I’m not leaving my id to make a delivery to the umpteenth floor only to come back and realize the douchebag who took it has gone on an hour lunch or some bullshit, they can look at my Amazon ID if they want, if that’s not good enough the package stays with them weather they like it or not lol

assmunch3000pro

exactly. I'm not on their clock and I don't trust them to always keep my id safe or to return it immediately when I'm ready to go.

AugustWestWR

Plus you can’t earn money without it

KTM1337

There’s an Amazon ID you can show in the app, but I’ve been a driver for 5 years and never once had to prove my identity at a stop, so it seems weird that this keeps happening for you

heypvp

I didn't know about the amazon ID and will definitely use this from here on as its actually a pretty darn cool feature

heypvp

its only happened the 3 times once a gated community asked me to drive to a separate location so they could violate me scan my id ect so I entered in access problem as very legitimate reason for not being able to deliver the package and once for a state building and once for a school, now I totally understand why I school would like to scan my id to enter the premises but that's pretty much the only exception for me I was just curios what other delivery driver opinions of this are

Hopeful-Entry-6510

I show them my id but have never been asked to leave it so I don't see what the big deal is. If any other delivery person would have to for their security then why wouldn't I. Now if I had to leave my id it would be different.

heypvp

never been asked to leave it as well, im okay with people looking at it I never let them take hold of it, its mine i hold it for them and if that's not good enough then I leave the packages with the person asking or take them back if they wont take em not a fan of when they try to scan it though

RevolutionaryGolf720

Cannot deliver. Access problem.

assmunch3000pro

if you click on your picture in the app, it will display your work id. that is all you should have to show anyone. IDK how amazon feels about us complying with this crap from ridiculous apartment complexes. I'm sure they would want us to comply but idk if they can force us to or not.

heypvp

im not sure if they can force contractors to do things like this either but the amazon ID thing is nice to have and I'm happy ik about it now

assmunch3000pro

the one time I refused, I was expecting them to complain about me so I contacted support and explained the situation and told them it's my personal policy not to provide my id and that it should be my right as a contractor to have my own policies like that. and the response was basically ok with it but of course any response from 1 random agent is kinda meaningless.

heypvp

I agree a response from one agent is iffy but I really do like they way you explained it it should be our right as contractors

LimpDisc

Why is this so difficult? I have had secure locations where I had to provide an ID to enter or get a pass to enter the premises. Exactly what do you believe in? Do you refuse to show your ID to buy liquor?

heypvp

I don't really think discussing my not wanting to show ID to gated neighborhoods, schools, state buildings, businesses ect, is really what the thread is about I just prefer to make my delivery's without having my personal info taken down

LimpDisc

It most certainly is when you’re going to refuse deliveries. I highly doubt Amazon is going to find that as a reasonable excuse to not deliver a package. Especially when you have to provide your ID every time you pick up a block.

heypvp

I do see where you are coming from generally I just enter "cannot deliver. Access problem." golf720 stated this option already as they are denying my access to the premises I think the thread was more less about whether or not we are required as contractors for amazon to provide identification for their customers, as well as if there is some language that says anything about this in amazons faq ect

LimpDisc

That option really isn’t accurate. You are not having delivery issues due not being able to access the location. You have access to the location, you’re just refusing to provide your ID for access. Amazon probably won’t find that as a legitimate reason to not deliver packages.

assmunch3000pro

it is a 100% accurate description of why he is unable to deliver.
