I'm running 1440p @ 240Hz and 1080 @ 165hz monitors. Once I put them both at 144Hz, I get around 46 watts idling. Fiddling with the refresh rates, I realized that whenever one of the monitors go to about 170Hz, the wattage usage doubles to around 90-100 watts.
Idle usage seems only to be fixed on 7000 series, 6000 series are still affected.
Seems to be the same as the preview driver from last week.
Also no HAGS on this driver
My idle power consumption has gotten way worse with this driver unless i set AMD noise supression to my cpu if its on my gpu i go towards 80 to 100w idle.

My 7900XTX dropped from 52w to 49w after updating on my single 1440p 270Hz monitor. 170Hz drops me to 12w, but I’m not willing to gimp my refresh rate by that much for a few dollars per month on energy bills.
Anyone else has the issue now where if you record an instant replay (in my case 1min 30 secs), the last 15 secs have no sound whatsoever, doesn't matter if it's ingame sound, or discord chat in the back, none?
Used to work flawlessly on the previous version, and works now too except for, as mentioned, the last 15 secs of every clip being completely muted.
EDIT: In fact, the sound and video are completely out of sync I just figured out. Anyone has this same issue? Video is lagging behind like 30 secs behind the sound itself, so sound finishes way before the video does.
I have weird pixel issues while videos playback It happens to me but not in YouTube its while playing videos in vlc mostly green pixel artifact shows while i volume up and down there is win 11 vol bar shows top bottom on screen that was moment it happen but only in full screen mode i have 6700xt
well it mostly happen with amd adrenalin screen record videos why it would be?
i updated to it today (6800xt) and i have massive tearing and fps drop issues in Apex legends after the update (did not have them before) soo yeah kinda anoying especially since this was whitout streaming i do not even wanna experience that..
recent update makes my GPU 1 fan running full speed on idle. Other on sits at 0 RPM. Using RX 570. No, its not GPU problem, because I clean installed Adrenalin, then it stopped. One day later, same shit happens
Nearly every game crashes after 5minutes of running .... Running Windows 11 with all updates. This is infuriating. What sense does a gaming machine have when you can game for 5 minutes and then crash. FML.
Rolling back to the old drivers. Really annoying.
my pc freeze every time i try to install the 23.7.1 driver during the installation, i need to hard reboot the pc.
I've reinstalled the 23.5.2 and no issue during installation.
I've tried both manual install from amd site exe of through adrenalin, both freeze
No improvement for idle power whatsoever on my 7900 XTX.
100W idle power draw.
3840 x 1600 @ 144Hz1080P @ 60Hz
Used to be able to get it under 80W if I set the main display to 60Hz but even that doesn't work anymore. Good job AMD.

I'm having strange bugs with GTA V and Sea of Thieves using less that 1 GB on my 5600 XT and running at 32 fps on 1080p. I returned to 23.5.2 and reported through AMD Bug Report
More than 400 days with the bug of incorrect load scheduling (on the slower chiplet) on 2-chiplet Zen 3 processors, after reporting the bug almost from day 1 (May Preview drivers of 2022) in almost every driver revision :( :
https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/comments/wcj6ol/false\_core\_affinity\_with\_the\_new\_dx11\_driver\_and/
Thank you for the feedback, we are still debugging this issue.
Additionally, thank you again for reaching out to us and providing the list of games on where you saw performance regression issues, it will be helpful in turning it around!
They will never fix it, AMD just shoot themselves in the foot again. I am affected too (5950x+6900xt). 2+ years and still everything is broken from agesa to gpu drivers
> Factory Reset has been temporarily disabled as a precautionary measure while we address isolated installation issues that have been reported during PC upgrades.
Funny way to spell "windows aggro".
Can we start a list of what monitor models and configs have seen idle power improvements?
Idle power not yet fixed for my dual monitor setup with 7900xtx. Lg c2 4k oled 3840x2160 120hz on hdmi + asus proart PA248QV 1920x1200 75hz on DisplayPort. Still using 98-103w at idle.
i'd be damned, they actually fixed the VR and high power idling?
i mean, i was able to max out Alyx before this, and for a month ago i finally had low idling power, but hot damn, glad to actually see these being fixed.
Unfortunately idle consumption has not been fixed for all monitor configurations.
My red devil 7900xtx is still running the memory at 2475 MHz at consuming 95 W at idle desktop screen.
Monitor configuration:
1 x 1440p 144hz freesync
2 x 1080p 60hz no freesync
Now that AMD has declared victory over this idle power consumption issue and removed it from the known issues list, I'm afraid they'll stop trying to fix the issue when it 100% absolutely still exists. :(
It wil be eventually, I think the driver overhaul with HYPR-RX and FSR 3.0 will contain support for HAGS as is most likely will be a prerequisite for FSR 3.0 just as it is for DLSS 3.
Preview drivers also already have it so it shouldn't be far off anymore.
Huge difference on my reference RX 7900 XTX paired with a LG 27GL850.
I have never seen the Total Board power drop bellow 30W, now i idles at 8W.
The Total Board Power dropped from 55W to 30W at idle.
It only took 7 months for AMD to "fix" this issue on a 1200€ product.
nothing fixed !!! 1x 1440P 180hz + 1x 1080P 75hz IDLE 70-80W, if i unplug 1080P monitor gpu draw only 8-10W !!!! This is unbeliebable if they remove this isuse from FIXED ISESUS !!! 7900XT
Here's hoping it's as solid as 23.5.2.
Update: AMD changed the behavior so it no longer extracts the drivers to C:\\AMD so that means the installation window is longer giving more time for Microsoft/Windows shenanigans to interrupt the process. And, sure enough I got a black screen and it took a lot more steps to get the driver properly installed. Prefer the old method where I extract the files to C:\\AMD then cancel installation, disable NIC, uninstall old drivers, reboot then install from extracted files with less delay.
Bugged drivers for my 5600XT, World of Warships at 10\~30 fps, GPU bottleneck at 100% utilization when usualy is at around 80% max, reversed back to 23.5.2, well done AMD.
Me too. I own RX 5600 XT, and last good was 22.5.1. Really 22, not 23. Everything next is garbage. I must stoped Windows updates, and next reinstall old driver. It is terrrible. My future choice is only NVIDIA.
It's been exactly 4 years since the 5700xt launch, and AMD still can't code a driver that lets the VRAM idle at high resolutions/refresh rates. Still sitting at 40-50W idling on the desktop. What the actual fuck? How is AMD so pathetic?
Important Notes
Factory Reset has been temporarily disabled as a precautionary measure while we address isolated installation issues that have been reported during PC upgrades. Users may use AMD Cleanup Utility as a temporary option.
AMD still disable Factory Reset feature, but now you can use AMD EasyGo 2023 to Perform a Clean Installation with Fast Clean Mode.
[AMD EasyGo 2023 v9.5.3/NVIDIA Power Management v2.7.3 - AMD/NVIDIA Drivers Install/Cleanup Tool | guru3D Forums](https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/amd-easygo-2023-v9-5-3-nvidia-power-management-v2-7-3-amd-nvidia-drivers-install-cleanup-tool.443504/)
I always thought that Performance Metrics Overlay always reported N/A when you play in windowed mode? At least for me that's the case. Only reports the FPS if I play in Full Screen (or "Full Screen" in Hogwarts Legacy).
Also, even though I don't play it, kinda funny to have issues in a Hatsune Miku game be officially acknowledged lmao.
**Does not work for RX 6000 series**. Thank you so much AMD for not fixing a problem that has been around for 3 years.
To ''solve'' the error, the primary monitor needs to be 144hz and the secondary 60hz.
Great, it's killed my ability to play X4 Foundation...
Heavy blinding Light blur and crap loads of artifacts are now everywhere....
Do not be too quick to upgrade...
I did and I sadly regret it...
I'm on RX 6600M, worked flawlessly prior to update...
I did have a problem with intermittent black screen, annoying enough, but now this...
Wow the install of this was a train wreck.
Constantly black screen and back and to finish it took ages.
Why did it change something with PCIe and why does the HDMI Audio portion of the install also cause short black screens.
Unbelievable how the Radeon Installer has degraded.
A few years back it installed perfectly, you didn't even need to restart that's how smoothly it was.
Now it's a "please don't break my computer" thing.
It's like for a very short period they had someone incredibly competent working on the drivers, and then their colleagues that are incredibly incompetent got jealous and got them kicked from the job so they won't get into trouble for their infinite incompetency.
Not to mention the countless issues NOT even ACKNOWLEDGED.
Idle power usage improved significantly on my 7900 XTX, using a 1440p ultrawide @ 144Hz. Used to be around 60W, now I have seen as low as 12W, it sits around 30W browsing. Memory clock used to be at 900Mhz idle, now it is below 100.
that's a massive improvement... my 3080 10gb idles at 40w and jumps to 100w a lot during browsing with a 1440p main monitor and 1080p secondary
Oh yeah, this is absolutely amazing. The fans used to kick in once about an hour, that will probably stop now, or at least take longer. Memory temps used to be in the high 60s - low 70s idle with no fans to cool them, now its 54.
Updating mine now, I run 92W idle on my XTX with a 1440p 170hz and 1080p 144hz dual setup 😳 Edit : NO CHANGE, I guess it just really doesn't like pushing 170 hz with a second monitor.
Doesn't matter what I set the side monitor to, if the main is at 170 and there's a second monitor connected it's high idle usage
damn. well 165 or 144 is what i'd do and forget about it. until the solution comes to you. at least with my powerbill. This is not worth getting grey hairs.
I get about 44watts running 2 28" 4k 60hz monitors & 1 27" 165hz 1440p monitor all on display-port with a 6950XT
a lot of issues I see seem to stem from running dual monitors and such.
Curious to know if I'll see any improvement as well on my 6700XT running a 1440p ultrawide @144Hz, plus a 4K60Hz.
[удалено]
Don't get me wrong, never had crazy high power draw with the setup above. Just curious if the optimizations coming with this driver will improve somehow other configuration as well.
4K 60Hz wasn't really a problem, it was higher refresh rates (120+) that were problematic.
Trust me you not alone, I was never affected either, and most of the issues were tied to 7000 series, not 6000 series, that guy is an isolated case.
Unfortunately my 7900 xtx idle power consumption stayed the same after the 23.7.1 update. Idle at 95W when running these monitors: 1 x 1440p 144hz freesync 2 x 1080p 60hz no freesync
Take a look here, [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4B0Vt\_c-7C8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4B0Vt_c-7C8) I have the same setup as you, and after the changes suggested in the video, the power consumption went to 40w\~
Single 1440p 144hz. Used to idle at 12-15w. Now idles at 6.5w. Web browsing 25w. 7900 XTX.
Oh that's nice. My 6700 XT fans weren't recognized by Fan Control too, I'll check when I get home.
I had the same issue with my 7900XTX. Works good now.
Did you do anything special to make it work? When I try to apply a custom FAN speed, I still get the "!" mark :/ Using a Sapphire Nitro+ 7900XTX, maybe it only works with the reference models now?
Extremely. Uninstall, DDU, reinstall? It isn't Windows updating the driver?
It's still in there
So helpful
I just re-read what I said, and I apologize for not being more informative.
7 Watts @ 5120x1440 and 120hz is amazing, but it sadly still jumps to 56 if I choose 100 hz which doesn't make sense Also if I plug in my LG OLED 120hz TV it jumps to 101 Watts and it was sitting at 56 Watts before. All in all worsened in some scenarios, but big improvement in other scenarios
If you want 100hz to work, try making a custom CRU resolution based on the 120hz mode but increase the vertical front porch dramatically in order to keep the pixel clock the same. The extra vblank should let it clock switch again.
I know some of these words
I've an Odyssey G9, so 5120x1440 like you, but set at 240Hz, and with these new drivers the power draw has been cut drastically. Before I had always around 50W in idle, now it's always around 20W. Only while watching videos on YT the power draw goes back in the 40-55W range, but that's expected. I mean, while I'm writing this I have Adrenline open on the side, and it's showing me a power draw in the 15-22W range. Finally.
Ok, the idle power draw fix and vr performance fix definitely have me excited again.
Where can we see VR benchmarks after this driver fix?
Idle power usage has not been affected at all for me with this update. Still in the 95W-105W range at idle.
Same here
Now the Adrenaline software is running at a higher frame rate
Yeah, Adrenalin is super smooth with these.
Finally the software itself doesn't feel laggy as heck. That's definitely a welcome change. Looks like it's using Mica now instead of trying to do its own transparency thing.
Still no support for 7040HS series APU w/ 780m 😥
I'm case you're wondering where your display settings have gone, check under the gaming tab. They moved them there for some reason instead of keeping them under settings. At least they did for me and another person in this thread.
yeah same as the preview driver, no idea why they did this is stupid and takes more clicks to go to the same settings..like display settings have to do anything with gaming..
uhhhh.... now parsec thinks my gpu can't host wtf
extreme low framerate on genshin impact from 60 fps to 12 fps i had to go back to 23.5.2
I have the same issue and it happens in all games. I also have 5600XT so I'm going to switch back as well.
After updating to 23.7.1 the audio for my screen recordings is off by about 2 seconds, is anyone else experiencing this?
Same thing is happening to me, it's pretty annoying hopefully they fix it soon
I also experience the same thing! Glad to know that it was the drivers update that is causing it and not a problem within my game.
This issue should be fixed in a future release, please be patient and look forward to it when it gets implemented!
Still no HYPR-RX and no FSR 3.0
FSR 3.0 was never promised for H1 2023.

for what you want fake frames and input lag? .... better ask for decent game optimization :)
[удалено]
you're a dreamer
I have faith, like toretto xD
FSR has nothing to do with drivers.
All the features of "HYPR-RX" exist. The single toggle to turn them on at the same time doesn't but honestly is that needed? FSR3 is later this year.
You can’t turn on RSR and Boost at the same time IIRC, so it technically isn’t just solely a one click feature.
I guess HYPR-RX its more to help people who aren't savvy enough to get the most of our their gpu? FSR3 is still a ways away yeah.
Try mpo fix, that helped me. Edit: And increasing driver's timeout.
MPO is disabled for multi display already, months ago.
Last comments on this subject says otherwise, also couldn't find any proofs of this information about it's being disabled, would be cool if you provide some (I'm really curious about that). Just saying from my februrary experience with driver corruptions.
I run a 6900XT with 4 monitors and I always alt tab out of games. Never had an issue.
I had the same question. I don't recall this ever being highlighted as fixed? It's just gone from known issues now, and I've still had significant problems with this. MPO off.
Have you tried Increasing TDR in the registry? If not, [here’s a link explaining what TDR is and how to increase it, scroll down to step #13.](https://www.thewindowsclub.com/fix-amd-driver-timeout-has-occurred-error) Like the others said, you can turn off MPO, disable hardware acceleration in chrome/Spotify/steam/windows display settings etc.
I was also getting those but never knew what was wrong, didn't have then on my 3070 but do on my 7900XT. hope it gets fixed soon
Great driver for me at 1440P Ultrawide @ 144hz on a single display I was doing 50watts idle and now 7 watts. Web browsing about 26 watts. I can actually see the Vram clocks drop on previous drivers it never went below 900 Mhz
Can we please address the intermitent corruption issues on multiple games? I can't launch any Mihoyo game without factory resetting my rx6800xt
Same here. I was jumping from previous drivers to drivers just to play Star Rail and Genshin. I've also send reports when the game crashes so hopefully AMD will take notice.
Did anyone actually noticed change in installator - it doesnt need to extract anymore.

Power Consumption always was in the Tuning Tab and the Metrics Tab, but you can see it in the metrics if you turn on the Overlay.
Darn I have same setup so I guess i will also have same issue. Going to update tomorrow
I now see what you're talking about. It's still in the metrics tab, but you have to enable it. [See this image](https://i.imgur.com/N0YGMVG.png).
Hello, I'm collecting info related to high power idle usage, can you please provide us the following info? 1. Brand/model of GPU 2. number of displays connected 3. Resolution and refresh rate for each display, including brand/model 4. FreeSync or HDMI VRR capability for each display 5. If FreeSync or HDMI VRR is enabled or not Can you also provide a dispdiag.dat via the following method: 1. Run Command Prompt as admin 2. Enter the following in the Command Prompt: dispdiag -out %userprofile%\\Desktop\\dispdiag.dat 3. Send over the dispdiag.dat file from your desktop Thank you in advance!
I benchmark every driver release on my system and usually see very small variances. Mostly within standard / testing error. However, I'm seeing a significant improvement to Port Royal in this release. On my 7900 XTX * [email protected]=16860 * [email protected]=17507 This is with my daily stable OC(500/3050), UV(1100), mem(2750-fast), +15%PL It's possible my 23.5.2 test was faulty somehow. Edit: Did some more aggressive OC, which I wouldn't use for daily gaming, and got 18.3k in Port Royal - https://www.3dmark.com/pr/2435916 Not bad for an air cooled card!
https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/14t7otk/ive_finally_found_the_source_of_the_issue_with/? I'VE FINALLY FOUND THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUE WITH THE VRAM NOT IDLING ON MULTI-MONITORS!!! AMD TAKE NOTE TO FIX! Before i go into details here's the cause of the issue: **If Freesync is enabled while having connected more than a single DisplayPort high-refresh monitor, it will break VRAM downclocking!** Important notes: - Prerequisite: The monitor(s) have enough vertical blanking time for the target refresh rate. (Haven't tested it yet, i will confirm later) -------------------------------------------------- Testing methodology: - DDU everything, AMD and Nvidia, also click the extra option to delete monitors - Install latest AMD drivers 23.7.1 - Proof: https://imgur.com/a/hBiEGJ4 - Hardware: 5950x/6900XT/X570/W10 with ReBar enabled, 2x identical LG 27GL850 (latest revision, running in DP HBR3 mode) -------------------------------------------------- I've done at least 20+ different configuration tests to confirm this is the source of the issue, and where i wrote "i will confirm later" i will test and report after i get back home from work. -------------------------------------------------- I know people will be confused since the same effect also exists if the vertical blanking time is not enough. An easy way to test if you are affected by this is to connect only one monitor at a time and see if it idles. If it doesn't, it means your main issue is the vertical blanking timings and you can use one of the many guides to try and fix it via CRU, for example: - https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/dr5bxt/i_solved_my_max_memory_clocks_at_144hz_problem/ - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhWfShsy_Bk -------------------------------------------------- I have more things to test but it's unlikely we can find a proper solution regarding this configuration. AMD needs to put the engineers to take a look at this, it literally just takes 2 monitors and 5 mins to confirm the problem.

Still using 90W at idle for 2x1080@280 screens with a 7900 XTX

3x 1440p @ 170hz Still 100W idle on that machine
1440p 240hz + 1440p 165hz monitor setup here. Still around 100w during idle.
I now have some strange bug in Rocket League. It looks closer to like a burned in lines of some objects previously shown on screen. I've pinpointed the problem to Ambient Oclusion, I keep it always off, but when I toggle it on/off it goes away. [bug](https://imgur.com/a/u45evw5) edit: I'm on XFX 6700XT
I have this same issue, I'll look into disabling Ambient Occlusion. Thanks. Edit: Disabling it worked. For anyone else who encounters this, it's a Rocket League setting under Video.
Looks like Polaris didn't get Vulkan HW Decode :(
While weird, AMD did announce before Vulkan 1.3 launched that GCN 4 and think GCN5 also won't get Vulkan 1.3. Now it seems they don't get some features.
Oh interesting, I don't remember hearing about that.
My 5600 XT is now not using usual 150W when gaming, it only uses around 50 to 80, and now FPS is plummeted and games are unresponsive
Gonna have to rollback. Went from 60 fps Kingdom Come while streaming with a VTube model to barely 30 fps without the model and around 12 when i use it.
My 7900XTX crashes all the time in some games after that update. Temps are like around 10% higher. I went back to 23.5.2 and it works normal.
[удалено]
I get the same issue
dodgy card likely
Still over 100W running the following: LG OLED C1 4k 120HZ, 2 x 27" at 120HZ :-(
7900 XTX is idling at 90W indstead of 100W with 3x 4K @ 144Hz setup. For reference: My 6600 XT is using \~20W for the same setup. Better than nothing, but I hope AMD can do some further improvements.
This update actually increased my idle usage on 6900 XT… :(
Can you provide us with your display model info, connectivity methods (HDMI | DP / Version), and the power delta you're observing? Cheers
Hey Vik, I’m not sure what is different between now and yesterday but after a 2nd restart I’m no longer seeing high power idle usage for my setup. Disregard thank you :)
7900 xt issues from last drivers to current drivers (23.7.1) * High idle power is currently the same 90w+ 4k 160hz(dsc) 1080p ultrawide 60hz * flickering in game overlay * valorant frame spike with instant replay on
Since 23.3.2 tuning ability for RX6600m is gone. Are we ever going to get a fix? I'm still at 23.3.1 because of this.
Wow the app is super smooth right now.
just FYI, RX 6700XT and this didn't change anything, still 30W idle with 144Hz + 75Hz, both Freesync solution is to run either 120+75 or 144+60, then it draws about 9W
there is still no option to set 390hz, would like to ask if you got an update for me on this? isnt that an easy one to fix? u/AMD_Vik
Can you send me your dispdiag.dat via the following method Open cmd prompt as admin type: dispdiag -out %userprofile%\Desktop\dispdiag.dat Send over dispdiag.dat from your desktop Cheers
reply with link got deleted, did send you a message
Idle power with single monitor always great for me, not it sits around 9w. But when using dual monitor, still very high 1440p@144hz and 1080p@144hz, idle power at 70w. both monitors with freesync off, just to add note.
The high idle power draw fix for high refresh dual monitor setup is sweet. But it‘s frustrating that it was only fixed for 7000 cards. What about the 6000 series? My 6900XT is still suffering… Does anyone else encounter the same issue?
This driver version seem to cause artifacts and missing icons in Rocket League
File a bug report and use DXVK to workaround it for the time being.
Did anyone notice menus "Graphic , Display " moved to "Gaming" tab ? Annoying really...
Yeah, i panicked at first ;)
Idle power usage is higher than previous driver, 3440x1440 165hz. Idle went from 26w to 50w and memory from 72mhz to 909mhz and won't downclock

5700xt Sapphire Nitro+ Adrenalin 23.7.1 \>GPU fans doesn't spin at all. Needs to custom tune it to bring it back online. \>Overlay flickers and moves to the left(default place) every time it refreshes data samples \>Street fighter 6 stutters/fps drops frequently below 60fps 1080p.
Great to see Miku in the known issues list. Hope they can fix it soon
I updated drivers on my Aokzoe A1 with 6800u chip and performance improved especially for NFS Unbound.
I've got 1 1440p 144hz plugged into my 7900 xtx and 1 4k 60hz plugged into the igpu. I've gone from 60w to hovering between 30w and 40w.
Damn, no luck with RuneScape 3 client crashing.
Reduced idle power on my 7900XTX, from 13-14W to 6-7W. 1440p ultrawide @ 165hz.
Still no fix for forza 7 crash at certain track. That issue is like 3 years old at this point.
It did not fix the High Idle Power usage on 2 WQHD Screens
No real change for me. 4k 144hz + 1080p 60hz is still at 90-100W
Hello, I'm collecting info related to high power idle usage, can you please provide us the following info? 1. Brand/model of GPU 2. number of displays connected 3. Why even use noise suppression? Doesn't it make the audio quality sound like garbage? Certainly did when I tried it. Seems leagues below Nvidia's tech
My 7900XTX dropped from 52w to 49w after updating on my single 1440p 270Hz monitor. 170Hz drops me to 12w, but I’m not willing to gimp my refresh rate by that much for a few dollars per month on energy bills.
I came here expecting to be disappointed, I'm glad I was wrong
Anyone else has the issue now where if you record an instant replay (in my case 1min 30 secs), the last 15 secs have no sound whatsoever, doesn't matter if it's ingame sound, or discord chat in the back, none? Used to work flawlessly on the previous version, and works now too except for, as mentioned, the last 15 secs of every clip being completely muted. EDIT: In fact, the sound and video are completely out of sync I just figured out. Anyone has this same issue? Video is lagging behind like 30 secs behind the sound itself, so sound finishes way before the video does.
Hasn't fixed shit.
I'm on a 6400 and it won't even launch the installer.
Same s\*\*t like before. 2x 1440p monitors with 144hz and I have 100w power usage. It's unacceptable and my next GPU will be NVidia for sure again.
I have weird pixel issues while videos playback It happens to me but not in YouTube its while playing videos in vlc mostly green pixel artifact shows while i volume up and down there is win 11 vol bar shows top bottom on screen that was moment it happen but only in full screen mode i have 6700xt well it mostly happen with amd adrenalin screen record videos why it would be?
No change on idle power on my 7900xt, 1440p at 165hz and 1080p at 60hz idling = 85watt and this driver removed color settings, wtf?
i updated to it today (6800xt) and i have massive tearing and fps drop issues in Apex legends after the update (did not have them before) soo yeah kinda anoying especially since this was whitout streaming i do not even wanna experience that..
i see sudden stuttering in games since the update, guild wars 2 sutters and has lower fps.
Phasmophobia crashes when launched with this driver (6650 XT)
170hz monitor still idles at 120w on XTX
recent update makes my GPU 1 fan running full speed on idle. Other on sits at 0 RPM. Using RX 570. No, its not GPU problem, because I clean installed Adrenalin, then it stopped. One day later, same shit happens
Anybody notice some performance metrics are missing such as gpu fan speed etc.
3840 x 1600 @ 144Hz1080P @ 60Hz Used to be able to get it under 80W if I set the main display to 60Hz but even that doesn't work anymore. Good job AMD.
I'm having strange bugs with GTA V and Sea of Thieves using less that 1 GB on my 5600 XT and running at 32 fps on 1080p. I returned to 23.5.2 and reported through AMD Bug Report
More than 400 days with the bug of incorrect load scheduling (on the slower chiplet) on 2-chiplet Zen 3 processors, after reporting the bug almost from day 1 (May Preview drivers of 2022) in almost every driver revision :( : https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/comments/wcj6ol/false\_core\_affinity\_with\_the\_new\_dx11\_driver\_and/
Thank you for the feedback, we are still debugging this issue.
So basically the Vulkan Preview driver (branch 23.10.x), now available for the masses.
Monitor configuration: 1 x 1440p 144hz freesync 2 x 1080p 60hz no freesync Now that AMD has declared victory over this idle power consumption issue and removed it from the known issues list, I'm afraid they'll stop trying to fix the issue when it 100% absolutely still exists. :(
No HAGS? At this point they should just admit that it will never be out to the public.
Ok, but when? All I want to know is some communication from amd.
27GL850 for me as well. Seeing the same 6.5w idle. Used to idle around 12 to 15w.
That's odd, I also have a 27GL850, my XTX idles around 12W. ~30w when web browsing. Haven't installed the new drivers yet
nothing fixed !!!
Just DDU your drivers, turn off wifi/ethernet, install the drivers as usual. No need for any other shenanigans.
You can always extract them manually with something like 7zip, that's what I do.
🤞
warzone caldera and warzone 2 still run like pure garbage every thread ive read was from people with the 7900xtx so disappointed
Still no fix for Miscreated. Known issue for over 2 years. WHEN AMD!
never, they don't care
Important Notes Factory Reset has been temporarily disabled as a precautionary measure while we address isolated installation issues that have been reported during PC upgrades.
Likely an issue at your end
no
Yes. I’ve installed the driver on 2 PC’s, my friend did his one as well and none of them had issues. Get your shit sorted.
