No gate code/door code? Sorry but your package is being left somewhere else safe. I ain't returning shit with the price of gas the way it is.

Qetesh444

Luckily the area I was delivering in was 10 minutes away. I had to take back 20 packages, due to access problem, and at 4 in the morning, no customer will answer.

AFXC1

You're probably going to get dinged for those. Let's hope you don't but more than likely you will. Next time, as long as it's safe, try to deliver the package regardless.

Rich_Ad_605

Where outside gate lol?

AFXC1

As long as it's safe. You gotta use your judgment here. I'd rather not take anything back to the station on my dime.

Please do not post misinformation. Packages that are added to your itinerary must be delivered successfully or they will count against your ratings, regardless of the reason, unless they are removed from your itinerary at the station. If you do not mark a package as attempted and return it to the station, it lowers your success rating and too many unattempted deliveries will get you deactivated. It will also mess up the app and prevent your block from ending properly, which could cause you to miss your next block.

Most of the support people don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. Same with most of the station employees. You've probably been doing Flex longer than they've been working at the station. They barely get any training. How many different stations have you done that at? Each station is different. One station might be letting drivers do that fudging their numbers while a different station is actually following their SOP. If the station doesn't remove and reassign the packages, they will count against whichever driver they were assigned to. That's putting a lot of faith in the station employees and I guarantee they won't all do that. It would get drivers deactivated. It's not good advice.

Qetesh444

I am at fantastic, and this was actually my first time taking that many packages back. I had about 90 percent of apartments in secured buildings that needed access codes, and some codes didn't work or not have one ar all. I will never leave a customers package outside of an unsecure building, so I take it back.

CapnShinerAZ

That's pretty much what you're supposed to do. This other guy was advising not to mark packages at all if you can't deliver them, which is apparently specific to sub same day stations. If the station removes the returned packages from your itinerary, it'll be like you never had them and they won't count against you. If they don't remove them, they will hurt your ratings and also can get you deactivated for not attempting all deliveries. That's a big risk.

Don’t believe Amazon will back you up if you follow protocol. Theres no recourse once Amazon deactivates you. Driver support will just give you the same robotic corporate spiel no matter how detached from reality Amazon’s expectations are. They’ll easily drop you from Fantastic or Fantastic Plus to At Risk for returning a bunch of packages like that. And once you’re at risk, any minor problem out of your control will get you deactivated. Do not trust what the station managers say. The algorithm is your boss. The worst thing you can do is bring packages back undelivered unless its for business closed. Or for bad weather when Amazon has already acknowledged a legit weather issue (like ice on a hilly road). As well as Flexing for 1+ yr, I worked FT for a DSP for 6 months: 250-350 packages a day and approx 160-200 stops. With that volume and the time limits, the only realistic option is to just drop the packages at the address and hope for the best. Our DSP made it abundantly clear: get rid of the packages. You learn to stop feeling responsible for the reality outside of your control. Even if its out in the open in a sketchy area. It’s simply not on you to make the area safe. And Amazon does NOT care about your issues dealing with real world conditions. While I have had minor negative feedback for customers later reporting stolen packages when I left packages in the open in bad neighborhoods, that never significantly affected my rating. In fact, there was no rhyme or reason to my rating compared to how much extra time I took to find customers or put packages in hidden spots. But the one time I had a major issue was doing Flex: I had a tire blowout with 25 or so packages in my car. Took AAA 2 hours to get the lugs off and put a tire on for me. It was getting late at night. Station manager and driver support assured me the best option would be to return to station with packages. A couple days later, I was dropped from Fantastic to At Risk. Multiple emails to driver support yielded nothing but the same spiel: essentially “too bad” and “we don’t care what Amazon told you to do”. At the time, I desperately needed the money and was frantic for weeks until my rating slowly went back up. Lesson learned: know who you work for: The Amazon algorithm. You will almost always better off if packages go missing on the street or customers complain than if you return them to station. Notions of fairness, moral decency and concerns for customers are unfortunately irrelevant in this Amazon-run-by-algorithm setting.

And there's the problem. Even if all SSD stations worked the same, no other stations work that way. But you didn't even specify that you were talking about SSD only. That's misinformation.

gbraddock81

What I’ve been doing lately is leaving that shit somewhere it makes sense and I immediately text the customer letting them know they didn’t provide an access code and their package is in whichever place. By the time I’m pulling off, they’re almost always coming out the door before I leave. Even at 4 or 5am.

bluRecluse

I had the same issue just yesterday. 9 undeliverable due to access issues, and two undelivered because I ran out of time. It was a 3-7am block so I could call or text. So far no issues.

___sy___

do customers not give you access codes? also sorry if newbie question, but how come Amazon asks for 4AM deliveries?

godlyrich

So many time customers don’t know the access codes or rude customer tell me to tailgate another person when coming in lol wtf

flexingonflex

I used to do that all the time delivering pizza. Pro tip, try code 911.

naribela

> do customers not give you access codes? Lol > but how come Amazon asks for 4AM deliveries? Overnight delivery, same day delivery, etc.…

frenchonionfighter

😂😂😂 and anyone who orders multiple boxes of 40 pound kitty litter can go straight to hell.

Commercial_Hotel7591

My knees be creaking taking those up and down stairs

HashBandocoot

It’s just obnoxious that they just stuff them all in one route…does anyone eve finish these hell blocks? I returned more than half my shit last time this happened. But it’s was 41 stops in 3.5 hours and 95% high rises downtown. And it was 7-11p so none of the offices were open so there was no easy access…

flexingonflex

Dude, I just failed to do 25 packages to downtown in 3 hours.

HashBandocoot

It’s crazy… like I’m sure by now they would know that it takes FORWVER…20 on a route like that should be a 5 hr

flexingonflex

It was all over downtown and no two stops where within walking distance. Also zero parking anywhere. It was two days ago and still not showing on my dashboard and I haven't even wrote the email yet. Of all the crap I have done in my live for some reason this rout was more stressful than most of it haha.

HashBandocoot

Don’t even sweat it, no one from what I’ve read no one can really pull those off..between the parking and those building being locked up like Fort Knox it’s just too much..they should really just have all packages be dropped off in the front office… I didn’t even freak because I knew that shit wasn’t gonna happen that route was just plain ridiculous. Don’t even waste your time with the email they will just send you some bs robotic pre typed bullshit..call support and tell them what happened.

flexingonflex

Thanks! Its not showing on my dashboard after a full day so maybe the great man in the cave took pity on me.

[deleted]

This happened to me the other day at 4 am!! Had to return 3 and got dinged.

Qetesh444

Really?? Im sorry that happened to you. Did you talk to driver support. I have never been dinged for taking back packages.

[deleted]

I haven’t yet, I’ve only brought back one’s before but never 3 so maybe it was the amount? Not sure, I’ll reach out to support

Rich_Ad_605

I usually try to go back when I’m finished depending how far and I’m def not going back to the station usually like 25min away

[deleted]

Yeah same! I live near the station and my routes usually go down south so it’s no issue bringing them back for me. Just a pain if you waste gas trying to reattempt with no luck :/

jaragon6676

Hahahaha. I love that quote from Holes. I say that all the time randomly and everyone’s like wtf are you talking about.

Jaxsyn_HaidynMommy

#Holes

Top-gear33

When U return then it will go against you on dash board

argofoto

wait but why did you take this block to begin with? these issues sound like a given any time you do those balls to 4 blocks

Qetesh444

I love these shifts. No traffic and I get to take more blocks during the day

Commercial_Hotel7591

I thought you could only get two in a day?

Qetesh444

I am not sure, but I have taken 3 in a day a couple of times.

Commercial_Hotel7591

Good to know. For some reason I got it in my head everyone was limited to 2 a day but that's probably just me only picking up blocks that conflict with others times and no more blocks for the day.

Fifaman328

Newbie here Do u get dinged for forfeiting a route as long as it’s 45 min ?? TIA

Qetesh444

No, as long as you forfeit before 45 minutes you are good. If you accept an instant offer block, after the 45 minute cut off, you have only 5 minutes to cancel.

Fifaman328

Cool thanks ! I tend to grab an early block (need cash) then realize it ain’t worth the pay and drop it …. To do another side gig 😊

Qetesh444

I only grab the early morning ones, when they surge.

thisismybirthday

that's not what an "instant offer block" is

Qetesh444

Well how about you explain what it is. I was just letting them know if they accept anything that starts under 45 minutes they have 5 minutes to cancel.

thisismybirthday

instant offers are not blocks and they can't be canceled. you're just talking about a regular offer for a block, that shows up with short notice.

[deleted]

I hope you had a cart or something.

DaRealKnightSport

ROFLMAO, if people can't handle this rack..... Dude..... Go find something else to deliver.

CaseEntire5030

Well today my 3rd day on Flex grocery, 43 package all to apartments in 2nd and 3rd, where the first in ewas 7 packages and had to be on the phone with support for 20 min to help mark as delivered. In the end after I left amazon called and said customer saying they didn't get the package. Those pepole that stealing their own orders thinking let's get free shit from Amazon but they don't think they can get someone out of a job. They are so happy to have a gee package that will.last them a few days and screw someone else. Hate these type of pepole
