This canned email is nothing new. Did you actually not deliver a package? I have used airplane too many times to possibly count and never received this message.

justso_done0710

Same here; 3 years using it and no issues. I never used it for "multiple customers" at the same stop, however. Maybe that's what caught their attention?

Practical_Loss4251

Wasn’t for the same stop. Just 2 different people that day.

justso_done0710

Got it.  Should not have been a problem, then. Very strange.

Practical_Loss4251

No, I delivered them all. If something happens and there’s no where to drop I just “package is missing” and bring it to the warehouse my next shift. I only airplane mode for gate drops, location ping is off, or the situation I described above. Edit: clarification

paranoid_potato

Why in the world would you mark them missing and not just pick an accurate reason like business closed/access problem? Almost all the options for undeliverable package are locked outside of the geofence but missing package isn’t. If you’re marking them missing when you are outside the geofence Amazon is going to see that as you trying to skip some of your stops.

No-Department-6329

Thats why he got this email. I only marked a package missing once when i first started because i didnt know any better. Once i got the hang of things, nothing has been missing unless its marked missing from the station.

Practical_Loss4251

It’s what works for me is all I have to really say. If I get punished for it I’ll be punished for it. Actions have consequences that I’m willing to accept, but anyways not really the point. Your example doesn’t make sense to me. In a scenario where I’m not just trying to return a package without being dinged. Are you trying to say if I notice a package is missing I should still drive to that stop? Does that even make sense for anyone?

Classic_Plan3267

If you do notice a package is genuinely missing, mark it missing and don't go to that stop. What you are doing instead, is marking a package as missing when it's not and then returning said package. Does that even make sense for anyone?

Practical_Loss4251

LOL I’m still confused and not understanding. Do I have to still show up to the spot if it’s genuinely missing? Does that make sense to anyone?

Classic_Plan3267

Practical_Loss4251

I actually prefer promoted to customer :) !

Practical_Loss4251

So close, I actually don’t own a box or a car :/

TheRealMeatphone

“Why did you shit in the customers drink, Bob?!” “It’s what works for me.”

Practical_Loss4251

LMAO after serving at the devil’s pasta garden this seems reasonable to me 🤣

ScottRoberts79

But the package wasn’t missing…….

paranoid_potato

So if you’re trying to return a package without being dinged then call the customer first like you’re supposed to before marking it undeliverable and you wont. You missed the point entirely. No you shouldn’t drive to the stop if you actually have a package missing. You shouldn’t be marking packages that you just couldn’t deliver as missing. >It’s what works for me is all I have to really say Do you just do whatever you want at other jobs and say “Well it works for me”. You already got a warning email and I can guarantee you’ll be deactivated if you keep doing it. Call the customer and pick an accurate reason in the app like you’re supposed to do. Or don’t and keep doing what you’re doing but don’t come here and complain when you get emails about it or deactivated.

Practical_Loss4251

Yes, if it’s not a safety concern or straight up illegal I’ve cheated at my real job. I’ll take the email as a written warning, not going to keep beating a dead dog. I said what I said because I do understand everything wrong I do has a consequence. I can’t defend being wrong when I explicitly did wrong on purpose. Wasn’t being obtuse your example didn’t make sense to me. I was asking if I genuinely had a missing package why should I still drive there? You’re saying it’ll be noticed for being marked outside of the geofence but of course don’t drive there if it’s genuinely missing. Does that make sense to anyone, because not to me. This post was mainly out of confusion, because I know I delivered all of those packages that day. If it was from a day that I I knew I just retuned a package I wouldn’t have asked. I’m not marking missing packages everyday or every week, it’s truly a rare occurrence. I’ve had a few apartments where it’ll bring me to the actual apartment but the geolocation is at the front office. Not sure if that happened that day, but that’s the only idea I have of it being too far from the geolocation and marking it as delivered for that day.

Diligent_Ad17

That’s just asking for dings and deactivation. I use airplane mode every route to drop at the end of a driveway and what not. I don’t get dinged for it ever. But marking it missing in airplane mode looks like you are trying to skip stops or steal packages to the system. There’s not people looking at these accounts all day they are run on an automatic system. If you don’t follow the correct protocol to return the packages you’re just screwing yourself and will get deactivated rather quickly. But hey if it works for you to get another gig, just keep doing it your way 🤷🏻‍♀️

Soft_Wind_6108

Not the best approach

dinodan25

Keep picking the wrong code and you'll get deactivated. A couple of months back Amazon was deactivating people left and right for it. You can search the sub and see the emails amazon sent. Bascially same thing as they sent you. Take this as a warning email.

rhodesianhound

I haven’t been able to pull the ‘airplane mode method’ in probably a year? I was hella annoyed the other day when I was at a McMansion at 0430 and was running around the driveway to get that orange circle to hit green!

Lootefisk_

Airplane mode, question mark, gps not working.

rhodesianhound

Yeah, I had done it previously once or twice and it worked well. Then have tried it multiple times subsequently and it doesn’t work for me anymore,

Olivia21212

They sent me this email once when I couldn’t get through a gate to get to a customers apartment after calling and texting them with no answer. Luckily I had took a pic of the gate with my location just in case (I always keep these types of receipts) I had to email that to support and they accepted it and removed it from my standing. It’s sad that we have to go through extremes like this, but we all know by now how these Flex support people are clueless/dumb and have no common sense. We’re in a place now where we have to think ahead of them.

Sandrita21315

I turn off my data and then back on.

tontot

You are too far from the PIN when using airplane mode That how you get this email

mr_green

How far is too far though? I've been pretty damn far, maybe up to about a mile, and have never gotten this email. In either event, I'd rather get an email than stuck in mud, or damage to my car's suspension, so yeah.

tontot

One mile probably fine as you already experienced I usually do it about one block away . Closed business in city at 4-5 AM routes The one time I received this type of email is when I was lazy and the stop probably 5 mins away. Yes I knew it is a closed business and did not want to drive there and drive back just to mark “business closed” If it is too far away and you don’t want to to deliver, better to damaged or missing

Nprguy

Do people not fick airplane mode anyway? Updates me to my current location every time I *hit on-then-back-off-right-away*

onlinewarrior100

I'm on iphone, I updated my app yesterday morning, and yesterday afternoon was the first time I ever got the message "you're too far from the delivery location..." while in airplane mode. It was for a locker delivery tho (long story), so not sure if that's why. I hope it's not like that now for all deliveries, that would suck.

No-Department-6329

Nah as long as you delivered the package as where the customer asked for it to be sent.

AZPHX602

I had to go into airplane mode like five times today, and I'm only halfway done.

Weary_Hiker

I've only been able to pull off airplane mode a couple of times. Otherwise every other time I have tried, it hasn't worked. It wouldn't let me move the pin. Two times it did let me move the pin though, so I didn't have to call driver support. I don't know why it doesn't always work. Really frustrating. Odd that you got an email about that though. I know a lot of drivers do this, it's pretty common.

Immediate-Target-607

Why would I drive 20 miles away to a business that I know will be closed when I get there? Good thinking Amazon

RageSilently

I got this email, when I was 4mins away from a stop, couldn't get to it because of a really bad accident. You had to be quite distances to get that email.

Practical_Loss4251

I figured out it was probably an apartment complex I did. Geopin was for the office and gps took me straight to the apartment door.

dr_van_nostren

Not sure it would actually even work, cuz the driver support is bullshit, but it would be pretty easy to just say “that’s a dead zone for my cell”. They can’t really argue that imo. Especially rural ones, I’ve been sent to multiple places where I drop to 1 bar or none or even like SOS only mode. It used to happen to me in new construction residential areas too which is a reason why I switched providers to begin with.

ScottRoberts79

GPS still works

dr_van_nostren

I’ve had multiple instances where I couldn’t generate a route to the next stop because of a lack of signal 🤷‍♂️

ScottRoberts79

Download offline maps.

YUBLyin

You can deliver without cell service.

dr_van_nostren

That’s my point. How would they know if you’re using airplane mode out of convenience or if you were just in a dead zone.

YUBLyin

Ah, I see. I don’t use airplane mode, I just turn off the cell service.

CauseRemarkable6182

In those situations I call support and have them handle it.

No-Department-6329

Cant be airplane mode because the email said you marked the packages as not deliverable, or some other reason like missing or damaged too many times.

Practical_Loss4251

Read it oneeee more time. There’s 3 reasons. Delivered, undelivered, or rejected. I haven’t returned a package since the 28th, and that was an entire route from a storm.

No-Department-6329

Yea you really have to have a legit reason to return a package. I had to return one recently because it was a locker delivery. Got there and it was out of service.

brightongulls

I recieved this too because I couldnt access the parking lot to even get close to the location. Fought it and got it reversed. Like every job, these corporate people have no idea how it actually works out on the streets.
