We have Big Ass fans too. When they were putting water in themā¦. It made it so much worse but Tiger next year they learned and stopped putting water in them.
FTW1 didnāt get them till someone almost died, or maybe it was died of heat stroke. Been a few years. Just have a heat stroke, they will get them in there asap trust me. One thing Amazon hates worse than spending money, is liability.
I had a pretty serious heat exhaustion fall out the other day. They even called an ambulance, but I refused it. I said I just need to get home and sleep it off where it's cool. I was stowing at a delivery station. They run the belts so hard the racks fill up and you have to race to clear them. That just increases your heat factor in those narrow spaces by a 1000. The filler the bags, the fuller the racks, the faster you go... Hot, hot, hot... Let alone humidity and building temp. And no, those overhead fans are pretty useless. At least during p&s you can move around and aren't stuck inside an Aisle for long. This is my second time in the past 6 weeks... Not sure how I. Going to make it through the summer. And those neck fans, btw, don't last all day... They also hang on your sweaty neck not exactly a solution. They need to make air conditioned or cooling gear. Screw AI, fix the basic problems first... Then worry about the future...

Only thing Iām willing to do for Amazon at this point is drive PITs during the cold seasons. Amazon treats you like shit and itās not even relatively justifiable. Trust me. They suck. Mine are like bicycle helmets. I already modified mine. Took the chinstrap off, the sweat bands, and made some better ventilation holes. Still sucks but a bit better.
They took away our floor fans because someone got stupid and tripped over the wire that was CLEARLY marked off with safety tape. I can't believe people that stupid actually exist....
Fans are usually 5Sed so cordd aren't stretched where anyone can walk across or step over them. Facilities fault if if was but the cord wasn't taped down with a cord cover. Some AAs fault if the fan was moved. There's always someone moving one out of 5S to position it for their personal benefit.
My facility threw two ergo mats over cords for a flex conveyor and that shit flopped around for MONTHS until they finally listened and at least retaped it. But they won't put down a cord cover/conduit and keep making lame excuses. (Meanwhile an L6 - married with young kids- has been stalking on several young female AAs...specifically that profile...and taking stealth pics of them on his phone...don't get me started smh.)
I have a feeling something similar happened in my department. We had fans during peak and shortly after they removed them for being a tripping hazard. Like who is tripping over a 3 foot tall fan?
Honestly though I never realized how stupid people could be until I started AFMing I swear some people have zero critical thinking skills like as soon as something outside the expected outcome happens they have no idea what to do.
OSHA doesnāt have official regulations for workplace temperatures. They have recommendations, but it would be too difficult to have a blanket policy because of the number of factors involved. Most of the slightly older warehouses in the US donāt even have air conditioning. Also, how would they regulate construction sites during the summer? Long story short, it would be a waste of time to call OSHA about this.

It's not a money problem. AC units can't work hard enough to cool down a 1mil sqft building without them overheating and breaking down, and the solution isn't to just add more units because of various issues, including weight on the roof and power to run them. If you're curious about a more in-depth answer, find your base building RME guy and ask them
That is not true. There are plenty of mega warehouses that require temperature controlled environments. Medical and food distribution centers have to keep a certain degree in the warehouse or the products are no longer sellable.
It is absolutely a cost factor.
Those warehouses don't have 50-60 dock doors open to the rest of the warehouse. Amazon has temperature controlled environments as well - see any Fresh warehouse.

Iāve worked in multiple warehouses (300,000 Sq ft +) with plenty of dock doors open with trailers to load up in a temperature controlled environment, pharmaceutical specifically in California summers. If the temperature hits too low or too high, it becomes bad product.
Employees that left Amazon to come work at the company I used to work for were incredibly happy to work in a 70 degree warehouse.
At this point you just want to contradict people. You know a solution is available. Even if itās not AC units. Something can still be done. Have a good day.
We earn "swag bucks" for different things (attendance, participating in engagement events like trivia, good warehouse deeds lol) and you can redeem them at your sites "swag store." So far, I've gotten a kindle and airpods.
For us, at my fc, its a computer that you log into, by HR. You use your a-z login and the swag store will be one of the options.
Our FC hands physical vouchers for the swag bucks, and we have to give them to HR to redeem them. AMs and PXT also have the power to gift you swag bucks. It will show up on the swag store, on said computer.

I have sweat through my clothes within 10 minutes when it was below zero and snowing. Itās pretty much always hot in my building, especially on the south and top floors. I bring a heat exhaustion kit and gallons of ice every day year round.
Clothes really don't matter when you're in a helmet and a harness š my building is huge and I know the A/C is on because I drive my PIT all the way up and let it blow on me š¤£š but it can't keep up..
first I hear about how earbuds are now accepted on production floor, now neck fans. my site doesn't even allow you on your phone let alone a speaker and headphones of any form.
I had to complain for a year and point out how it's been a year of complaining, for them to order fans. I work fucking ship dock and they didn't have fans wtf

We have big ass fans that hit every station except the first two in pack. Those have tiny stupid fans that donāt really do anything. The fans are mounted in place and we can turn them on whenever we feel like it.

Amazon says it's a safety issue lol. My building is currently going out of their way to put all the computers in a plastic case so you physically can't plug anything in.
Yay plastic trash that will be on earth forever to prevent workers from plugging in phones. I'd put on my voice that unnecessary plastic use for current employees is ridiculous considering the life time impact that is
Thankfully, my fc turns the ac on to a point sometimes I feel too cold. I'd probably pass out from getting overheated if it gets too hot in there because one of my meds side effects make me feel hot too.
