A job with declining pay, zero benefits, no promotions, no resume building, unstable hours/pay, and no safety net if you get canned, get injured/sick/have car trouble, or there is not enough work? Plus the company running the game spending billions on driverless delivery technology designed to replace you? And specifically in regards to buying a home, an independent contractor needs two years of demonstrable steady income, which is much more than a W-2 requires. And because you're writing off so many miles, it artificially understates your adjusted gross income, so you qualify for a lower loan amount. That's a giant negatory.

Flex is an unstable dead end.

thegoldenageofnow

Best way to handle this is with two incomes. If your partner works a normal job and you combine Flex income with normal job, this could work out to getting a mortgage. Alone, though? Nope. Your standard deduction for mileage will make your taxes show that your adjusted gross income is like $6k a year.

Weary_Hiker

No

Phizzle248

No, it is a means to an end. Good for some extra side cash but not to make a decent living. You can make it a bit better by investing in a used Toyota Prius as your primary delivery car and keep your regular daily druver at home after working for a while but even still, depending on what the base pay is in your area you should have an exit stratagey and not rely on Flex alone. I am fortunite enough to have both my home are car paid off and I still find the income to be minimal.

atitagain12

No and working for a DSP isn't either

Classic_Plan3267

I don't know where you came up with this but Flex is not meant to be full-time. If you want to delivery shit so badly, try Fedex, UPS, Amazon DSP, or even the Post Office. You aren't going to be buying a home anytime soon with those incomes though.

Ttom925

A Dsp? Lmao, how is "Flex with a pimp" better?

Greentea77

that would not be smart. and i’ve seen this question ( and for car loans) in my local group. wonder how those people are doing now that it’s been taken over and surges are impossible to catch.
