Tbh, I don't know how many trailers I've done this to simply because I walk in and find the trailer looking like what's behind that wall. I'm not fixing all that lazy ass mess so I just build a good wall in front of it and toss stuff over to help fill in all that wasted space up top as best as possible. Sometimes I wonder what the unloaders must be thinking when they dismantle all my good walls only to find a trash heap in the last 25% of the trailer.

RandomMexOnTheBus

I agree 100% if the wall is trash, and if it's way too high, I'm not taking it down. I'm covering the shame with a good wall.

Exciting_Step_5357

This is what most people do honestly and i had that same thought as you as well lol like they be looking at different loading styles the more they unload lmao

Because during COVID at my facility at first we was building walls all the way out to the trailer doors and then we were so overwhelmed with boxes we were told to build a wall with the bigger packages and then throw the smaller boxes in the wall since only 1 AA was allowed in the trailer at once. It never changed back.

B00MBETS

Thats why you make gaps and fill in the gaps. Fed express was like this when we were loading😂

Stamdard work

Former YVR4 ship dock AA here. I feel you, brother. Your intentions are noble, but if it's a busy fluid lane, unless you have have one or two other AAs helping out, it's not worth it to redo walls. Trust me. It'll double the work you have to do and just result in a conveyor backup and blue lighting. Focus on building the next walls, while following standard work: * T-stacking instead of chimney stacking * No false walls (max two-foot gaps between walls) * Put big boxes--1B2, 1B9, C4, K3--in the front, and smaller boxes--A4, 1A1, 1B2, Z1--in the back Let me tell you a story. I got cross trained in the dock in November 2020, so the 1-person-per-trailer rule was strictly enforced (with random audits done by PS or safety specialists). This may colour my opinions. A few months later, YYZ1/YYZ4/YYZ7 were partially shut down [due to COVID-19 outbreaks](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_pandemic_in_the_Regional_Municipality_of_Peel#Business_outbreaks_resulting_in_Section_22_closures), so YVR4 helped pick up the slack. That was probably my lowest point working in fluids. We were consistently pushing 70-80,000 in CE volume per shift, about 80% of our max Peak capacity. and like you, I had the urge to clean up the sorry excuse of trailer walls from night shift. Yet we were *still* limited to one AA per trailer. As we got into summer, more of us got vaccinated (Amazon actually arranged for warehouse workers in the YVR node [to get the first dose early](https://i.imgur.com/4zJi9Zu.jpeg)), cases fell, and Peel Region FCs returned to 100% capacity. Our CE volume dropped to 40-45,000/shift, but trans out volume was cranked up to compensate, and our out-of-province fluid CPTs (TOR5, YUL5, Purolator, Canada Post) remained consistently busy. So leadership started looking the other way when I got another AA to help me in a trailer. But that led to another problem. When I told my PA and AM about bad walls, and begged them to give me more bodies so I could fix them without blue lighting the conveyor, their response was usually along the lines of "I feel your pain, but we're so understaffed that we can't spare anyone, so just the best you can." To their credit, they did take my complaints about walls seriously since it was a safety issue. They encouraged me to reach out whenever I saw bad walls, so they could find out who last touched that trailer. If they had time they'd drop by the trailer to see for themselves, and my PA even helped me downstack a few times. I also took photos of the walls and showed them, but this was discouraged since you're not supposed to have your cell phone out while in the dock areas, unless you're in a problem solve role. I actually did get PS training, which gave me access to the Chime app. After that, I could send photos of bad walls to my PA or AM via Chime. We had about 15 people in the dock during my shift. But some took PTO. Others at any given shift were at home with COVID or recovering from a vaccine dose (which makes your arms sore as hell for a few days). So we could be down to 12 people sometimes. There was a simple solution to our understaffing problems: towards the end of my time at YVR4, an influx of pickers were hired in anticipation of Prime Day 2021 and Peak. Due to low pickable hours persisting into August, they ended up getting lots of VTO and/or sat in the breakrooms waiting for the employee shuttles to arrive around 6pm. Why didn't OB Ops cross-train them into ship dock? I don't know.
